Eli Manning Won't Take The Rest Of Hospital Money

Not really that magnanimous if the hospital is filing for bankruptcy. He would have lost it anyway.

Yeah, plus, what's a half a million against a debt of $700 million? A drop in the bucket.

I think the Manning's are good people, but this ain't much. Heck, he'd already taken the first 500 K from them. Read the whole story and it doesn't make him out to be anything special, if you ask me.

Good for him, and as for taking the $ in the first place, it was a contract signed in good faith, so if he did work, he deserved to get paid. So they are falling on hard times, I get that, but that doesn't mean just because he has millions he should work for free.. I am glad he has decided to not take the rest and to continue to work for free for them...
Hospitals may be going broke, but if you cannot afford to go after athletes to promote your place of business, then it is on them to decide which is best overall. Eli Manning has done the right thing, and those slamming him can do whatever...

It's not slamming him to state reality. If he was going to lose the money anyway then he really wasn't giving anything up. I certainly didn't say he was somehow a bad guy just that this wasn't some great act of altruism that shows some stellar moral fiber. Now he may have stellar moral fiber, but this isn't a great example.

I wasn't refering to you IC... It was in response to the write up how some people have slammed him for even taking any of it..

It's funny how people would like to see sports players work for free just because they make millions no one on here I am just saying.

I suppose its a nice thing he did .... especially the part about continuing to help them in the future without cost.

The thing for me is that I dont like endorsements - Save that money you would have paid that actor , athlete or politician and use it to create a better product or service. Give people a better product and they will buy.
How much cheaper would a pair of Nike's be if they didnt pay Lebron ....
Or am I just in the minority here and are American's so shallow that they believe they need to pay extra for a product just because Tiger or Peyton say they use it ?

Unfortunately Americans really are that shallow.

Personally I wear ascics gel nimbus running shoes - that's an unpaid endorsement right there. They are absurdly comfortable and very well designed, which really helps me because I have bad knees.
