dont woory its not just you that finds it pretty sad. its one thing if a guys been an asshole or constantly in trouble i wouldnt rly care as much then

Sad indeed, you never know when your life on this Earth will be your last, my thoughts and prayers are with the Adams family.

But he died of a heart attack? Was it the weight? He had just gotten married, too.
 
It does not matter who the person is or what they have done well, maybe OBL but I do not wish death upon anyone or make fun of them unless they are really evil like killers. Even then I just trust what goes around comes around and they will be juged and taken care of by God when their day comes. Ill will on anyone isn't anything to ever wish for upon anyone and should be saved for the really evil or for God to juge as I said before. RIP Mr. Adams this is very sad news and his family and friends have my thoughts and prayers along with the entire NFL.

i for one hope people don't pretend to fake anguish over my meaningless death and can actually find humor in it. i'm sure Gaines would say the same thing if he were still alive (assuming he wasn't face-first in the turf from a pancake block and could actually speak)

I mean it's not really surprising that he died, he could never break through a block(age)
 
Sorry. There is NOTHING funny about it and honestly I'm surprised anybody could justify really bad jokes about it.

I think it's really classless.

I hear jokes about dead people and I have actually said some but , I think at least some would wait until the dust settled about what happened before the jokes fly.

I am sure some would change their tune if one of their relatives just died and had to start hearing jokes about them right away before the shock wore off
 
I'm very sorry to hear that this happened and I feel for his surviving family and friends who will have to deal with this. Very tragic and not at all something to joke about. It seems like often when you get someone this young dying from this you have either a heart defect or some kind of substance abuse. I know there will be speculation until the toxicology report comes out but I don't understand why the coroner is saying it will be "a couple of months" before we see that. Does it really take that long to figure out what was in his bloodstream? I'd think knowing the answer to that would be pretty high on the list of everyone concerned.

I so totally agree with you Terri!! Completely classless, and really sad that some people would find humor in someone else's pain. My prayers to his family and friends!!
 
People just don't give a damn any more. Plus the anonymity of internet allows you to be as much of a jerk as you want to be without having to be accountable.
 
I once went to some lineman's website where he proclaimed he was the next stepped in human evolution, and its easy to see why. They're so big and so strong... and they're lives so short. Professional football players tend to not live very long in general but its lineman in particular who have abbreviated lives. At 26 this Adams Gaines was already middle age in lineman years. I believe their average expectancy is something like 53 or 54.

Its sad. Lineman have the hearts of lions but that doesn't help those hearts deal with the incredible strain those massive bodies place on them.

Yea you're right. But goodness there are heartbroken family over this not to mention his friends and his football family.

Perhaps if it was their son..their brother...people might think differently.

The jokes were so uncalled for and really tasteless.

What if this was a Houston Texan player and one of our members went to the Bears board and they were joking about this. Would THAT be funny?

It's like feeding a stray cat. You know damn well it's going to show up on your front door the next morning at 6 a.m.

I saw this scroll across the bottom on ESPN Countdown this morning and I figured I'd stop by here when I got a chance to see what people thought about his passing. Foolish me, I never thought for one moment that I'd see people making fun of his death. That's a really low form of humanity and you should feel like ****.

Bingo, 90% of the people on this board wouldn't open their mouths if they were in a face to face with me, or others on this board. I know this as I've met many at Texans events, and they didn't espouse such ignorance in person :)
 
My condolences are offered to the family and friends of Gaines Adams. I can't imagine the grief they must be experiencing at this time.

Really sad. Its one thing when someone involved in a whole bunch of shady ventures ends up getting what most people would have predicted, but when an upstanding guy dies of a biological cause like this, its a real tragedy. Condolenses to him and his family.

To the ones making jokes, its pretty pathetic. Im not easy to offend, and yet this bothers me . I can't imagine what that guys family is going through. Pretty sad when you get your jollies from mnaking fun of someone who's just died
