Working?
Offense:
Ranked 4th with 383 yards per game
Passing offense was 1st, with 291 yards per game
Ranked 10th with 24.3 points per game
Our rush offense really bogged down, ranking 30th
Despite such a high ranking offense, our 3rd down percentage was average at 40.2% (15th), probably due to the lack of a run game
We were awesome on 4th down, converting 67% (5th)
We were average with 93 penalties (15th) for 833 yards (12th)

Defense:
Ranked 13th with 324.9 yards per game
Pass defense was ranked 18th (218 y/game)
Rush defense was 11th (106.9 y/game)
-Without those first 3 debacles, our rush D would have been a top 10 unit
We were 17th in scoring, allowing 20.8 points per game
We were below average on 3rd down, allowing conversions 39.3% of the time (ranked 20th)
We were quite good on 4th down, allowing conversions 43% of the time (ranked 8th)
We were about average with penalties, accruing 92 (14th) for 728 yards (11th)

Our final turnover margin was -2

Just by looking at those stats you can tell where we need to improve. Oline, DB and RB.

I think the run/pass defensive numbers are a little misleading. We played with a lot of huge leads that forced our opponents to chuck the ball all over the field and abandon the running game. When they've really needed to stop the run it's been a struggle. Prime example would be @ Jax when they ran it 5 times and got 2 1st downs to run out the clock.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I think improvement along the Dline is needed too. However, we got better at stopping the run as the season progressed. Our pass D did not, IMO. There were a handful of games we just couldn't get off the field on 3rd downs.

In the end, I'm ok with the overall improvement on the defensive side this past season, considering what we've been accustom to. Do I expect more next season? Dadgum right I do. Our D has the potential to be awesome.

We were ranked highly in 4th down conversions and very low in kicking percentage.
I wish we would have gone for it more rather than letting K. Brown miss countless FGs!

Obviously the team improved from the year before. Without a few missed FGs and a couple of ill timed fumbles, we'll be pumping up for the playoffs right now.

4th best offense, 13th best defense and don't make the playoffs. Did not win up to the talent. "It's on me." Maybe coaching is where improvement is needed. Maybe in 2011...
