I agree with you but you know what, we called the season ticket line to complain about this years gift and the lady told my wife that the year we got the flag they got so many complaints that people HATED the flags!! I love my flag!!

I have been a season ticket holder since the beginning, and since signing up on the Texans message boards there have been complaints about the "gifts" that were included with the tickets.

I doubt if anyone can deny that some of them have been more useful to some than others in any given year. However, I think the big picture is that the Texans have chosen to show their appreciation to their season ticket holders by including a token of that appreciation with a keepsake. I can imagine it to be quite disappointing when they receive calls from fans to express their displeasure with their choice of "gifts."

After eight years of complaints perhaps the Texans organization should follow the example of other business organizations and just give us what we paid for.

I had planned to place my gift in my sports room along with my other keepsakes, but instead I will now place my tickets in it and proudly wear it to the game today. I just noticed the slot in the back. I can put my cash, license, and credit card in it and leave my purse at home.

What we paid for? A playoff football team?

Just another reason I'd love the 18-game schedule....that way I only have to pay FULL price for one SCRIMMAGE. If not, charge me 1/2 price for pre-season games and they can keep the gifts.

They will always be hit or miss depending on the fan.

My favorites have been the flag and the apron - tailgating related.

My wife likes the flag and some of the binders (she uses them in her job).

Neither of us like the lanyards - but about everyone else in our tailgating group wears them.

I like the gifts, it creates a Christmas feeling with the tickets.

I really like the lanyards, after each game I tear out the tickets to the next game and place them in the lanyards, I then hang both of them in on a column that I have in a hallway by the living room. So I pass by them everyday, and remind me a game is coming up, and I get a warm tinglely feeling everytime I see them.

I always find this to be an interesting view point. To me, the per-ticket price is irrelevant. If my tickets cost $60/each, then I look at it as a $600-per-seat cost for the season. I view it this way simply because $600-per-seat is what the Texans are charging, and budgeting for. They just choose to spread it out evenly over the regular season and (meaningless) pre-season.

As it stands, whatever incremental cost with including these items pales in comparison to even 1/4 of an average single pre-season ticket price.

All "gifts" aren't created equally - This isn't my toddler showing me the best she can do with a crayon - this is a multi-BILLION dollar enterprise that gave me something out of middle school shop class this year.

I have only one other team to compare which is the Cowboys. My season tickets are the same price every game, 10 ticket book, and the unfortunate part for us is we don't have any preseason game tickets that we can charge twice the face value to make it seem worthwhile. Heck ain't nobody going to cough up $79 when they can get a party pass for next to nothing. For die hard fans that like to stand up the whole game in the endzone, $29 is the best bargain in town.

Speaking of gifts, the only extra we get with the tickets is a 15 percent discount card that can be used in the Cowboys stores. The other benefit, as with the Texans is advance notification and ticket purchases for other events held at the stadium which IMO is a nice perk.

I still feel that the different gift item each year is a nice thank you gesture extended by the Texans organization. If the price of the ticket has been set at $70 it is going to be that regardless of whether they include anything extra or not. I would hate for them to grow weary of the complaints and decide to just scrap idea.

All teams charge the same for their pre-season and regular season games. So the comparison is accurate. Whether they call it "per-game ticket" pricing or "average ticket" pricing, its all the same. Would I feel better about paying $40 per pre-season ticket and $65 for regular season (as opposed to $60 across the board)? Meh.. to me, its irrelevant.

I'm not certain here, but isn't this the same with the NBA and MLB? Don't all 3 leagues charge the same, pre-season or regular season?

It's like your grocery shopping card, you're not saving squat because they marked other items up.
