Draft Tek 7 Round Consensus Mock--In Depth With New Features

Dallas Frog
This one has value or reach and some other tools. I like the set up and it is pretty in depth.

13 - Consensus Mock Draft Revision #36
Neither our Detroit or Seattle Team Correspondents are biting on rumors that they'll jump on QB Matt Stafford with the #1 or #4 respectively. And since we've got USC QB Mark Sanchez shipping out to Jacksonville with the #8 overall, we're not showing another interested party in Stafford until the NYJets at #17. In reality, should Stafford slip past JAX, we suspect that there will be a trade which will allow Stafford to be selected from #10-#12.

No offense to Frog, but rounds 1 and 3 are horrible picks for the Texans. We're not taking a WR in Rd1. Herman Johnson doesn't even come close to fitting what we do along the Oline. The remaining picks look decent, I guess.

Stopped reading once they stated we would take Jeremy Maclin in the 1st.

It's actually fun to look at though. I haven't toured the site but I believe they get all the mocks and rumors together, try and some how make it scientific and then spit it out as for where guys are trending, etc. I agree Maclin isn't where they will go...though a guy like him for PR/KR/WR is nice...but it shows the trend and where the value is. I just wanted to get another viewpoint posted when I saw this today.

Never offended by your comments Hou-Tex.....most of the time :)

Drafttek is a computer simulation model that takes the draft the entire 7 rounds (including compensatory picks). Each team has a correspondent that provides input information in the form of priority codes on a per position basis and our "Big Board" is a compilation of player ratings taken from NFL Draft Scout, ESPN, Scout.com, National Football Post, Pro Football Weekly, and others.

like Maclin pick. not sure Sean is still there in 2nd, think the Texans hit on DE position, along the lines of "Freddy" Kruger (well at least they got the school correct- Utah) & if they go guard in 3rd it will be for a zone blocking fit see Andy Levitre, OSU. Another Beaver in 4th Keenan Lewis, CB is really good & alot of people here like RB Javon Ringer. thats 5 players who could start or make an impact as rookies, real solid if you ask me, just have to tweek it out a little :texflag:

If they moved Walter draft day for an extra two, I'd be ok with the Maclin pick. But what is not in doubt....no way Herman "Big Baby" Johnson fits. That one is shear fan ignorance of what the Texans do. That would be a straight line to another franchise QB pick in 2010. Johnson doesn't fit.

I like the Ringer pick also. The profile doesn't fit what they say they want....a bigger back, but I beleive that platoon would be very nice for us. Cory Sheets would work along those lines....smaller back, catches very well, blocks well on max pass protection. Doesn't run heavy between the tackles though.

I like Quinn Johnson alot....nice pick for the cow polks.

They say Herman Johnson is pretty good at getting to the next level. He has also lost around 20 lbs. The more I read, the more I like. Maclin, not so much. I'd rather us take Alfonso Smith than Sean Smith at 46.
