Loved it, lets hope Bob reads your blog. If not someone need to find his email, hah. I do wonder if seeing Cowher's name floated around in the media (local and national) has any impact on what Mr. McNair will do at the end of the season.

(in the link) Think about it this way: imagine what the 2010 Texans team would look like with the offense as it's currently constituted and a Cowher-led defense that was no worse than middle of the road. They'd be leading the AFC South..

Can someone explain to me, in all seriousness, why paying multiple coaches and dealing with a lockout isn't a problem for Dallas, Denver and Minneapolis, but when it comes to Houston, we get scared and worry endlessly about paying too many people and not being able to find anyone better?


And, a lot of people were saying we should back a bank vault up to Aaron Shoebel's driveway. I was hesitant, because I didn't think he was worth it. A lot of people responded: "So? it's not our money. It's McNairs."

Ok, so, if it's not our money, why not break the bank to clean house and bring in another staff? I'd rather we did that than bring in some aging, out-of-shape player who has no desire to play anymore.

First of all, this is all guess work on our part as to what McNair may, or may not do. Until he actually does something it's all speculation on our part. Which, frankly, is all we got to do now since the season is over with.

correct me if im wrong but werent Richard Smith and Frank Bush linebacker coaches also before becoming our d coordinator? We should probably get a proven d coordinator or head coach that has been fired because our luck of linebacker coaches becoming d coordinators hasnt been to good.

Let's take an opposing look at this rant, piece by piece. Say McNair wants to keep Kubiak, but hire a new GM and a new DC. The new GM will want total control. He'll have to fire Rick Smith's scouts and personnel people and pay them for two years. The new DC will want his own position coaches, but few are available. The new GM can't sign players for the new DC's system, and can't communicate with the players he's inherited until the lockout's over. In early September, the players miss a couple of game checks and cave in and sign a new CBA. The league says you have two weeks to get ready. Here come the Texans back to work. The new DC will have most of the same players, few coaches and no time to teach his scheme.

If the problem with this team is the defense only (which is bunk), how are the Texan any less screwed in 2011 by hiring a new DC rather than a new head coach? Sounds to me that 2011 is a lost year (in The World According to McClain) no matter which way McNair goes. So, why not do what's best for the team in 2012? That would be hiring Bill Cowher.

Damn good post Lucky. I'm getting really tired of the argument that a possible lockout should keep us from making changes that would most likely be made if there was no lockout on the horizon. Do what is best for the franchise regardless. If McNair truly wants a winner then he has to get rid of the mediocrity that permeates this current coaching staff. That starts with firing Kubiak and Bush and possibly Rick Smith. You hire the great coaches when they are available. You snooze you lose.

It looks like old Bob will keep Kubiak again. The guy is just patient to a friggin fault. He just doesn't understand football. Its seems like it is strictly a business to him. Winning and the fans are secondary. There is a reason the Steelers and Patriots are winners. They want to win from the top on down and do what it takes to do so. Bob is just so happy to hear from other owners that the Texans are on the right track. What a load of crap. This owner aggrivates the friggin crap out of me. Read this article from the comical.

Here is an excerpt from it. It is a quote from McNair.

“It’s sort of an affirmation that we’re on the right track. Clearly, we have to do better, because what we’ve done wasn’t good enough. But we’re on the right track, and I’ve felt that way all along.”

Damn good post Lucky. I'm getting really tired of the argument that a possible lockout should keep us from making changes that would most likely be made if there was no lockout on the horizon.....

I would be ok with throwing away 2011 just to land Cowher. Let him do what he can with what he has that year and then start putting his pieces in place the next year. Sometimes you have to step back to move forward.
