Texas’ Thomas pulls hamstring after 4.37-second 40

Earl Thomas already was in good standing with NFL scouts after an impressive combine performance last month. But the safety outdid himself - and every other prospect Texas had on display - at the school’s pro day Wednesday before suffering a setback.

i dont know if this was posted yet

Every prospect is running about a tenth of a second faster then they did at the combine. So I don't he slips or goes up with this new time.

If he slips past the Jags, The Steelers or Titans will take him. Both have been known to take Texas players and this guy will help anyone's defense.

The Chron is saying he coul dbe Top 10 now. I haven't read or heard anything from LZ or anyone that his hamstring was hurt.

Some say Colts workout was much better than Bradfords too.

I don't think Thomas injured anything, he just tweaked his hamstring while running his 40 so he sat through everything else.

Colt's workout was pretty much exactly like Bradford's except he did more rollouts and scouts got to see him throw on the run.

lol this just proves to me how absurd the 40 time has become.

A guy runs at a speed so foreign to him that he injures himself.

And thats enough to propel him 10-20 draft spots

Agree 100%. Everyone says OH THE 40 IS OVERRATED!!! Then a guy runs a sub 4.4 and all of the sudden his stock is sky high...

Its a never ending situation.

I hear the same statement about a ton of players every year. We will just have to wait and see what happens.

Yeah there was no way I thought Eric Winston would last untill the third round. We got our RT cheap. Anything is possible. there should be excellent options of us at the tweny. whether they stay there or nor.

Agree completely BUT I can kind of see some of it for safeties because a 40 can represent closing speed....basically running without the ball.

Yep. Thurman Thomas dropped into the second round.

But I'm not counting on seeing Earl fall into our lap.

What will kill me is if he's there and the Texans don't take him.

The Longhorn players we have are average at best. If we are going to draft a safety I would rather have Taylor Mays just becuase of his physical prescence. Sometimes it may be better to draft from a program and sorry longhorn fans but the USC players just seem to show out much better in the NFL.

I don't think that's a bad idea and I'm a Longhorn fan. That being said, with that thought/scouting process, you got to take a look at some of the DBs that UT has turned out and their success in the NFL.

Jerry Gray (All Pro)
Stanley Richards (I believe made the Pro Bowl)
Quentin Jammer (I believe made the Pro Bowl)
Michael Westbrook (played well until injuries took over)
Michael Griffin (I believe he's been very good for Tennessee)
Nathan Vasher (did well before injuries, still in the league)
Heck you can even put Willie Mack Garza in that group because he became a starter for Detroit I believe.

hes a lock for the raiders. him or taylor mays

Yeah, but they did take a safety in the second round last year. So maybe someone in that organization will realize that getting a LT is the most important thing right now. Then draft a QB in the 3rd or 4th.
