The Redskins fired coach Jim Zorn early Monday, the first step in yet another team overhaul that appears likely to involve Mike Shanahan, who flew to Washington on owner Dan Snyder's plane in mid-afternoon.
An unidentified official within the NFL informed The Associated Press that new Redskins general manager Bruce Allen talked to Shanahan by phone Monday, and league sources told NFL Network's Jason La Canfora to expect an organizational overhaul by Thursday but maybe sooner.
The Washington Post reports that the Redskins will name Mike Shanahan their next head coach on Tuesday, "barring unforeseen glitches."
Shanahan arrived at club headquarters at 3ET Monday. The rest of the Skins' coaching staff will reportedly undergo a "sweeping change," with Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer the apparent favorite to take over the same position in D.C. Shanahan's son, Kyle, will coordinate the offense. NFL Network's Mike Lombardi also reported Monday that Mike Shanahan will be named team president, giving him significant influence over all personnel.
It appears to be moving pretty fast. Shanny Jr might be gone by the end of the week if not sooner.

Dang ... that means more competition for the same type players . Their OL is in shambles , so maybe they start there .
The personel changes need to start happening beginning a little higher than Zorn really. Snyder really is doing a really good job of screwing up that franchise once and for all. Zorn is better off out of that place....there ain't much to coach with there, and the fiasco of the play calling crap going on mid season didn't help.
The Skins are just an ultra messy organization at the moment.
