For the love of God can anyone please make a stop on third down

Texans Rising
Michael - San Antonio, TX, US: Coach, I have been frustrated with the lack of success getting third down stops. I have even prayed "For the love of God can someone anyone make a stop on third down?' What will be the keys to consistantly making stops on third down(or 4th and 8)?
Defensive coordinator Frank Bush: ....We want our secondary to be more aggressive in coverage and get closer to the receivers, whether that's in man or zone. With Antonio and Mario on the defensive line, along with Amobi and the defensive tackles, we want to be more aggressive up front and pressure the quarterback.....

I went back and found this from before the season had begun. It is something I have been screaming at the TV for years. Unfortuneatly I witnesed that these adjustments have not been made. It has long been a theory of mine that third down stops have been the achilless heel for our team (and not the qb play). I feel that if we can get the opposing team off the field on third down at a 3/5 ratio the Texans will win the game. If that ratio is reversed we loose. I hope the Texans can improve on this next week or it is going to be a long season.

After the game yesterday I am more convinced that 3rd down is the achilles heel of the team. First CJ TD was on third down , third CJ TD was on third down.. this is getting ridiculous.

When the Texans were able to make stops they scored and got back into the game.

Third down is the key to our sucess...or lack thereof.

It wasn't just 3rd down......it was 3rd and 19 :gun:

Look at the bright side: the Giants have given up a couple more 20+ yd. runs than we have, so we're tied for 30th in that category. :)
