ESPN's Tom Jackson Predicts a Super Bowl for the Texans!

HOLY CRAP!

If ESPN analyst Tom Jackson is correct, there will be a Texas team at Super Bowl XLV next February at Cowboys Stadium.

But it won't be the Dallas Cowboys.

On Wednesday, Jackson, the former Broncos linebacker and longtime analyst on ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown, picked the Texans and Green Bay Packers to play for the Lombardi Trophy.

"I think this is a team that is ready to get to the playoffs," Jackson said. "I know that they're in a tough division with a team that always wins 12 games (the Colts), and much will be found out in that first game.

"But keep in mind that the last two years, we have had the New Orleans Saints win the Super Bowl and the Arizona Cardinals in the Super Bowl. This is not a league of haves and have-nots. It's the haves and the 'we will have pretty soons.' "

While he made his living on defense for many years, Jackson said offense in today's NFL "is where you make hay," and the Texans are set in that department with the likes of Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson.

"I think that Matt Schaub is highly underrated for what he does," Jackson said. "So I'm taking my shot with a team that has played pretty darn good defense and has an awfully good passing game."

Pretty wild to go eight years without a playoff berth and then have a fairly respected member of the media throw his hat into the ring with your name on it.

THIS is nice to hear. I've seen where other media-types have predicted Houston to go far but it didn't mean squat because it doesn't mean squat when they bash the Texans. Tom Jackson is a guy I like and respect. If he say's that it carries some degree of weight with me. :fans:

I like it, and that's the same thing I've been thinking Packers & the Texans, and Houston wins it all.

Buy your tickets now. At least put some money aside for two play-off games.

In recent years somebody was always hying the Texans for the playoffs before the season starts. We'll see Sunday if this year is gonna be any different than past years when the hype dies off verry quickly after the season starts ?

Golic picked the Texans for a wild card this morning on Mike and Mike. Greenberg had Tennessee winning division on a tiebreaker over Indy. He said he was considering Tennessee and us for the slot but went with them.

All this means is if we don't make it, instead of being called an up and coming team, we are called a disappointing team. It's nice to be looked upon with higher regard by the press, but it's a two edge sword.

But since the Texans are a much better team than they once were, and folks are noticing that, I suppose we should get used to the attention - both good and bad.

I believe Jackson was a teammate of Kubiak in Denver. Maybe Kubes has expressed his confidence in his group to Jackson....or maybe there's a little wishful thinking for his friend and Denver teammate in his pick.

Either way, I've always had respect for Jackson's opinion, so nice. Let's make him look like a prophet.

I'm with you. I will be optimistic, I believe that we can win but I also remember all the previous hype so I'll wait and root and believe.

Just ran into a co-worker in the hallway at work.

Him: "I hear you're a big Texans fan."

Me: "Season Ticket holder."

Him: "They're going to the Super Bowl."

Me, after I laughed a bit: "I hope so."

He look at me with a straight face, and said, "Super Bowl" then walked away.

I was astonished at how matter-of-fact and confident he was about his prediction.

Damn.

Is he also a Texans fan?

And Mickey Mouse will give Andre a high five in the parade too !!! Predictions are like buttholes, we all got one !

If God would come down from Heaven and grant me a single wish in this mortal life, it would be that the Texans win the first-ever Super Bowl in JerryWorld. I'd forego all subsequent Super Bowls for the one coming up.

Maybe he just hates Cowboy fans?

There aren't too many teams that would really piss off Jerry Jones and the Cowboys fans more than the Texans making the Super Bowl. The only one's I can think of would be division rivals Redskins, Eagles, Giants and any NFC team that kicks their ass in the playoffs.

I think everyone realizes how much TALENT we have. It is time for the Texans to tighten the screws in the mental aspect and our team could be SUPER.

That'd be great, eriadoc.

And 50 years from now, I will look you up and find your house. And I will punch you in your wrinkly face for cursing us to ONE Super Bowl win. It's going to be nice to watch the NFL commentators make mention of the Great Texans Super Bowl Curse.

Fan-freaking-tastic.

You need to get the stank of that statement off you, sir. Stuff like that has ramifications. ;)

Well the hypemobile will get you some flags thrown in your favor (Brady, Manning, Favre, Cowboys) so I say bring on the hype but winning will make sure they always throw flags in your favor.

Did he do the "double index finger-point" at you as he walked away?

So let me get this straight. There are game after the Reular Season????

And what about this Bowl of Super. I had no idea, but I hope we get there.

Sorry, 8 years has taken its toll.

Dude.

No.

Multiple SBs > 1 SB.

I think the hype is awesome, however it is a little scary. It sort of takes my breath away when I read stuff like that. Kind of lilke "don't jinx us, don't jinx us, don't anyone say anything until we know we are going to the playoffs."

I bet it stokes the guys though to get that recognition. could be the last cog in the wheel that they need to believe it and do it.

Jerry Jones and the cowgirls - read it and weep!!!! :fortune:

IF we win a Super Bowl in Dallas, it will shut up Cowboys fans' hate FOREVER. This sounds much too good to be true, but I want it to happen so very, very much.

Just the thought of that happening BLOWS MY MIND! Can you EVEN imagine it! And just think of the ride through the year we would have been on to get there. OMG!!! Please God, help it happen........:glasshalffull:

Not only that, but we would also FINALLY shut up the Vince Young fans, and, finally, let the Houston Oiler franchise go. I'm not saying people shouldn't cherish their Oiler memories. I'm just saying that the Oilers no longer exist, and at some point people have to come to terms with it.

N:zipit:pe. It'll just make them say..."Yeah...well when ya get four more...give us a call."

I LOVE this passion, and I'm right there with ya! I refuse to allow myself to get into the "what if's!" We haven't played a friggin reg season game yet, so I'm gonna keep on believing!!! I'll worry about the possible fallout later!!

In which we can say "Oh our franchise started in 2002 so we are only worried about Super Bowls from 2002 and forward."

Then they will realize that we reached and won a Super Bowl faster in our short 8 year history.

I think that may be a little presumptuous.

They hadn't won a play off game in a decade & they were still running off at the mouth.

You won't shut up Cowboy fans, but we'll finally have something to argue with. Like we need anything..

other than 19-10.

As much as I like Tom Jackson, I think this was just a shout out to his old teammate, Kubes....

A little homerism but if the Texans could win the Super Bowl in Dallas, the house Jerry built, it would shut up Cowboy fan forever....
