Does anybody think we can beat the Titans next week?

Look they sucked today, no doubt, and criticism is warranted, but don't be so hateful. There are some around here that sound like Philly fans.

I know I'll get some neative reps sent my way, but I will say that the fans performed as shitty as the team today. It sounds silly but we can't even fill the staidum with more than 10 people wearing white. You think in Pittsburgh they were flipping blue, and green, and orange, or they get quite when the going gets rough. They're loud when they need to be and get in the game.

As a fan we can't get the players to do what they need to do, but at least get in the game, I think that fingers can be pointed back at ourselves. A new Head Coach, a new QB, a new GM, a new Center, won't make better fans, only better fair weather fans.

Shut the hell up. The stadium was packed with the vast majority wearing white and the fans were excited. This team laid a turd sandwich the taste of which is still with me. I booed my head off at that horrid display. The fans have every right to be tear this team to shreds.

I absolutely agree with you TF!! This was one of the better "color" days we have ever had. Some folks don't have a white jersey, and can't afford one. BUT, wearing TEXAN colors is what it's all about anyway. It's the suit crowd that wears pastels that tick me off. They can affored a jersey in every friggin color!!

I have never booed my team, and never will. BUT, they sure gave us reason to today! It's just not my style. I just wonder how many of our players really care that they sent 70,000 fans home disappointed and sad. They played like thay didn't give a crap! Give us a reason to yell, and you bet your happy butt we'll make the place rock!! JMO

2) the reason we got slaughtered by the Jets and others is that we are unfamiliar with what they do.

a) some teams have coaches who are responsible for this knowledge.
b) the Jets were equally unfamiliar with us.

Um, go watch some old Fisher game film....they will blitz guys who aren't big Ben. Once he sees this game film you can bet he will blitz everyone except VY.

Tennesse lost both their interior D anchor AND their D coordinator. They didn't blitz big Ben, even when it was obvious they weren't getting pressure. Fisher is a good coach, but so far everything Ive seen from this Titans D during this season says they aren't going to alter their gameplan if they don't feel they can handle it. We'll see on Sunday

They sacked Ben 4 times, hit him 14 and caused 3 turnovers. I don't call that a bad day for a defense, especially on the road against the defending super bowl champs.

And they did blitz, the problem was that they stopped.

Yeah, I don't know what game gtexan02 watched, but the Titans did more blitzing than I've ever seen them do under Schwartz. They ran fast and hit even harder. We've got to be smoking some good **** as fans to believe that the Texans have a chance in hell of beating a physical, well-coached team like the Titans on the road this Sunday. It ain't gone happen people.

As inconsistant as this team is, who the f--- knows what will happen? Being that it's on the road against another good defense, a person would be crazy to think we're going to win. Is it possible? Yes. Is it plausible? Hell no

are you just watching the end of that game? They sent blitzes from multiple angles early. I expect them to play gap control and blitz like crazy this week. The book on Schaub isn't to let him get comfy and find a wr.

Does anybody think we can beat the Titans next week?

Not even if Steve McNair is the QB.

Alright, it's Monday. Time for irrational exuberance.

Not only are we going to beat the Flaming Meatballs, we're going to embarrass them! We're going to make their mommas hang their heads in collective shame.

:fans:

Hey... it could happen...

Don't crush my dreams...

Chris Johnson is going to rip a 78 yard run on the first play of the game as a followup to this piece of crap outing we called a football game.

in the tv broadcast I'm watching, Phil Simms says of the NFL..."don't over judge one weeks performance".

Phil...not many in this forum listened to those wise words.

I'm shocked at the performance Sunday. They just seem so slow on both sides of the ball. Where is the pop on defense? They need to get ticked off and hit like they mean it, finish tackles.

I know this team has heart, hopefully they will use this loss as "tacklin fuel" and kick the crap out of the Titans, but I must admit I have my doubts.

I don't think this statement applies to the Texans, because this wasn't just one performance. It has happened repeatedly with the Texans. This type of performance was specifically discussed during the offseason as something that had to be fixed because it is ingrained in the team's identity.

A more singular occurence would have been if the Texans had shown up on opening day ready to play and be competitive. We've been shown nothing new,;no aberration.

I might be in the extreme minority on this one, but I think we're gonna see a better prepared team and a much better effort next week. Sometimes you need to get caught with your pants down to learn a lesson. We're very familiar with the Titans and obviously we have everything to play for. For the first time in a while I go into this game more concerned about our offense than our defense containing those two runningbacks in Tennessee.

I can't believe how many pantywaisted ninnies are on this board. IT'S ONE FREAKING GAME. You people act like the team can't make adjustments in practice. If you don't think we can win, then sell you Texans tickets to someone who actually SUPPORTS the team and go join a Dallas fanboard where you're whining will be appreciated.

We will be playing a team that needs a win at home after eleven days of rest. Moreover, they have a team and coach that know how to bounce back when they are backed in a corner. Yeah, we could win, and I bet the money line on the Titans will be insane.

Next week's game is now the most important game in the Kubiak regime, only to be superceded by each following game. Welcome to KubiakWatch 2009.

Every game is very winnable from here on to the Indy game before our bye week 10. Wouldn't be surprised to see a big run here.

Nationally, the bloom fell off of Kubiak's rose bush last night. I see much of the media turning on him, especially the guys who put their credibility on the line by pimping the Texans as the new up and coming team. I think we are officially at a crossroads.

Wow, just wow. A lot of people on this board have thousands of dollars invested in this team, if they want to vent and complain because it doesn't seem like this team is going to be any better this season after the limited sample we have seen in pre-season and one regular home game (which the team looked atrocious and soft) then they can damn well complain if they want to.

You should learn to DEAL WITH IT, OR STAY OFF THE FREAKIN MESSAGE BOARD!!!!

Amen brutha.

None of these guys have credibility. They pimped the Cardinals for a decade before they did anything. A few years ago they were pimping the Rams as Super Bowl favorites right as they fell off and went to crap.

You know I'd say it's just one game. The problem is the Texans as a team didn't show up to play. Technically I'd almost say if they show up next week then we'll have played one game.

It wouldn't surprise me. The Jets were solid last year without Rex Ryan's defensive genius. Now they're just scary.

Yeah, some of these guys are forgetting the Jets are the ones that went into Nashville last season and knocked the snot out of the Toilers. IIRC they handed the Titans their first loss last year.

Matters not, the Rams and Lions would've whooped our ass yesterday.

I am not arguing that. However painting a picture that the Texans can not beat the mighty Titans because they lost to the lowly Jets is off base. The Jets kicked the crap out of the Titans last season in Nashville.

I see your point and I agree the Jets are way legit, but they were an awful looking team from then on after the Titans game. The Jets are not a perfect team and could've been had yesterday, we all saw their gameplan from a mile away. A coach with half a brain shoulda known what was coming and we stubbornly stuck to our guns and thought going through the motions would put points on the board. I still think we could still beat that team, maybe in the playoffs this year, but we have to help ourselves and I'm not so sure our staff is ready or will ever be ready to do that.

i think we can win or lose any game from here on out thats what a 8-8 team does it has its ups and downs

Some days the High power O and Stiff D texans shows up

some days the same ol texans show up

I'm saying the Texans are going to win . Why ... cause I've drawn a line in the sand and believe that it's do or die for a fast start to make the playoffs .:polevault:

I wouldn't say that the Titans is a "must-win" game.

I'd say it's a "must coach well" game.

:hides:

Do I think we can beat the Titans next week in Tennessee??

Sure... Because even the sun shines on a dogs a$$ some days. :worm:

I hope the o-line comes out p!ssed off and knocks the crap outta the Titans. They should know that this game was an embarrassment and if they don't come out angry, the critics are right.

FWIW, this is what Eric Winston said on Twitter about it:

I'm about as disappointed as you can imagine. I'm sorry to all the fans that had to sit thru that. Stay with us! We will get it right!

I'm probably in the minority too - Texans are generally inconsistent with weak and strong games - There's still a chance that we could be 1-1 after next week

I saw that. And I wrote to him and Duane Brown on twitter, asking how they're going to come out and respond to being called "soft".

Any response? You can't DM them right unless they follow you, so it's just a reply tweet? I am still trying to get the hang of the whole thing.

For whatever reason Favre always seems to kick our ass.
How is converting Texans to Txeans funny? You yankees have some strange sense of humour.
Can't remember if it was your fans or cheerleaders who spelled it that way at your first game. We're just carrying on the tradition :D

Silver Oak, you're not paying for us. We donated $1000 in less than six months.

By the way, I did fix the spelling 'problem'. Fun for a minute but a pain in the ass long term.

yes, it was the Flags guys

We can win, I don't think we will. I think we play alot better than we did this week though.

You know what, after thinking about this, if they actually did beat the Tacks on Sunday, after what they did last week, I'd find that a lot more disturbing. I dang sure won't be doing cartwheels, I know that much.

It's one thing to have a bad team that just loses all the time, but it's a lot more irritating to be in a situation where you don't know which team is going to show up.

Maybe it's just me, and the bad taste I can't get out of my mouth.
