on NFL.com i guess one of there writers Michael Lombardi called us Soft ...i really cant counter that intill we prove otherwise :texflag:

Everyone seemed to be captivated by the Texans this past offseason. Playoffs were forecast in large part because of their explosive offense and also how strongly they finished last season, winning five of their last six games. As was the case last year, Houston opened the season on Sunday, laying a huge egg -- at home, no less.

The Texans have been bad on the road under Gary Kubiak, going just 2-6 away from home in each of the last three seasons. At home, however, thay have been strong, going 16-8 in Kubiak's Houston tenure. Yet against the Jets on Sunday, the home crowd witnessed what so many in the NFL think about the Texans -- they are soft.

Whenever they play a physical team they tend to wilt, and wilt they did all game against the Jets. The Texans must find a way to be more physical because this week they face a very physical team in the Tennessee Titans -- on the road. Ouch!

When Lombardi stated that we are soft during the offseason, there was a major uproar on this board. Just saying.

Three things that teams/players hate to be called

1.Soft
2.Unprepared
3.Selfish

The Texans seemed to have a the market covered on all three of these things.
 
I think this is what P'ed me off sooo much about this game. They looked soft. You look back at last season and how they beat Green Bay in Green Bay, Tenn who has a great defense and running game when they needed to win homefield advantage, and even beating a team like the Bears who needed to win to go to the playoffs.

WHERE WAS THAT FREAKING TEAM ON SUNDAY?????!!!!!!
 
Above all, even though this is being said publicly we aint hearing any rebuttle from the team about this.
 
It's one thing to get beat - bad - by a team that shouldn't be that much better than us. It's one game. But the way Kubiak responded during the presser yesterday scared me. If a coach can't look past a bad pasting like that and get ready for the next week, it's not going to get any better.

Head up, coach, and get your kids ready to play properly this time.

hey coach! how about getting some MEN on the field this week!

play to the edge of "dirty" for a few games.

get some personal fouls from aggressive play and punch back!

hell, you never know what "too aggressive" is until you get called on it!
blow some people up and keep score by how many good clean aggressive and exploding hits you can put on them.
how many "pancake" blocks we get.
how about some oooohs and aaaaaahs in the post-game film room from hits.

keep a score on how many time outs for injuries from clean hits......ANYTHING!

my old coach used to say, "we might not win on the scoreboard, but will damn sure win the hitting war!"

we kept score with a body count.

If you go to Mike Singletary's presser, you'll see how a TRUE coach gets his team up to play. I'd argue that we have more talent, on BOTH sides of the ball, than
the Niners do. However, just watching the man's PRESSERS, he inspires me
to go punch somebody in the mouth.

I pray for the day, when we get the proper collection of talent, with a fire
lit under their ass. Our team got lazy off of their talent, and the gap between
the most talented and the least is THIN!! Motivating players to remain FOCUSED
and COMMITTED to the DESTRUCTION of their opponents, is what I, as a
DIEHARD, want to see in Reliant Stadium. Kubiak looked like his momma was
gonna make him pick a switch for his upcoming asswhoopin.

As Demeco said, "Be accountable, or get out of our huddle."
 
Some of it may have been over confidence & some players just out of shape like Dunta. The poor tackling continues and I put that on coaches. The entire organization seems out of sync. I am not sure if Titans will give them a chance to get it together or knock Texans further off course.

the poor tackeling is league wide from the db's.

save a few, nobody sticks a helmet in and wraps up. the goal is to pick them up and pile drive them in the ground. not run in and throw a shoulder hoping to un-end the runner.

i want aggressive penalties please. just show us you are willing to go over the line with aggressiveness.

or take up golf. a non-contact sport!

Not only did Gary Kubiak's team lose its home opener at Reliant Stadium, where it was 16-8 the past three seasons, but also it lost to a Jets team starting a rookie quarterback and playing without two defensive cogs due to suspension (linebacker Calvin Pace and defensive end Shaun Ellis).

In just four quarters, the Texans managed to only accentuate the perception that they're a mentally soft team that tends to play its worst when the stakes are the highest. Once the pressure's off, Houston usually takes off, rallying to finish strong after first digging itself a sizable hole. Don't look now, but with a road game at division rival Tennessee looming this week, another slow start appears likely in Houston. Somebody's going to be 0-2 after this one, and I don't think it's going to be Jeff Fisher's Titans.

The 9ers win and Singletary dresses down the Oline for not playing well. 610am was playing a clip of him all morning yesterday saying that (paraphrasing) 'how do we go about our business? we punch them in the mouth'. Watch Kubiak's presser and he sounds like Schleprock from the Flintstone's kids show. Anyone notice that it didn't rain too much anywhere except over Reliant on Sunday? The Schleprock factor.

There was one tackle made by Demeco and I don't even remember what quarter but he stuck it to a running back and I almost had an orgasm. I could use more of both.
