Drum Roll please.....

And with the 224th pick and to conclude the 2009 Texans Talk Member Mock Draft,
the Pittsburgh Steelers make Michael Mitchell, Safety from Ohio the newest Mr. Irrelevant.

We've just made history on TTalk by completing our first full 7 round mock. After the draft, I'd like to see how many players we drafted were actually chosen and how many weren't.

SAINTS DRAFT:
14. Malcolm Jenkins, CB/FS
112. Gerald McRath, OLB
114. Zack Follett, OLB
205. Anthony Parker

Hard to work with only 4 picks.

PANTHERS DRAFT:
59. Robert Ayers, DE
93. Nate Davis, QB
124. Brandon Gibson, WR
163. DeAndre Levy, SAM LB

No way Ayers falls this far. When I made these picks, I didn't realize the problems that Nate Davis and Brandon Gibson have.

VIKINGS DRAFT:
22. Vontae Davis, CB
54. Juaquin Iglesias, WR
86. Dorell Scott, DT
158. Augustus Parrish, OT
204. Jose Valdez, OT
214. Michael Bennett, DE

I can not believe I was able to make all my picks with being out of town and all.

San Francisco 49ers Selections:

10. Everette Brown, DE/OLB, Florida State
43. Jamon Meredith, OT, South Carolina
74. Mike Mickens CB, Cincinnati
107. Rhett Bomar, QB, Sam Houston State
138. Darryl Richard, DT, Georgia Tech
171. Robert Brewster, OT, Ball State
203. Glen Coffee, RB, Alabama

Do I have a real F'n crappy draft or something? I can only recall Coffee getting any love. If I have messed up let me know I am very curious to see what people think of my selections cause of the amount of research on the first four rounds and luck in the 7th.

Woohoo! Way to go guys. Yall really know yalls prospects now.

Any big names go undrafted?

Ill name a few I notice.

Chris Ogbonnaya, HB, Texas (Dual Threat RB.)
John Parker Wilson, QB, Alabama
Tim Jamison, DE, Michigan
Victor Butler, DE/OLB, Oregon State (Had 12 sacks this year)
Ellis Lankster, CB, West Virginia

You did a good job. The only player I dont like is Mickens. But other than that good draft man. And yes, Coffee in the 7th is great value.

Should we start a different thread or use this same one and have each team's selections (as some you see above). Then after the draft we can put the # of the pick they were actually selected. That'd be interesting!

Obviously, I like the E Brown pick in the first. I like him more as a 4-3 end than a 3-4 OLB (opposite of most) but I know he is a game changing type of player so I love the pick.

I don't know anything about Meredith.

I like Mickens at 74. Two solid defensive players at this point.

I haven't seen Bomar play since Oklahoma, just highlights and all-star kind of game action. I like the idea if it works out, but I can't really comment on the specific player.

I think Richard is a good player, but I think you reached on him. I like Vance Walker more, but I still think Richard is a good player. Maybe reached on him IMO.

Don't know anything about Brewster.

Great pick with Coffee, excellent value.

New thread for that.

I saw this one coming.

I was gonna call it but didn't want to jinx it.

Why not take a shot on him in the 7th? Good pick.

LOL, yea. Sounds like he's more of a strong safety but on the Steelers there's no rush in getting him in. Has tremendous athletecism so it's worth it and let him learn behind Palomalu.

Actually, as GM, I knew we would be trading Troy to the Texans in a couple years, just when Mitchell is ready to take over and become a star.

Houston Texans Mock:
#15 OLB Brian Cushing - I would have traded down, but still IMO a good sam LB prospect
#46 FS Louis Delmas - Love this guys tenacity, best safety in the draft @46
#77 DE Lawrence Sidbury - Pass rushing specialist
#108 DT Terrence Taylor - a bit of a reach for need I'll admit
#118 CB Kevin Barnes - Good value I think. Just needs to stay healthy
#144 RB Javon Ringer - What a 3rd string rb.
#175 OG Greg Isander - Nice depth for our Oline
#206 SS Chris Clemons - SS that can cover and will excel in special teams.

Good draft Shaft. Tough being the hometown GM. Good to keep in mind we started this so long ago too!

Handpicking after the draft, I wouldn't be upset with this:
1. Jeremy Maclin- Not going to be a popular pick with yall but I think he's BPA and would see the field a lot as a 3rd WR and as our PR.
2. Robert Ayers- too good to pass up. Alternate with Smith and would replace him on passing downs when smith bumps inside
3. Rashad Jennings- Big powerful RB to pair with slaton
4. Sherrod Martin- versatile DB to play CB/FS
4. Bradley Fletcher- tall CB to groom.
5. Nic Harris- OLB/S tweener, I think we'd have him as WLB depth
6. Greg Isdander- gotta get some OL depth
7. Michael Mitchell- athletic SS to be a part of the mix. Clemons was a good pick too though.

So we get a WR/PR, OG and RB on offense.
Get a complete DE, WLB, and 3 DB's for the defense.

Steelers draft:
1. Duke Robinson OG
2. Jarron Gilbert DE
3. Gerald Cadogan OT
4. Mike Parson CB
5. Mike Wallas WR/PR
6. Domonique Johnson CB
7. Michael Mitchell SS

Bears picks:
1. Mark Sanchez---Traded to Denver
2. Percy Harvin
3. David Bruton S. Notre Dame---Traded to Denver
4.Jason Watkins OT Florida
5.David Veikune DE Hawaii
6. Joel Bell OT Furman

Cards picks
1. Larry English
2. William Moore
3. Shonn Greene
my picks
4. Jason Williams OLB Western Illinois
5. Gartrell Johnson RB Colorado State
6. K.J.Gerard CB/S Northern Arizona
7.Jared Bronson TE Central Washington

Now, can we do a mock training camp and a mock preseason to see where our team stands? Mock it up! or Mock em all!

Falcons draft:
1st Round: Clay Matthews, OLB, USC
2nd Round: Patrick Chung, SS, Oregon
3rd Round: Keenan Lewis, CB, Oregon State
4th Round: Chris Baker, DT, Hampton
5th Round: Bear Pascoe, TE, Fresno State
5th Round: Tyronne Greene, OG, Auburn
6th Round: Brandon Williams, DE, Texas Tech

A toast to everyone who participated and thanks Super Mario and JC Texan for running it .

Pretty much everyone's draft looks good to me.

Bills picks:

1st Round: WR Michael Crabtree
2nd Round: OL Max Unger
3rd Round: LB Marcus Freeman
4th Round: TE Cornelius Ingram
5th Round: DE Matt Shaughnessy
6th Round: DT Vance Walker
7th Round: DT Marlon Favorite

As far as I'm concerned....most excellent effort. I love Mathews and Orakpo. But a draft like this I could live with. Hit all of the needs.....Sidbury rotating with Antonio Smith would push our sack total way past 25. Couple of years from now....if he can stand up....he could develop into the best defender on the team. Yes and that includes Mario. It's a gamble for sure. But we're not going to win anything playing it safe with every pick. Gotta gamble you hit special talent on the day two guys if we're going to the super bowl and win it.

3rd Round: Keenan Lewis, CB, Oregon State
4th Round: Chris Baker, DT, Hampton
5th Round: Bear Pascoe, TE, Fresno State

I would be happy for this draft for the Texans too. But Chung is no longer with the team now after the Gonzalez trade

That's a good draft. But I think it changes with the pick-up of Peters.

Hey guys, what happened to the first mock draft we did? Is that archived somewhere or did it got deleted?

I'd love to compare our picks from that mock, this mock and the real draft!

Drum Roll please.....

the Pittsburgh Steelers make Michael Mitchell, Safety from Ohio the newest Mr. Irrelevant.

Haha. You just got the Raiders 2nd round #47 draft pick with the Mr. Irrelevant pick. He was not irrelevant today! He was all over the news, but not in a good way.

Well, the draft is over now. Note: I would have taken Jerry ahead of Matthews if he was still available in the mock.

Here's Atlanta's draft:

Round 1, Pick 24 - Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss
Round 2, Pick 55 - William Moore, S, Missouri
Round 3, Pick 90 - Christopher Owens, CB, San Jose State
Round 4, Pick 125 - Lawrence Sidbury Jr., DE, Richmond
Round 5, Pick 138 - William Middleton, CB, Furman
Round 5, Pick 156 - Garrett Reynolds, OT, North Carolina
Round 6, Pick 176 - Spencer Adkins, LB, Miami
Round 7, Pick 210 - Vance Walker, DT, Georgia Tech

Where the guys I picked were selected:

Clay Matthews - 1st Round, Pick #26 to GB
Patrick Chung - 2nd Round, Pick #34 to NE
Keenan Lewis - 3rd Round, Pick #96 to Pit
Chris Baker - (undrafted)
Bear Pascoe - 6th Round, Pick #186 to SF
Tyronne Green - 4th Round, Pick #133 to SD
Brandon Williams - 4th Round, Pick #120 to Dal

Steelers draft:
1-32 Duke Robinson OG- 5th round, #163 overall
2-64 Jarron Gilbert DE- 3rd round, #68 overall
3-96 Gerald Cadogan OT- Undrafted
4-128 Mike Parson CB- Undrafted
5-160 Mike Wallace WR/PR- 3rd round, #84 overall
6-192 Domonique Johnson CB- Undrafted
7-209 Ryan Purvis TE- Undrafted
7-224 Michael Mitchell SS- 2nd round, #47 overall

*I didn't like the Duke Robinson pick when I made it and don't like it now. I should have went Eric Wood which I was really close to doing.
*Gilbert is about an even pick
*Cadogan, Parson, Johnson went undrafted... ouch
*Purvis went undrafted but heck it's a 7th rounder
*Wallas was good value
*Michael Mitchell...steal of the Draft!! Raiders are silly

If anyone cares, out of the 224 picks we made, 61 were not drafted. (3 are mine) If my math is right we had 73% of our picks drafted. I don't think that's too bad for a bunch of fans.
