Amobi Okoye interview tomorrow...

what position do you see yourself playing in Wade Phillips 3-4?

GREAT question. Along those same lines, I'd like to know about the times the Texans have used a 3-4 defense while he's been on the team. Was he on the field and at what position?? And what does he know about Wade's scheme: how does his strengths play into this?

Given the Texans problems on defense last year, does he feel it was more of an issue with the schemes/playcalling or an issue with personnel?

Has Amobi begun studying Wade Phillip's 3-4 defensive schemes? Does he have a new playbook or any material to study yet?

Does in the 3-4, does Amobi see himself as more of a pass rusher or a run stopper? Which does he prefer?

Thought of another:

Has Amobi considered retirement if the 2011 season doesn't happen and the parties cannot agree to a deal? Has it even crossed his mind, or is he dead set on playing in the NFL? (just trying to get an idea of his love of the game)

What do you attribute your overall lack of perfomance too?

Are you ready to take a HUGE cut in pay once this contract is up?

Given your contract, do you expect to be cut in training camp if you don't pickup your game?

Don't softball this punk. Everybody here in Houston softballs this guy because he was so young when he came into the league. Hit him with questions that are so hard he cries like a little girl. :crying:

Can he pay off the remainder of my student loans for me?

I would like to add my name to the list as well.

On a serious note, Amobi: If needed, are you willing to play the nose tackle position knowing that a 3-4 defense thrives or fails based on the performance of a nose tackle?

What have you (and other Texan players) been doing since the NFL season is in limbo?

this is awesome gang! Keep them coming! I'll be sure to ask as many as I can

Can you ask him about his performance in years past and whether or not he thinks he will improve in Wade's defense? Basically, what role will he be playing and does he think he skill set matches that role...

Are you the biggest draft bust since David Carr, or is it one of your teammates? Who?

How much better would we be with Revis or Willis?

Hey gang, I'm interviewing Amobi Okoye tomorrow on the Football Gameplan Radio show .
What are some questions that you would like me to ask him?

The show airs 11am - 1pm est.
Call-in number is (323)657-1489

Why do you consistently keep getting your butt kicked at the LOS?

Are you a Nigerian 23?

Is saving Nigeria more important to you than mastering your craft as an NFL player?

There are other ? I would like to ask him

What is the most important thing you have learned as a player and as a person since being drafted? Is the NFL different than what you thought it would be and how so?

Very good questions Gary!

What do you mainly work on during the offseason to improve your game? Do you see yourself being a good player in the 3-4 defense and why? If coach Phillips tells you have to work a little harder in order to do well are 100 percent commited to doing what you have to do and go that extra mile and how would you?

We all know that Amobi has other interests. IIRC, he plans to go to medical school and he's also involved in humanitarian efforts in Nigeria.

I'd like to hear more about what he's involved in outside of his NFL career. I'd also like to know how much time he balances his NFL career with all these other interests.

:tiphat:

Yep

Ask him what questions the Texans asked him when we interviewed him before the draft. Did he make it really obvious that he wasn't really all that concerned with playing football?

sounds like he is reading a prepared statement, never the less very interesting concepts, making football an Olympic sport. pretty cool

So, Amobi thinks he is better suited for DE instead of NT in 3-4. Hope, works out for him but I think he is better suited for 4-3 DT.

Go Texans!!!

Wasn't that Okam?

Why do you get paid millions of $$$$ to play a physical game like football when it's obvious you have a low pain tolerance?

Do you think you would be better suited for the bench in Cleveland?

After Amobi got drafted, all the talk around town was about how smart this kid is. I seem to remember McClain mentioning that he was going to be a doctor after his NFL career.

I also thought I remembered seeing footage of him volunteering at Memorial-Hermann.

Samkon Gado?

If I'm wrong here, then Gado's probably the guy I've got him mixed up with. And I am probably wrong.

When Gado came here, he had come out of college with a 3.66 GPA and having taken some MCAT (med preadmission test) prep courses. It has to date never gone any further.

Listened to the Okoye interview on the Football Gameplan Radio Show and here are some of Okoye's responses:

Sees himself as a DE in the 3-4 due to body size, but doesn't rule out NT. Whatever is the best fit.

The problems on defense in '10 stemmed from not having everyone on the same page (part coaches & part players) on a play-by-play basis.

What he's learned after 4 seasons in the league is that you must work harder every year and never relax. That's what carried him along and made him as good as he is today. :smiliepalm:

Thanks for the interview, Emory. Keep up the good work!

If I'm not mistaken, Okoye is a psychology guy...

The Browns are switching to a 4-3 this year, so that might be a possibility. They don't have a 7th, but they have two early 6ths, so it would have to be one of those in exchange for Okoye. I don't think the Browns have any players the Texans would want in exchange for Amobi. They are shallow at just about every position.
