i'm bored, and this list kept me entertained for all of five minutes. your thoughts? who else do you think belongs on this list? who doesn't? why?
 
Lynn Swann is the worst HoF member ever. He got in based on a few plays.

I'm OK with John Riggins and Dave Casper being in. Riggins made those Redskins SB teams go when he was there. He was the perfect complement to a great OL. Casper was like a modern day TE, but in the '70s. Plus, he was an Oiler for a while!

I'd have to think about the rest. I think some of them are borderline guys that end up opening the door for other borderline guys, which just waters down the achievement.

I'd also add that, given the bias against defensive players, I'm generally OK with all of those selections.
 
George Blanda, what did he ever do except throw a bunch of INTs in his career and play untill he was like 80-years old.

I dislike Casper's behavior as an Oiler. Of course Ed Biles didn't help, Biles was a freaking joke. Casper came in and said he would not cut his hair because Biles can't make him do it. (different time, back when players respected their good fortune) So he didn't. Biles didn't do a thing about it either.

IMO, he disrespected the Oilers and any 8-year TE Doesn't belong unless he had something else going.....other than being a Raideroid. JMHO.

Well, he had something else going - productivity.

But I liked the hair incident. I had long hair back then, LOL. And I've always been rebellious. Imagine that.
 
Poor fact checking from a blogger who has never seen most of these players actually play. From the link posted above:

I don't know exactly where the blogger came up with his "facts" regarding Wehri's number of starts. Likely pro-football-reference.com. But, Roger Wehri was a starter for almost his entire career. Reserve CBs don't make All Pro. Also, Rayfield Wright was a RT for the Cowboys. At a time when many of the better DEs in the game (Deacon Jones, Carl Eller, Jack Youngblood, etc.) played on the defensive left side. This piece is just poorly done.
 
for Irvin to be #3 on this list is a disgrace. anyone who knows anything about football realizes how great of a WR and a football player Irvin was.

You should contact John McClain via his blog or by email..I know he's not a popular guy on these boards but he has been instrumental in getting some old Oiler greats noticed by these committees that nominate and such.

I think he is the one that gave the speech to have Warren Moon nominated and he did alot of work getting Bethea (I think it was him) in the HOF.
 
irregardless of his lifelong stats, Namath's name on here is a joke. his playing in SB III, and his charisma helped the league become what it is today.

some of these bloggers are just asinine.
 
Did he really just include John Madden as one of the worst HoF'ers of all time?

A guy who was the youngest coach to win 100 games, which took him just 10 seasons in the NFL, has the 2nd highest winning percentage in NFL history, has a winning record against other HoF coaches, and never had a losing record as a head coach.

He's not the all time greatest coach, but to say he's not deserving of being in the hall is pretty weak.

His speech was the best HOF speech I've ever heard.....at any HOF ceremony.

and yes.......that guy was a bonified HOFer, even Aikman and Emmitt admit he was the emotional glue and leader on those SB winning teams.

Without Lynn Swann and John Stallworth, the Steelers wouldn't have been a dynasty. They didn't have the huge numbers of WR's that were in pass-happy schemes or on teams that were behind a lot of the time. But they always made the big catch when the big catch needed to be made. Arguably the best tandem of WR's in the history of the game. HOF.

Joe Namath had a really good career. He was injured way too much. But he's not in the HOF on the strength of his career taken as a whole. He's in the HOF because of the importance of 1 game. Joe Namath is a great example talking the talk and then walking the walk. If that Jet team gets embarrassed, there's probably no merger and the Super Bowl devolves into a joke along the lines of the Super Bowl winner playing the winner of NFL Europe. HOF.

Dan Hampton? Voted to the All Decade team of the 80's. 80-something sacks mostly from the DT position. Foundation of one of the greatest defenses of all time. I'm fine with that selection. DT's don't get enough love.

Not to mention his contributions to the NFL outside of the coaching realm.

This blogger just jumped from "a little off" to complete moron with that one.

no doubt, man. he was the heart and soul of that team. personal problems aside, he was one of the best football players I have ever seen.

dude was The Playmaker for a reason
