Cowboys v Philly

HoustonFrog

Dallas Frog
I like how we got on the board early but that interception was bad on the tip. Could have been 14-0. They need to put points up vs the Eagles. I want the division

17-0....kicker made it. Glad Folk got cut

Roy Williams isn't good

Folk had to go. I still think he has some kind of residual effect from his hip surgery but he couldn't kick anymore so that's too bad.

RW isn't good..boy are you right about that...although I loved him at UT where he was money. Argh.

well the eagles look just like the cowboys did last year

Eh maybe...but they probably aren't quitters...the Cowboys just flat out quit last year. Cowboys will have to continue to bring it to win.

My vote for team that had quit would be the Giants.

yeah the giants just laid there and took it.......HARD

i really thought after the beating they took last week they would come out with some fire but i guess not!

You know I cannot remember reading one single thing about Coughlin being on the hot seat this year.

He was a few years ago and they went on to win the SB...but not this year.

I wonder if he is on the hotseat?

winning the sb gave coach coughlin at least three years of wiggle room
plus with a new stadium i doubt the mara family would want to rock the boat

Yea you may be right about that wiggle room. I never have seen his name as a coach that could be fired.

He's an older guy though..maybe he'll decide to retire. Maybe it's not worth it to him anymore.

That's just me talking though..I've never heard him say that.

Division Champs!!!I'll take that after all the talk about them. The NFC East never goes tro the pre-season fave of late. Our reward...Philly again

not a fan of the blue stars but i think they have philly's number this year but beating a team three times is tough!

How weird to have to play them again next week. I'll take it though!

Always nice to kick some Eagles butt. Hasn't happened much lately. They didn't look very prepared to me.

The Cowboys have had a really good season. I think they over achieved and at least beat many people's expectations. Beating Philly at the end of the year unlike what happened last season was nice icing on the cake for them. They'll have to do it again though which is going to be a grudge match for both. Beating NO and the Eagles both at the end of the season should be good for their confidence.

yea that's a tall order beating them 3 times. We'll see. Never know but they are playing good defense and the Eagles can't seem to cover Witten.

What worries me is that it reminds me of 2 years ago. Won the division, beat the Giants convincingly twice and then the Giants took it to them. I think Romo and the team is different this year though and that year they had the bye. Right now they keep playing and using the momentum. Hopefully they make a little noise. You are right....a year many didn't expect. Miles Austin really turned them around

If they'd get real smart they'd take out Williams and put in Ogletree...but we know that's not gonna happen.

Eagles will beat the Cowboys next week. The Eagles played as bad as they could tonight and the Cowboys played lights out. The Cowboys beat the Giants twice in 2007. Then, the playoffs happened. If the Cowboys do win though, they could be in Miami.

One good thing Frog is that when Columbo got hurt that Doug Free came in and played very well on the O line. That was a concern but the guy has played very well.

Jenkins stepped up too...he played like a girl last year but he's been great this year.

Romo finally the leader we all wanted as well..different QB this year.

I mentioned the Giants above. But this wasn't a case of just the Cowboys getting a bad week from Philly while finally playing well. They played lights out vs the Saints. The shut down the Skins in Washington and then this game. They seem to be hot at the right time. But next week could go either way. I'm glad its at home

Yup. Romo has been impressive, even in the defeats

100K at the game today Frog...big numbers.

Jerry made some money this week with the "Cotton Bowl" game Sat and then today.

How weird is it to have the "Cotton Bowl" game there and not in the Cotton Bowl?

Funny though, I don't know if you remember but Miles Austin was actually the one underrated WR I thought the Cowboys had all last season. I'm sure you remember how badly I bashed the Cowboys for having TO and all, and talked about how they needed to get rid of his ass and how it could make their team better regardless of the drop off in talent. I remember you were probably the only Cowboy fan I had talked to that saw the same thing and wanted TO gone. Then Jerry's sons and other people from team management finally did it, and it totally made their team chemistry better. I saw glimpes of Miles Austin's play making abilities last season, but I can't say that I ever expected him to play like an ELITE WR this season. He was arguably the best WR in football with the exception to AJ when you consider his stats through all the games he played. Romo proved that he's a good QB. I've argued with a lot of people about that for the last few years. He's not elite but he's a very good QB to me and always has been since becoming the starter. The Cowboys got rid of the locker room cancer from last season and they ended up winning the division. How you like them apples TO? Lol!

Yup, TO wasn't who they needed. People were still saying that earlier this year. He just hampered the development of other guys because he was force fed balls. Romo has played consistent and kept his head on this year. They can easily lose this week but I like the leadership and the direction at this point compared to past years.

Agreed. Miles Austin has proven that he can play his ass off in this league. Jerry screwed some of his finances with that horribly stupid deal that he made for Roy WIlliams though. Roy is barely even good enough to be a #2 WR at this point. I think they should feed Witten the ball some more than they have this season though and get Choice and Jones more involved in the passing game though on all sorts of hitches and screens. They're doing that, but not nearly enough. Personally I've never bought into the idea that Garrett can't coach the offense well. He was regarded as one of the best OC's in the league just one season before. I think that was a really poor cop out last season from many Cowboys fans that didn't want to look at some of the real problems that affected their team. The O line of the Cowboys determines so much really. They played horribly last season after about the 5th or 6th week of the season. This year there was more consistency and the chemistry on offense was much better. Wade seemed to have a group of guys that weren't acting all volatile this season with all of the distractions. Wade can coach pretty well with players like that. He isn't a good HC when you have all of the knuckleheads and head cases though like they had before.

Miles has made all the difference because he's consistently been clutch. Can't depend on Roy.

Romo needs that guy besides Witten he can go to and that's been Austin.

They're peaking at the right time.

But it's a new year now..everybody is 0-0 in the playoffs and they'll all have to play their best ball to advance.

The game was definitely electrifying. You should have seen the line for the Championship T-shirt in the pro-shop. The official attendance was 100,621. The Cowboys really looked good, however the great concern I have is if the Eagles saved their energy for next week.

I plan to make the trip, BUT, upon seeing the dismal weather forecast it's a bit unsettling thinking about if a trip up north is a safe idea. Hopefully if the weather turns out as predicted, it will just be cold and sunny instead of sleet, ice and snow.

I will admit that I was slow to come on board about replacing TO with Williams, and still am, but on the otherhand, Miles Austin seems to have been the diamond in the rough.

That what I like. I think he has improved the D. They just seem to bring their A game with him taking over. Even Austin has been gold this season improved D play has to makeup for not having that superstar WR TO was/is JMO.

Gary..the Cowboys got rid of the poison in their locker room and that's made all the difference I think. Sometimes one doesn't have to be vocal in the media to be a disruptive force in the locker room and they got rid of all those guys.

Wade is a very good DC..I'm on the fence about abilities as a head coach still.

They still have to prove it in the playoffs. Everybody's 0-0..Andy Reid is a very good coach...and the Eagles are an excellent football club. I suspect they will bring their A+ game next Saturday and the Cowboys will have to play as well as they did yesterday if not better.

I think this is a real interesting playoff season coming up. I was one that had penciled the Saints and Colts in the SB with no problems...hmmm...I'm not so sure anymore about that.

I agree about TO but I have just been impreesed with the play of the D as of late. Austin works his ass off and I think he has a career in the NFL for years to come.

Austin is maybe a 4th year player I think..hard to believe that guy has been riding the pine all these years and he had that great ability. He's really stepped it up this year but it's a continual process in the NFL...will be interested to see how he does next year with a starting job for the whole season. He's a fun player to watch.

Their defense has played very well lately. You're right. They have a stud DT in Ratliff. He clogs up that middle and makes it easy for the others to get the sacks and stops.

TO had a good game yesterday from the highlight reel I saw. I am just guessing that if a real hard nosed coach comes in there to Buffalo he'll be done there. I say that because I heard Cowher was interested in that job...that'd be an interesting combo..Bill Cowher and Terrell Owens. I am thinking Bill Cowher would chew TO up and spit him out. :)

Don't be shocked to see TO try and go to a contender knowing he only has a few years left to play in the NFL.

I am not sure his current contract situation with the Bills...but yea I agree with you. He'll want to still play somewhere. If that's possible I just don't know. I think he's 35 or so.

I still think he has a chance to go a winning team but the problem with him is being content with the fact that he won't be the star anymore so he'll be out of the lime light. That has been a problem of his forever and probaly will continue to be. Too much wanting to be in the spotlight through out his career and ME minded. Shutup and play and you just might get a ring dude but not him and it's a damn shame too because he has/had a boatload of talented but he is an asshat bottom line. Nice chat rep for you on the way.

Thanks Gary..I've enjoyed the conversation as well.

I find it hard to believe all the years he's played that he hasn't gotten a ring. I don't care for his personality but he sure had his years of excellence.

I wonder if Terrell is a Hall of Famer? I never thought about that....

Thank you too. I think he'll make the HOF stat wise.

Won't that be something?

Yea Gary it would be...Terrell has burned some bridges. I don't know that he has any friends in any GM or ownership position..perhaps a player would do his speech.

I think he's probably HOF too.

Until the Cowboys overcome their playoff curse, I'm picking the Eagles to win the rematch. Although the Eagles didn't completely mail-in the game, like the Cardinals and Bengals, they played some vanilla defense. Hardly blitzed at all in the game.

I'll stick with the Boys.

So glad you Cowboy fans have had such a nice CHAT on a TEXANS MB!

I wonder what Hookum would do if he had a few Titan fans using his board for a lovefest!:zipit:

Sorry!! The Texans are done for the year, as well as the Titans. I have no one else to pick on!

GO EAGLES!!!!!!!
