What happened at Reliant?!

I have Redzone on Fort Knox, Kentucky which rarely shows Texans games as it is, but when it did flash on there all I heard was booo from the TV. That doesn't top it off 3rd quarter I seen so many empty seats it was sickening, if you do not wanna watch our team win or lose let me know, I will fly down there and watch for the empty seat I seen on the low 50 yard line! We need to improve of course but we have a bye week then its against the Colts, which should be a win anyways but we'll see which Texan team shows up. I apologize for the rest of our team Cush, welcome back....:rake:
 
Free time is important to many of us. I turned off the game in the 3rd. A bad team that tries hard deserves our support. The effort we saw this afternoon deserved the stadium they played for.
 
watching from the tv, the crowd was loud for most of the game until I freaking fell asleep midway in the 4th

even the announcers showed the Texans sideline with about 9 minutes left in the 4th . no emotion, no one trying to fire their team even early in the 2nd when the giantst got to 21-0

Texans got dominated again at home (in a nutshell)

The crowd was there from I can tell and they were loud but the team just didn't have "it"
 
Yes, it was the first time i've ever left a game at halftime, it was an incredibly sickening display of football and i don't feel bad at all for leaving. If they really wanted me to stay in my seats they wouldn't have played so badly.

Our defense came out swinging early then our horrid offense sucked the life right out of them.
 
TBH, this was the first game I've ever attended and I left soon after the 3rd quarter started because we just completely sucked and I didn't like watching my team get murdered on all facets of the game.
 
It does not make sense to me to leave at a half of any game.

Only half the game has been played, you have no idea what is going to happen the next half.
For all we know as fans, the Texans could have woke up and came back to win this game.
Obviously that did not happen but what if that Washington game was at home and you left?
I would not want to miss that comeback, it just confirms the bandwagon nature of Houston fans.

I know "It's my money and I do what I want blah blah blah!", well thats fine but if I have a chance to watch my Houston Texans live I am going to take that opportunity.
Especially since I am already at the stadium and payed for 4 quarters of football.
 
If i lived in Houston it might be a different story, but i live in Beaumont an hour and a half away, and the last thing i want to deal with after a brutal loss is bad traffic.


I've missed a few great endings before and close comebacks, but i still have no regrets in it. If the Texans win, whether i'm there or not, i'm still ecstatic. Say what you want when you don't go to alot of games, but i'm sure if you did, you'd eventualyl grow tired and do the same thing.

Where did you get this false information that I do not go to many games?

Before this year I have been to every single Texans home game since 02 except for 6, including every game in 05.

Now that I live in LA I am not able to go to as many games but I have already made the Dallas game and will make it to as least 2 more games this year.

You bought the tickets so obviously you are going to keep doing what you want and if you are fine with missing the great comebacks and such then so be it, I will just never understand.
 
I despise the fair-weather attitude of the seemingly majority of the fans we have at Reliant. Why are you leaving? To beat the traffic that doesn't really exist out of Reliant? After the comeback against Washington - ON THE ROAD - you LITERALLY turn your back on a team that in the 3rd quarter was down by only 2 scores? No wonder the team had no fire. It was like playing at Oakland last week - to a mostly empty stadium by the 3rd whose only cheers came from the opposing team fans that managed to infiltrate us. You people need to learn to stick around until the last seconds, even if it's to boo.
 
In my opinion, when a team plays as horribly as they did today, walking out is a valid statement on the part of the fans.

From what i originally gathered in the OP, not knowing anything, i assumed that since you lived out of state you didn't go to many.


But anyways, i cheer my ass off for this team week in and week out for 8 years, and was yelling my ass off again today. But today this team was completely unresponsive to anything outside of that first defensive drive until the offense sucked the life out of our defense. I'll be a Texans till the day i die, but when this team decides to play like this i'll decide to leave early and show my frustration for their piss poor play. If you think that's a fair-weather fan or whatever then you go ahead and think that, but i consider it more like a fan who's completely tired of BS football.
 
What happened at Reliant you ask? Well, after watching this team and damn near losing my voice after watching a game of theirs on Sunday since 2002 I can tell you I saw this a mile away. Really hoped it wouldn't happen, but I know this teams pattern to well.

Bounce back win in Oakland last week after a horrible loss the week before. This means they were due to come home and blow mule **** thinking they were all that and a bag of chips.

Effing small pee-pee football is what we saw on the field because theirs shrank on the field today. So pissed off probably not even making sense right now.

But my main point is after any kind of a "big win" you can STILL effing count on them to turn into female anatomy the next game. I still say playoffs this year but g-damn are they making me start to rethink that a little. Schedule only gets worse!

HOW EFFING BAD ARE WE AT DB DEPTH THAT K-BURNT JUST STAYS ON THE FIELD?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!! :gun:
 
What happened at Reliant is what usually happens at Reliant. The fans over pay for their tickets, over pay for their parking, over pay for the soda and beer, and are rewarded with a half ass effort by a bunch of millionaires who don't care that one game just cost you one months salary.

The LOSS is not the fans' fault, but the atmosphere and culture created in that stadium is. Not to mention the humility I have to face with my friends that live outside of Houston that laugh at me every time they see the empty stadium and say "nice hardcore fans you have there".

There were still plenty of Texans fans at the game through the 4th Qtr. We were down by 17 with 8 minutes to go & we tried to run the ball damn near three times in a row... then we punted, & put that sieve we call a defense back out on the field. That's when the biggest group of fans left.

I stayed in my seat until the final whistle, but I don't blame the guys who left early. The only reason I stayed, was because I was thinking the real traffic problems were going to be gone by the time I got to my car, with all the other people leaving early.

I also don't believe there was anything fair weather about guys leaving early today. That was the most pathetic showing of football I've ever seen @ Reliant.

Well, then your friends are either stupid or blind, as other than the rare occasion like today, when the team didn't deserve the fans sticking around, the stadium is full.

I was at the house.

It was so bad that I started drinking midway through the 1st period, I had two beers and, while watching the game, I thought. "It isn't worth being hungover tomorrow" and left the rest of the 12 pack in the fridge, so I ended up laying on the couch and then midway through the 4th, I got a power nap in.

It wasn't my intention to go to sleep but the Texans' performance was tylenol PM ish
 
How am I going to feel if I leave early and the Texans make a miracle comeback and I missed it? SHOUTING WITH JOY HAPPY THAT THE TEXANS WON. Even without me in my seats.

Now HOW MANY times has that even been a possibility?? Only game I think of was TN a couple of yrs ago when they set the NFL record for FG's in a game. And oh yeah, it was close but we still lost that one. Other than that, I don't remember that actually happening. NEVER, EVER, EVER

So for all those faithfull followers of the slight perhaps maybe, its still possible, but highly doubtfull crowd that stayed till the end, I salute you.

Me, this is the second time I left at halftime and my feelings are this. If the Texans aren't going to show up to play, I don't have to show up and stay.

I have better things to do with my time than watch a team that couldn't compete at a Texas high school football level of playing today.

EVERY big American city could be called a "transit" city.

You don't think that NY,LA,Philly,Chicago,etc have people constantly moving to and from?

In fact a recent survey found that Texans stayed put more than anyone else in the country.

No where near as much as Houston. Go look at population growth (domestically especially) and you'll see. In fact, places like Chicago and NYC are losing people domestically to places like Houston. And LA is actually a great example of a transient city. That's a big fair weather town.

The only way to show McNair that the fans are sick of this crap is to head for the exits or not show up. How many times have we heard, "Be in your seat at kickoff if you are a true fan." Well guess what? At all three home games this year, the fans have been in their seats and rocking the house. What have they gotten in return?

One home game when the team showed up and played till the final whistle.
Two home games, where they haven't shown up at all.

....gotta love the "milquetoast."

The great fans of the HOUSTON TEXANS deserve a hell of alot more than what the players put out on the field today.

We were pretty loud on defense for most of the game..... & a little loud (IMHO) on offense while they were in the huddle, but quite as a mouse when they lined up.

McNair isn't a stupid man, I bet he's still crawlin through the dark caverns of Kubiak's ass.
 
One more thing about the crowd, & Houston.

I owe an apology to all the Houston football fans. I kinda got mad when I saw all the cowboy fans at the game a couple of weeks ago.

But I was listening to 610 on the way to the game & Bum Phillips got on talking about the great fans of Houston who greated the Oilers home after returning from bad post season loses. According to Bum, this happened twice. 50,000 fans at the Dome to welcome their football team back home.

He said he couldn't imagine how many people would have been there, or what the atmosphere would have been like had they won.
 
What happened? Well..... you would just have to be there - highlights do not do justice to the suckage we witnessed.

I only get to go once a year and I can sure pick 'em huh? :facepalm:

We were debating on leaving in the 4th after Schaub threw 3 straight imcompletions into the dirt and I suggested watching one more series by the Giants when Eli hit S. Smith for 45 yards....... Made the decision easy - we had endured enough punishment for one afternoon.
 
What happened at Reliant and with the fans? I couldn't care less about the fans. I don't pay to see what the fans do. I do NOT care if they pay a boat load of money and leave at halftime or stay for the whole game. I do NOT care if they get in their seats before kickoff or straggle in midway through the 2nd quarter. I do NOT care what color shirt they're wearing or if it's even sports related or not. I do NOT care if they stand and cheer or quietly sip their martinis in the bars. I am NOT there to see fans.

If you are a fan, do whatever the hell it is you do and let other fans be the fans they want to be, not how YOU want them to be.

As for the football team, they sucked ass. They don't deserve anybody in the &#$@ing stadium.
 
The Giants showed up to play because IMO they had to. Last week you got the feeling that they might turn their season around however to turn around this week and lose would have derailed that.

They still have the majority of their coaching staff and a lot of players from the 2007 Super Bowl Champion team. So give credit to where credit is due. When the Giants play up to their potential and play Giants football the Texans are not quite on their level yet.

As far as fans in Houston being fickle. It's not just Houston, it's the entire state of Texas. Cowboys fans despite having been treated to several winning seasons and Super Bowls are no different. They don't stick around or even show up when their team is bad.

This is true, however NY and Chicago are old cities that have always been large with multi generational families that have been taught since birth to root for their team. Trust me on that, I married a woman from Chicago and not only does she root for the Bears but her family is always sending my child some sort of Bear, Cub, clothing that I am constantly hiding or throwing away.

Also notice your more rabid fans come from your industrialized factory towns. Greenbay, Chicago, NY, Pittsburgh, Philly.

LA doesnt have a team.

Also those cities mentioned you don't go to their stadiums and wear your team colors without getting your behind wooped. Here, in Houston? You get some nancy boy texting the man to have your ass removed at the first sign of getting rowdy b/c we have "Class".

There is also a difference between teams that have been around since the 1950's and a team that has been around since 2002.

Just my opinion though.

Really what we need to do as a fan base is stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and worry about yourself and make sure you are in your seat on time and make sure you are being loud. If you are doing that you wouldn't notice what other people are doing.

Again, just my opinion.
