So... The good, the bad & the cowboys

The good:

-D looked very active. mario & amobi stood out to me most watching live

-the offence looked unstoppable for the most part with the o-line creating nice lanes for arian and him taking them and more. schaub was, for the most part, unmolested in the pocket tonight :)

-diles made a real nice tackle on the first drive

-the jackson int was just a nice D play all round. great play by pollard, nice catxh & run by KJ and i also lol'd at cushing the moment coco caught it- he busted his ass to KTFO of an o-lineman 5 yds behind the play. we'll miss him

-no turnovers

the bad:

-some BS calls by the refs- gq's PI, diles' 15 yder, missing a blatant hold on diles the play before the int

-the cowboys. give credit to our guys but i struggle to believe the boys will play that poorly in week 3

Yeah, I laughed my ass off at that too! He knocked the piss out of that boy.

I pretty much echo your thoughts. I think our special teams need some serious work on kick offs. We are giving up way too many yards on returns. It may not be long runs, but letting your opponent start at their 30 everytime is not a good thing.

I thought our D looked solid and our O is what it was last year. Our red zone problems better get fixed or it will cost us a lot of games this season, especially with the teams we play. We've been great between the 20s, but we can't seem to punch it in when it comes down to the nut cuttin'. Hopefully they've got something planned for that and they were just keeping it concealed until the games count. I don't know, but it worries me.

Overall, I thought we looked a million times better than last week and I hope we can dominate like that when it counts.

What stood at to me the most was the fans at the game. Online Reliant sounded loud! Throughout the pregame everyone was mentioning all of the Cowgirl fans who showed up, but the stadium sounded nuts.

We scored 23 points. While we did not score a TD in every red zone opportunity, we did get points. I don't think that red zone scoring was an issue tonight. 2 td's and 3 fg's will win a lot of games.

I also don't think we're really opening up the playbook for the red zone stuff. I expect to rely more on the run for awhile so that teams will overplay that and then work more play action.

I don't think they did much play action in the red zone at all tonight and with that rushing attack and Schaub's run fakes, I think we'd have had a couple of TD's from that.

AND, Chris Myers' hold took away one of Foster's TDs in the Red Zone.

I didn't see that hold at first. I thought those refs were pulling some America's team ****.

Then I saw the replay, while it wasn't obvious, and probably goes uncalled 9 times out of 10. But it was a hold, right at the point of attack.

Jacoby Jones.

I think he's reason enough to get excited about this upcoming season. Especially when OD comes back, especially if the plan is to put him in as the third receiver, with AJ, Walter, and OD on the field.

I thought our red zone play was pretty atrocious. We kill ourselves with penalties and negative plays. Our offense looks so good between the 20's because of the way we can spread the field. I'm hoping Foster will be able to make some headway in the red zone.

I was also a little worried about Schaub, he had some really errant passes tonight. Fortunately none turned into INTs. I'm hoping there's nothing wrong with his throwing mechanic and he's was just a little off.

This offense is on the verge of becoming a great offense. Up there with the Saints, Packers and Colts. They just gotta fix the red zone problems.

Shhhh. You don't want to let the cat out of the bag about the Halfback Pass.

Yeah, that's gonna be kick ass. :)

Why?

Penalties isn't the thing that stops us in the Redzone, in the regular season.

Schaub doesn't throw errant passes in the regular season.

Why do we put more emphasis on preseason games than we do regular season games?

Bingo. Me too. The over thrown pass to AJ and a couple other passes wide right or left. That can't happen in the regular season against good teams. You give up 4 pts when u kick a FG and that won't get it done.

the good WE BEAT THOES SORRY OL COWGIRLSthere fans we this---- :zipit:

the hole game

and hey everytime has problems in the red zone i gets harder u know because the D has less ground to cover

anywayz im just glad we won lets have a good game for our 2nd and 3rd stringers on thur then get rdy to beat teh COLTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm happy we won and that our team looked good doing it, but I will wait to get excited until the regular season game.

I went to NFL.com and got on the Cowboy's website to check out their forum. I was curious how their feelings were about this game and they're right where I figured they'd be. There's a mixed bag of "chicken littles" and the "it's only preseason, it doesn't matter how we looked" fans. I couldn't help but get the sense like those fans are really arrogant while I was lurking around. They just seem like they have a sense of entitlement or something (just a feeling I got) Anyways, here's a quote from one of their posters:

Doug Free and Holland cannot block consistent.
Defensive line put no pressure.
We could not stop the run and it wasnt a big time rusher.
Too many missed tackles.
Dropped balls.
Ball is not the answer at safety and cannot tackle.Miss coverages.
Andre Johnson was open all day.
We faces a team that only has one talented receiver and we coulnt stop the offense.

I couldn't help but chuckle at his last comment. I'd like to think that WR is one of our strongest groups on this team, and as an overall unit, I honestly think that our WR group ranks right up there with the best of them in the league. To be fair, the poster may not follow the Texans at all, but we do have other WRs that are a "threat" other than Andre.

Here's a link to the page that I quoted from:http://www.truebluefanclub.com/socialnet/forums.cfm?plckForumPage=ForumDiscussion&plckDiscussionId=Cat%3a24d8e8bc-b132-4a6f-81fa-ab728a950ed1Forum%3a140ede96-a57c-412f-826a-3047cb49bbe1Discussion%3a48375c0b-f1d7-49a7-952a-48fcf01072e1&plckCurrentPage=0

The good:
Run defense
Pass rush
Rushing attack
Pass protection (mostly)

Stand outs:
A.Foster
A.Okoye
J.Jones
AJ
A.Smith

Bad
When the pass rush didn't get there our young corners got abused
Settled for field goals in the red zone
No free beer?
No naked cheer leaders?

Let downs:
Schaub - maybe a little nit picky since he was still very good, but he was off the mark and I know he can be a lot better than he showed tonight.
Starting corners Quin/Jackson didn't look sharp when the passrush wasn't covering for them. Quin especially. He needs to be used against possession receivers or in a flat zone. If he's being asked to play man to man on speedy receivers or cover a deep 1/3 in a cover 3 then he's going to get Petey'ed a lot.

Ugly -
Jerry Jones
Cowgirls

phase one complete now for phase 2 beat dallas wk 3

40 to Zero

then i like to see what the dallas fans will be talking about

I think we tried to REALLY push the run, and if that was the purpose I like what I saw.

One thing that surprised me was the lack of passes to our TE's, stats-wise I can see 2 completed passes to em, but I do not remember seening many more than that.

All in all a nice showing, players on both sides of the ball showed focus and intensity, both things that we lacked in last weeks game against NO.
