Did anyone listen to 610 tonight while Winston was on at Wing Stop (guess Hooters got the boot)?

I only heard 10 minutes, but they were laughing at the radio caller/message board poster reaction to his comments about players missing their families and wanting to go home.

My question - did he say we're taking those out of context and he did not mean to imply they phoned it in?

IIRC, he pretty much laughed it off and yeah, basically said it was an overreaction. Or maybe that was Rich who said that.

Have you listened to the interview? He was asked if it was tiring to be gone from home so long. He replied that yes it was, the team was ready to play a good game and go home. I don't see what the big deal is.

OK, I can understand then. Trust me, when you listen to entire interview, what he said was no big deal. But some sensationalist idjits decided to make a story out of it to justify their Texan bashing.

That's what you'll have to do to get past the point you are at right now. It's been said a few times, but people will look to villify a phrase or a snippet when they aren't happy with a performance. I heard the whole interview and when it was still being talked about later that night I knew somebody took a small portion of it and just ran with it.

Maybe that's what they need. I've been on record saying our camp is soft. Sure, there's heat, but they're in shorts 90% of the time where they'd be in full pads almost anywhere else.

Hell we are able to sit around on a message board and complain about a game that we don't even play...

I'm pretty sure that there is someone in the world that can look at yours or my situation and basically do a comparison like you did to Winston and King crab fisherman.

If I'm gone from home over the weekend I miss my family and my home...Doesn't make me a pucee or a wuss...Just means that I'm in a situation that I'm not ussed to being in.

If we go by the guideline that someone has it worse than you so you shouldn't complain then the only people we should hear bitchin out of is Titan fan. That's about as low as it gets.

But there are people starving in the world. How can you possibly find time to complain about comments from football player ?

I don't see how the money you make has anything to do with being in a situation you aren't used to being in or aren't as comfortable in as you normally are.

Missing your home and family is missing your home and family.

Like I said, you can always find someone that has it worse than you so in essence we shouldn't be complaining either....right?

I mean, the Jags are on the brink of losing their franchise and here we are complaining about how our team is playing and comments that they make.

LOL! While I appreciate your sincere reply, you are taking my post much more seriously than I ever intended.

Honestly, I don't really care about the Winston comments. I've been catching up on the recent season of "Deadliest Catch", so king crab fishing is on my mind. Those guys have a brutal job, but they chose to do it.

As far as his comments, he should've known - being the somewhat media savy player that he is - that fans would jump on his words after watching such a pathetic display of football fundamentals by the team.

Houston football fans are simply tired of losers. Can anyone blame us after 8 seasons of mediocrity? So any excuse/reason can be blown up in that kind of atmosphere, and with local sports talk hosts stirring the pot, it is what it is.

Personally, I think it's cool that Winston is a family man. I'm a family man and I spend way more time at work than I would like. However, success requires sacrifice. That's just the way it is at the end of the day. And don't bring your family into the subject of business. It just clouds the subject, regardless of intent. That's why this thread exists.
