My First UH Football Game!

Texan4Ever

All Pro
So today I attended my very first UH football game against the Texas State Bobcats. We got decent seats behind the field goal which gave us good views of the game (I watched UH score two TDs within a few minutes or thats what it seemed like).

Although it was a blowout, it was fun nonetheless and I plan on going to more Cougar games if possible. UH won 68-28 BTW.

GO COOGS!

UH games are fun - high scoring, with actual hope for real progress these days. If we can manage to hang on to Sumlin for a while, the program might be for real.

Also, from the SI recap of the game:

Keenum only played the first half, but had touchdown passes of 40 yards to Michael Hayes, 63 yards to Patrick Edwards, 25 and 21 yards to Kierrie Johnson and 17 yards to James Cleveland as Houston built a 54-7 halftime lead.

Keenum, who also had two interceptions, set career school records for completions (1,098) and yards passing (13,179) in the win - breaking the marks held by current Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb.

I would have loved to see the game maybe just a tad closer so Case Keenum could have passed for over 300 yards and possibly 6 TDs.

But next week's game against UTEP is a huge one (on ESPN), and when these two teams face off it's an all out shoot-out (Case had over 500 yards passing last time). They are the team that made us lose that #12 ranking in the polls so it's revenge time.

It's always a fun atmosphere at the Rob and the Coogs have yet to lose a game at home there in over two years!

This was the biggest crowd ever at Robertson Stadium. 32,119. It was a sell-out.

The tailgating at UH has a great atmosphere and the games are always fun.

The games were fun but I have to admit UT games are at a another level, the stadium, the band, etc hopefully UH can get to that level one day. The crowd was rather drunk and unusuall but the fans inside the stadium were great and clearly involved, jumping up and down and screaming...everything you want in a college game.

Case Keenum started off great but had 2 picks (none of which were his fault iirc). I was suprised to hear he had broken Kolb's record as Kolb was and is one of my favorite UH QBs to ever play. He was amazing against Hawaii back in 2003.

Keenum, from what I saw, is a very smart and accurate player and has great pocket awareness. Good game by RB Beall who had a decent outing as well as Carrier and Robert(son?).

Looking foward to the UTEP game!

Speaking of UT. Two of their prick fans were thrown out of Roberston Stadium by the cops. Way to go HPD!!

I was suprised by the number of UT fans their at the game. Me and my friends were like, "What the heck are they doing here, they do know the games at Reliant, right?"

Join Coog Crew, free seats right by the tunnel where the UH players go in/out, around the 15 yard line I think.

Students only. They had tables on the first week of school, you can try going to the Athletic Director's office like I did.

Yup!! I suspect Friday night will be a little payback for the Miners!!

It was tough to root for either team now that I am a Cougar, but got my undergrad at Texas State. I saw some of the Cougar tailgating and it was okay, but I ended up at the Texas State one and I couldn't pass up free beer and hot women. I left with a bunch of friends at half time to go eat and change before rolling out to Washington Ave.

Glad you enjoyed the game. Please come out to another game this year. We want as many fans as possible at every game.
The tailgating is awesome and the games will always have plenty of offense. Maybe this year we can get a little defense... at least on our side.

Not sure about that... While I was extremely pleased with the offense, the defense still gave up 28 to TSU!.. All in all though, it was a fun game. Glad I was there!!!

I think we were trying out stuffs on defense!?!?

Welcome to all the new cougars fans.
Go Coogs!

LonerATO, who can blame you, LOL!

Okay??? Are you nuts?? Coogs tailgate the right way!!!!

So they were wearing UT clothes to a game in which their team wasn't playing? Lol...

What did they do to get thrown out?

I'm also curious about what they did to get thrown out.

I can understand the UT clothes since they were playing later that evening at Reliant. My best guess is they were doing a double-header.

iirc, UT played before UH so I'm guessing some of their fans came to Rob to watch the UH-TxSt game. I think some of the fans were thrown out for being to rowdy or for drunkeness.

Two typically arrogant punk UT fans wearing UT shirts in the UH student section giving the FU to the crowd and flashing the hook em signs.

Not a good idea in the middle of the student section. They had to be escorted out.

I saw several people with burnt orange too... I did however see a couple of people in Texas gear that must've left the game at Reliant, but changed into red gear once they got settled.

To the bolded, I'm sure it involved typical asshatery!!

I wish I could have been there. My dad is a UH grad and seems to think he can still handle going to Cougar games. These days my job is to go over there and talk him down off that idea. We've had issues with him and his brothers at games the couple of years.

Houston tailgating is the best. I first game I saw in a good while was right after I went on the wagon. People were literally handing me beers "as a favor to them." Next time I'm leaving the wagon at home.

Fun to read this thread guys. Does my heart good to see some Coog love here.

A vast majority of "UT" fans or as I call them "t-shirt Longhorn fans" actually go to Texas State, but wear UT gear all the time.

Most TSU fans were cool!!! I sometimes saw a Coog fan with a TSU girlfriend (and vice-ersa). I asked how that worked out? (Coogs. v. Bobcats)... In every case Albeit ( boy / girl or Girl / Boy) it worked out well, for both parties!!

Go Coogs Go!!!
