Anyone hear anything at all on Johnson and Jones. I searched a little but can't find anything.

Jones status was suppossed to be updated today, but I haven't seen anything.

I live in Vegas so I don't get to local sports coverage.

Also if both can't go what should the game plan be Offensively???? It's easy to say pound the rock, but don't you think the Giants will be looking for that?

Jacoby had a 'strained calf muscle' during the Raiders game. I doubt it will keep him out this week against the Giants. AJ will probably be back as it seems they only rested him because they were playing the Raiders.

From Nick Scurfields Texans Chat.

Question: so will andre jhonson be back this week?

Nick Scurfield: No word yet. He's day-to-day. Kubiak said that he is feeling a little better this week, though.

Jacoby Jones has a strained calf muscle. Should be back soon I would think.

Calf strains can actually be pretty severe. I think Andre Johnson had one in his second or third season that forced him to miss 3-4 games?

Kubiak said today after practice that Andre didn't practice with the team today but did run and Kubes said that he looked good running.

I forgot they disclosed the Calf Strain for Jacoby, but I hadn't heard anything as far has who might or might not play.

I've said in a lot of threads I hope they don't rush AJ back, but we need more than 2-3 WR's available against the Giants.

This is pure speculation, but I predicted to a buddy of mine that if AJ was out against Oakland, I'll bet he shuts it down through the open week. I don't think we'll see him until Indy.

I only think this because of his injury a couple years ago. I know it was different (MCL I think) but it was the same approach -- "day to day" status for like 3-4 weeks lol (if i remember correctly)...

Yeah, I remember that. It was always day to day, and every week we were hoping to see him on Sunday only to find him inactive at the last minute.

80 and 12 did not practice today.

So are we going to see Mr. Dickerson out there? Who will be starting? Kevin Walter (SOOOO glad we resigned this dude) and Dickerson? With Anderson in the slot?

I really, really don't want to rush him back to duty. I'd prefer that AJ sit for the next three weeks rather than risk a setback so that he's not ready for the Indy game.

Yeah, I would not be terribly upset if he sat out thru the bye....

Personally I want to win all the games. Sitting AJ doesnt guarantee me anything when we play the colts. If AJ can go, then I say put him out there.

Niether do I, but our WR corps in the 2nd half of the Raiders game scared me even more. IMO, we were lucky the running game was so successful because there's no way we were going to rely on the passing game. Will our running game be as successful against the Giants? I doubt it.

We need AJ out there. He IS our passing game. When he's doubled, KW, OD or DA will be mismatched. When he's played man up, we rip them a new one. Either way, we win in the passing game. AJ's not out there.....who the hell would be scared of our group then? No one

I'll be surprised if AJ plays. I am concerned that JJ may be more serious than thought. He could play but not be effective. I expect Walter and Dreesen to get a lot of catches and look for even more receptions by our running backs. I had this predicted as a loss but looks different now. Vegas had it Texans by 2 1/2 early this morning..

I am pretty sure JJ will be out. He did not practice at all today.

I expect both of them to be in uniform and torching gnats on Sunday

AJ was held out because he needed the rest to get that ankle healed up some and to keep him from making it worse on that garbage field that Oakland throws out three days before the game. JJ had a strained calf muscle. They'll both be back by Sunday (I hope).

It's the regular season and nobody is going to be starting a bunch of guys who are in immaculate condition. There are a lot of ankle sprains hitting the field around the league by week 5. You guys talking about sitting AJ through the bye week are talking about something we all wish could happen but if we get to the bye and are sitting at 3-3 then I imagine most everyone will be pretty pissed off.

If AJ can go he needs to go and I expect he wants to go. 5-1 ain't gonna make itself happen.

I want to see AJ and JJ on the field this Sunday as much as anyone.

AJ has been running. With a HIGH ankle sprain, this means very little. Straight course in practice means very little. A player should be able to consistently CUT comfortably during full speed and under resistance, but most importantly be able to sustain the trauma of coming down from a high jump ball. If not, he is extremely likely to go back to square one or worse. AJ was wearing an ankle brace during his limited "practice" today. Studies on braces in such cases have shown very mixed reviews. Virtually all "positive" studies have shown only a small decreased incidence in reinjury, mostly due to inhibition of inversion forces placed on the ankle. I mentioned long time ago that he should rest through the bye. He might just happen to luck out if he's thrown out there this Sunday, in which case someone may consider themselves clever. But that would not be the wise choice.

If JJ is not even running now, let alone practicing, he's likely to enjoy assistance off the field the first time he accelerates or changes speed or direction.

I think we will see AJ some this weekend. JJ will not play, imo. My concern with AJ playing is like you said. He could be ok, but then again, he stands a much greater risk of injury than he would normally. I am concerned that we may lose him for a much longer period if he is not given enough time to fully heal. High ankle sprains are scary injuries.

Boo to common sense! They need to nut up and play every Sunday.

Good news maybe!!!!

"Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports Houston Texans Pro Bowl wide receiver Andre Johnson has made progress in his recovery from a lingering right ankle injury, and should play this Sunday against the New York Giants, according to a source.

Johnson injured his ankle Sept. 19 during a 30-27 road victory over the Washington Redskins and aggravated it in the Texans' 27-13 Week 3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys."
