Uh yeah, that was real good game . . . 63-6

I don't know what was in the minds of the people who make out the schedules, but they were obviously warped by some really good crack.

What's next . . . Jerkwater Tech?

Delaware State. That is former 49er John Taylor's alum.

Yeah, that is crazy. I used to live in Delaware and D State is well below the level of Division 2 University of Delaware. That's almost playing Devry Institute.

BTW, there is a good reason why Michigan cannot play the University of Delaware.

If they did it would look like a scrimmage since both teams wear the exact same uniforms.

I heard yesterday that Delaware State got charged with 2 loses yesterday.
Apparently they had a different opponent scheduled yesterday and instead of playing that game played Michigan, so they had to forfeit that game also.

I haven't been able to find anything on this, can anyone tell me if this is true?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it

The Hornets lost to Michigan in Ann Arbor on Saturday, a game they agreed to play despite having a previously scheduled conference game the same day.

By rule, the Hornets were forced to forfeit their contest against fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe North Carolina A&T, giving them two losses in one day.

Wow. They must have really needed the money.

This game was scheduled during the season last year when DSU did not have an athletic director. They needed to find $650,000 to cover their athletic budget and UM offered them $550,000 for the game.

For Michigan, they drew the week 7 Big Ten bye week this year so they had to find an OOC game to fill this slot since the Big Ten uses its bye week at the end of the season. Unfortunately, most FBS teams are playing conference games during week 7 and cannot oblige. Michigan did get into contact with 1 FBS team about filling this slot, New Mexico (who is 0-6), but New Mexico already has a full 12 game slate and did not want to cancel. Therefore, UM had to resort to scheduling an FCS team.

For DSU, they wanted this game badly because they needed the money and after they weren't able to reschedule their week 7 conference game they decided to forfeit in favor of playing UM and getting that $550,000 (thus they were 1-3 before playing UM and 1-5 afterward). At the time the decision was made DSU did not have an athletic director so the administration made the decision. If they had an athletic director at the time they probably would have declined the offer, but they didn't and the administration obviously has no problem offering up their football team as a sacrificial lamb for the rest of the school.
