The first half wasn't bad, our offense appeared a little out of sync, scoring only 3 points. On a last minute filed goal, the Cowboys went ahead by 7. Being down by 7 didn't sound like a bad thing. Being down by 7 to a team that couldn't get it together in weeks 1 & 2 did concern me.

So we come out to start the third Qtr, 3 straight runs by Arian Foster for 11 yards and a first down. We go to the air, Keith Brooking clotheslines Andre get's called for a PI. 6 plays later, we're at the Dallas 39. From the last 1st down, it's an incomplete passes & a Arian Foster loss of 2 yards, and a sack. We punt.

The Defense responds with a stellar 3 & out. a 4 yard run by Barber, a 3 yard pass to Witten (Demeco is there for the tackle as soon as the ball is caught) & a hurried pass (Romo draped in Mario), then they have to punt.

We get the ball again, Foster for 2 yards, Pass to Foster for 14 yards (1st down), Foster: loss of 2 (Winston: Holding -10) Pass to Slaton (3 yards), incomplete to Jacoby (penalty Jenkins, 1st down), Deep pass, intercepted. Dallas ball.

From their 10. Now I think the defense had been doing a good job up to this point. After the offense stalled on their first possesion in the 3rd, the defense gives us a 3 & out, puts the ball back in our offenses hands, only to have them turn it over.

But to allow the Cowboys to go the length of the field & score a TD, unacceptable.

So we get the ball back. We march from our 24 all the way down to the Goal line. Even get had one referee prematurely give us a touchdown. Even had a PI in the endzone. But we settle for a field goal (17-6 Cowboys).

The deficiencies on defense have been well analysed, I think. I don't understand why no one is talking about our offense. The first three possesions of the 2nd half resulted in 2 turnovers and a field goal.

Surely that has got to be an issue.

turnovers was 3-0 cowboys right? yup dallas converted all three turnovers to points. dont win many games like that. the dreaded 3-4 defense stalled out the O. i know the cheifs run a 3-4 but how bout oakland?

I think the Texans did what they wanted to do offensively for the most part.

Besides the penalties and turnovers , they just couldnt "Make a damn play" when it counted.

Foster averaged over 6 yards a carry and went over 100 yards - first time the Cowpies had allowed a 100 yard rusher in quite a while , I forget how many games but it was an impressive number.

I didnt think the defense played all that bad - after the first series , when they gave up yards in chunks due to the same old mess , misdirection - until Dallas put together that long drive.

Im not sure how much the loss of Brown had on pass protection and particularly how much help was afforded Winston - He had a horrible game.
I'll have to go back and rewatch the game to take a closer look at the OL and the changes they made to compensate for Butler being in place of Brown.

It may be a while before I watch it tho .... Watching that again might put me in a sour mood.

As for the defense , I thought they played reasonably well for the first three quarters - if you overlook the Cowpies initial possession. After that $&!* went downhill ...

I actually enjoyed watching it again. The first three Qtrs weren't bad at all. Good football. I thought the Defense did a very good job, even after the first RW TD.

We made a mistake, it bit us in the ass... now the offense needs to get it going.

That's when the game started to sour.

I think that is because you kind of expect some units to have a bad game. They aren't going to be great every week.

As it stands now, the offense has had two pretty good weeks. The defense has had three terrible weeks overall...More specifically the secondary...

I think most people expect the offense to get better whereas we are searching for answers on defense.

I can kinda agree... But there has a been a Schaub started slow... thread three weeks in a row.

I agree. And Foster was the first 100 yard rusher against the Cowboys D since early December 2008.

Joe Buck said 20 games. That's pretty amazing for a team that sucks.

That says a whole lot about the Texans ability to run the ball - to average better than 6 ypc against that defense.

Kubiak said all offseason that it was a big priority and so far he has delivered.

At the Cowboys' board, a lot of people were calling Foster a fluke before the game. After, they were giving him his props. Arian Foster is going to really surprise a lot of people this year.

I think he's done that already. The end of last season and what he's done till now is/was not fluke! There's a bright spot on this team and it's #23! With a little help from a few others we can ride him and #80 to the playoffs!

Oh you mean the field goal that was kicked after the play clock had been at 0 for like 2 seconds........

I wasn't sold on last year & the preseason. But when the Cowboys dominating the way they did, and AF was able to do what he did, I'm sold on him & they OL.

That pick-up on 3rd & 19... that one sold me on Foster.

That's the one. If we lost by three, that would be the focus of my gripe.

But we lost by 21 (I'm not counting KDub TD).

The Cowboys played well.
Overall, they executed better than us on both sides of the ball.
Some of our play-calls are questionable.
Schaub didn't play as well he could and should.
There are plenty of blames to go around, but Schaub is the leader.
We need him to stay consistent and to play at the high level of a top 5, top 10 QB.

Bottom line....Dallas controlled the line of scrimmage.

I dont believe that is true.

The Texans D-line controlled the Dallas running game for the most part. Dallas averaged 3.74 yards per carry. 101 yards on 27 carries.

The Texan O-Line was pretty darn good in the running game. The Texans averaged 5.64 yards per carry. Foster had 17 carries for 106 yards an average of 6.24 per.

Thats far from Dallas controlling the LOS on either side of the ball.

The story of this game boils down to the Texans inability to extend drives , turnovers , penalties and sacks at inopportune times - Mistakes cost them.

False Start penalty on 2nd & 5 from the Dallas 5 - Result Houston FG.

Sack - 3rd & 3 from the Dallas 32 - Result Punt. (coverage sack - Schaub had plenty of time)

Sack - 3rd & 7 from the Houston 37 - Result Punt. (Ware beat Butler)

Sack - 3rd & 12 from the Dallas 39 - Result Punt (coverage sack - Schaub had lots of time)

INT - Dallas takes over on their 10 - Result Dallas TD.

Sack - 3rd & 3 at the Dallas 3 - Result Houston FG. (Dallas Blitz - Missed assignment - Brooking has a clear path to Schaub)

Fumble - 1st & 10 at the Houston 47 - Result Dallas FG

Here's a link where you can read the play by play as well as watch a replay of each of the sacks.

My thoughts , The Texans did what they wanted offensively but just couldnt make a play to extend drives or cash in.
On two of the sacks , Schaub had plenty of time to either find a reciever or get rid of the ball ... on a 3rd a blitz leads to a blown assignment.
On only one sack did a lineman clearly get beat.

I agree, it was a non-factor at the end, but momentum is a big thing. I'm certainly not implying that this would swung the game in the Texans favor, they were flat!!!!

It's just amazing a proffesional officiating staff can blow that call. And where the F was the booth under 2 minutes!!!!
