Texans rookie tight end Anthony Hill has tested positive for the H1N1 virus commonly known as swine flu, coach Gary Kubiak said Friday.

Hill, a fourth-round pick from North Carolina State, originally had been diagnosed with pneumonia. He spent the last two nights in the hospital and could be released as early as today.

"Anthony is doing much better," Kubiak said. "No other players are affected. We're taking every precaution to make sure it's an isloated incident. We're doing everything we've been told to do. There's no panic at all."

My kid had it last week. Mojo is right in that it is just another flu, and a weak one at that.

I can't see how they can be comfortable that no other players will be affected given the CDC view of the H1N1.

I guess they are trying to keep everyone calm so that the fans don't decide to stay home.

looks like he was out practicing with them while sick. I'd bet he had a fever then so others will likely catch this.

Rookie tight end James Casey knew that fellow rookie tight end Anthony Hill was ill after practice on Wednesday. He just didn't know how ill.

Hill, a fourth-round pick who grew up in Houston and played at North Carolina State, was originally diagnosed with pneumonia, but it turns out that he was suffering from swine flu.

Hill spent two nights in a hospital and was released Friday.

“I was shocked when I heard he had swine flu,” Casey said after practice Friday. “I knew he wasn't feeling well after practice Wednesday. It's one of those things you read and hear a lot about, but you never expect that it's going to affect someone you know, especially a guy whose locker is right next to mine.”

If he spent 1 night, let alone 2 nights in the hospital this guy was sick, real sick.
I've had the flu a couple times in my life, and each time I was very sick and stayed home from work (of course) and in bed but never went to the hospital. And was way beyond my 20s.
If you've had the bug you know what I'm talkin about ?
 
This whole H1N1 was way overblown as far as predictions for morbidity and mortality when first introduced. It was baselessly first put out there that mutation with resistance to treatment and increasing mortality would definitely occur. Despite no variance and no mutation, the government has painted themselves into a corner with their over reaction, and they have chosen to propogate the fear that they originally incited.

Just an FYI, the incubation period (from exposure, to time of disease showing up) can be anywhere from 1 to 7 days. We therefore have a whole week to really see if Hill may have passed it onto others.
 
It's highly contageous. They'll all be infected if they haven't already. But it was super mild when it passed through our house. It was tested h1n1 with 3 confirmations. (the rest of us weren't tested)

Worst symptoms were it put my dad out for a day. It made my son tired for a few days. Mom thought it was allergies, and my wife and I barely noticed.

H1N1 = this years hurricane. Kubiak probably gave it to the team on purpose to save his responsibility for the upcoming loss
