It's going to be OK, get off the ledge

Right now the team is 5-5 3rd in the division. That sucks. 2 games back to back that shoulf have been wins and really only one game this season were the Texans completely blown out. People blame coaching, kicking, running, tackleing etc... Its a young team that still has a bit more growing up to do. The end is not quite here yet. They are 1 game out of getting a spot for the play offs.

AFC East:
Patriots 7-3
Miami 5-5

AFC North:
Bangels 7-3
Steelers 6-4
Ravens 5-5

AFC West:
Chargers 7-3
Broncos 6-4

AFC South
Colts 10 -0
Jags 6-4
Texans 5-5

Looking at this its not so bad. Alot of teams this time of year will lose some games that they should win.
The rest of the schdule is not easy but it is doable.
Colts game is very winnable at home.
Jags game in Jacksonville will be a tough, but winnable game
Seahawks game is a one that is very easily a trap game but doable
Miami game in Miami will be a big test.
Patriots game hopefully will be balls out and playing for a play off spot. If they lose 2 more games then its probably a good idea to start looking at your mock drafts and wondering if Cowher really wants to come here. Untill then enjoy this crazy ride we call the Heartattack Texans.
 
I acknowledge that it's possible, but it's not probable. I'll hope for the best and hope that the team finds a way to put it together and run the table, because that's what they're going to need to do for a wild card.

I've been watching the Texans almost since the beginning and have suffered through a lot of losses. For perspective, I'm certainly not a season ticket holder or a fan who's seen every game, but I can't remember a loss hurting more than it did this last Monday night.

This is the first of our eight seasons in which we've been competitive - all close losses and some quality wins. It's a bitter pill to swallow when you know you had a real shot.
 
These tight games that should've/could've/would've just goes to show how close of a margin it can be between winners and losers in the NFL. The Colts have had several games like this but have come out on the winning end each time. It's what winners do.

It's frustrating to be oh-so-close but yet so far away.

Kubiak did not have the team ready to play the Jets in the season opener, but in ther 4 other games we lost or failed to take into OT at the end, I find it difficult to assign blame to Kubiak.

You can definately assign blame to the HC when his team fails to win 4 close games.

Obvs running the ball i stress this to mUCH but SLaton & Moats no brown plzzz we need both of them to play like this is the last game of the season

Should we keep Cushing on Clark again ????? i know thats a bad matchup not at bas has u think but having him do that really hellps us shut down there 3 WR sets IMO

copout. kubiak has his moments of dumb clock management and the like, but i still can't fathom how anyone thinks kubiak is the reason we lost 4 close games. jaguars? chris brown. cardinals? matt schaub. colts? kris brown. titans? the entire offense.

a lot of people here are just repeating the same thing - losing close games is the sign of poor coaching. sure, sometimes. missed assigments, fumbles, and interceptions also lose close games. **** happens.

So you think the coaching decisions in those games did not have a factor in the outcome? Deciding to have Chris Brown get the majority of carries in a game when he's clearly not our most productive RB isn't a decision that contributed to the loss last week for example? The Colts Jim Caldwell doesn't deserve any credit for winning the close games that a Gary Kubiak coached Texans ends up losing?

Its not absolute, clearly there is a problem in personnel not executing (see the Chris/Kris Browns). But when we lose 4 games that come down to the wire, I would definitely say the HC deserves a large share of the blame for why we lost.
 
I agree with this post...we still have a shot...I have been a fan since the beggining and this is the best shot we have ever had to be in the wild card...we have seen to many losses in the past years and i am not gonna give up on the season yet. Lets hope for a loss for the jags!!! and broncos!!! and baltimore!!!

This loss definitely hurts. I am a season ticket holder and people were leaving the stadium stunned. Which is a shame, because it was a total festive, upbeat atmosphere before the game.

Someone needs to call a players only meeting and rally the troops.

Think about what Kubiak is going through. 2 fumbles and 2 missed kicks have probably cost him his job and about 20 million dollars. That would drive me absolutely crazy.

Kubiak cannot out-coach his opposing team's coach.

We have enough talent. At some point, enough is enough. Do we have to have Pro Bowl caliber players at every freaking position before it can be a coaching deficiency?

We script our plays, and have no ability to adjust within the game itself. I think this is the first season I have seen halftime adjustments.

Maybe in-game adjustments will happen next season?

This team moves at a glacial pace, folks. And I think that's a reflection of Bob McNair's style of leadership and attitude. Sometimes that's good, and sometimes it's not.

You're right. Kubiak only selects all of the players, and coaches them. He bears no responsibility for how they actually play.

The players? Get rid of them.

Kubiak? He gets a do over. Cuz he's a good guy. And it's never his fault.

I was talking about 3 games, and unless Brown the running back had a history of fumbling because we know Brown the kicker was resigned after having a very good record the last couple years, Kubiak shouldn't be blamed for those unfortunate plays and you know what, I'm really not a big Kubiak fan.
He's made several real bone-head decisions on the sideline, but the kicker who missed those FGs preventing the Texans from going into OT was 100 % on 30-39 and 75% on 40-49 over the last couple years.

Don't forget how young we are as a team and a front office. Belichick wasn't always a winner. Him and Kubes have similiar coaching careers. I sure do like seeing Relaint Stadium right outside my hotel window. Can't wait for the game tomorrow...I mean later today.
 
People need to realize that we are not that far away from being a legit contender. A new head coach (Cowher) who has experience could make a HUGE difference in the outcome of games. So far, Kubiak has not been confident in his team going for the knockout kill when they are up against teams, and settles for the field goals. Against the Titans, the Texans' D made Vince look like the Rose Bowl Vince, running for first downs on 2nd and 8, or 3rd and 10. This season is just growing pains, because rarely do you make the playoffs without ever having a winning season first. It could be worse, it's not like they are cleveland or detroit.
