1 DET Smith, Jason LOT Baylor 6050 309 5.20
Rebuilding the Lions is a marathon, not a sprint. 2010 draft is loaded with accurate quarterbacks.
2 STL Monroe, Eugene LOT Virginia 6052 309 5.25
Age and time are catching up to the tackles. Curry is talked about, as is Crabtree.
3 KC Curry, Aaron OB Wake Forest 6016 254 4.56
Only if he plays ROLB in Chiefs’ new 3-4 scheme. Think Adalius Thomas, James Harrison, Shawn Merriman, etc.
4 SEA Sanchez, Mark QB Southern Cal 6021 227 4.90
No corner warrants this high. If Smith or Monroe fall, they land here. Hasselbeck’s back isn’t getting any better.
5 CLE Jenkins, Malcolm DC/FS Ohio State 6001 204 4.51
Brian Cushing a possibility. Wells a consideration.
6 CIN Crabtree, Michael WR Texas Tech 6013 215 4.55
With Houshmandzadeh gone and Chad Johnson a dilemma, Palmer needs a target. Andre Smith and Beanie Wells are talked about.
7 OAK Orakpo, Brian OB/PR Texas 6030 263 4.65
Burgess is 31 and coming off a triceps injury. Maclin is possible if Orakpo is too slow for Mr. Davis.
8 JAX Smith, Andre OT Alabama 6040 334 5.34
Smith and Monroe are gone. Andre Smith is the pick if red flags are erased. Raji is talked about. FS later in draft.
9 GB Raji, B.J. DT Boston College 6014 337 5.13
Boom or bust. Weight, maturity, 3-4 nose tackle has talent. Scary pick. Cushing a possibility.
10 SF Brown, Everette OB/PR Florida State 6014 256 4.75
Needs a pass rusher. (Where’s Lawson, the workout warrior?) ROT and FS a possibility and that is if you’re satisfied at QB. Florida State scheme has fooled many teams. Stafford talked about.
11 BUF Pettigrew, Brandon TE Oklahoma State 6053 265 4.82
Defensive end is a need, but potential ten-year TE helps run game and stabilizes position.
12 DEN Laurinaitis, James IB Ohio State 6017 244 4.80 Defensive needs are plenty. Maualuga a consideration. Dawkins’ signing shores up secondary.
13 WAS Maualuga, Rey IB Southern Cal 6016 249 4.85
Haynesworth fills DT spot. Offensive tackles are discussed.
14 NO Davis, Vonte DC Illinois 5111 203 4.42
Wanted Malcolm Jenkins FS/DC combination. Settled for best athlete.
15 HOU Moreno, Knowshon RB Georgia 5105 217 4.55
Slaton and Moreno give the Texans a 1-2 punch at RB. An OLB will be taken later.
16 SD Jackson, Tyson DE LSU 6041 296 4.95
Fills DE need. ROG, ROT, IB will be selected later in draft.
17 NYJ Stafford, Matt QB Georgia 6022 225 4.84
It could happen if Stafford slides past Detroit, Seattle, San Francisco, Buffalo. Who thinks he is a franchise QB? Maclin could also be the pick.
18 CHI Maclin, Jeremy WR Missouri 6001 198 4.45
Will get offensive lineman later. Steal at #18. Orton needs a playmaker. Offensive line needs will be filled in the next couple of rounds.
19 TB Jerry, Peria DT Mississippi 6016 299 4.95
Trade up for Stafford and Maclin fail. Fills a need with a great effort player.
20 DET Cushing, Brian OB Southern Cal 6027 243 4.65
Fills linebacker need. Clay Matthews, Marcus Freeman, and Clint Sintim also talked about.
21 PHI Wells, Chris RB Ohio State 6010 235 4.55
Big back with good hands, good fit. Will the Eagles trade down?
22 MIN Britton, Eben ROT Arizona 6060 309 5.15
Ryan Cook and Marcus Johnson can’t get the job done at right tackle.
23 NE Smith, Alphonso DC Wake Forest 5090 193 4.50
Size doesn’t matter to Belichick. He wants football players.
24 ATL Vaughn, Chip SS Wake Forest 6013 221 4.48
Athletic sure tackler with good football intelligence. Moves to head of the class. Other top defensive players on Falcon board discussed.
25 MIA Unger, Max OG Oregon 6045 309 5.30
Will start at OG but can play OC or tackle as needed. Helps plug any weak spots in offensive line.
26 BAL Barwin, Connor OB Cincinnati 6035 256 4.60
Bart Scott is gone. Corners and receivers talked about, as well as other versatile linebackers.
27 IND Nicks, Hakeem WR North Carolina 6006 212 4.50
Great hands fill loss of Harrison. Defensive tackles also discussed.
28 PHI Oher, Michael OT Mississippi 6044 309 5.35
Signed Stacy Andrews. Still need another future tackle.
29 NYG Robiskie, Brian WR Ohio State 6027 209 4.48
Outstanding hands, size, and route runner fills major void.
30 TEN Harvin, Percy WR Florida 5111 192 4.41
Explosive playmaker for Kerry Collins. Defensive tackles also talked about.
31 ARZ Brown, Donald RB Connecticut 5102 210 4.46
Outside linebackers are discussed. Fellow Huskie alum, corner Darius Butler, is also in the discussion. Eric Wood may be too high cut to be considered at center.
32 PIT Mack, Alex OC California 6037 311 5.10
Too tough, too smart, to pass. Offensive line needs overhaul.

its a great situation actually there are bound to be teams who really want the top rated RB in this class. I seem to remember Mike Mayock saying he had "Knowshon Moreno rated as the 7th best overall prospect" for what its worth. my point would be an elite talent @ a position of need for several teams wanting his services & willing to pay Rick Smiths asking price to trade up. ideally maybe a team as far down as Arizona who have the 31st pick. looking @ the NFL Draft Value Chart the 15th pick is worth 1,050 points. 31st = 600 the difference being the price (450 points) thats their 1st + 2nd + 3rd + 4th (1041). just to give one example. but no thanks anyway I'll stick to :wesmantexanfan:

I did not even think about that. I just saw that Matt Stafford went at 17.

I'd be happy and excited to see that backfield. I wouldnt complain if LD and DB were taken in the next rounds.

I think Moreno is better but still best value for this team is hoping Jenkins falls to us or to take best Linebacker available.

I like Moreno, he is a football player. I hope he is not who we select as BPA as I would hope we are looking at BPA-D, but I certainly would not be hating on the selection, just a little miffed.

The only thing I really found interesting, was Seattle taking Mark Sanchez....... I thought Seneca Wallace did a fine job last year, proving that he could take over for Matt, at any time.

Seneca may not be their future, but QB is not such a weakness, that they need to address it this early in the draft, and the buzz on Sanchez isn't such that "you can't pass" him.

As far as the Texans drafting an "elite" RB, I'm all for it. Don't think it will happen, I'd just as soon sign Derrick Ward, or LT, and draft the best LB/CB at 15. Trade down if possible, get Wells + a LB/CB.

here is another trade down scenero for a team who needs a RB (remember San Diego is sitting there @ #16) Philadephia. The Eagles own two 1st rd. picks their own #28th (did the math - 2nd #53 {660+370=1030} Texans 1st #15 1040) & Carolinas #1 pick #21st. doubt they would trade away 2nd. also doubt Rick Smith would risk trading down that far & losing a specific targeted prospect. so the trade they agree on is in exchange for the 15th overall selection, thats assuming Ourlads is correct & Moreno is still on the board, the Texans would receive Philly's pick aquired from Carolina #21 + 3rd (165) + 4th (60) = 225. Remember the Texans pick #15 is worth 1040 vs. Philly (via Carolina) 21st = 800 a difference of 225. sorry for the long written explanation but I just wanted to be clear so y'all understood this trade down by Texans with a talent like Moreno on the board.

what the heck lets see how that changes things for the Texans & would you be in favor of such a deal? in essence the Texans would now have a total of a pick in every round (7) + 1 extra 3rd & 2 extra 4th (the other aquired from the Vikings for Sage). unless my math is off thats 10 draft picks :headhurts:

For kicks here is a sample what could be - :)

1st. RD. #21 Texans select - (via Phi./Car.) Darius Butler, CB Connecticut 5-11 183
my top rated cover corner in the draft, speed & athleic moves translate to the next level. would have to select him here as rumors fly that the Dolphins (#25) Ravens (#26) both are interested.
2nd. RD. #46 Texans select - Clint Sintim, OLB Virginia 6-3 256
stand up elephant linebacker, can come in blitz packages or drop into coverage, good character hard worker who brings a physical presence (would take English but project him off the board here).
3rd. RD. #77 Texans select - Rashad Jennings, RB Liberty 6-1 231
Power-back with good feet to complement Steve Slaton. also looks good receiving ball in space using soft hands & ability to run after catch.
3rd. RD. #85 Texans select - (via Phi.) Jonathan Luigs, OC Arkansas 6-4 301
the last of a really solid group ready to start as a rookie. strong @ the point of attack, uses good base for leverage with excellent hand placement to redirect tackles. question early if footwork good enough for ZBS but think Gibbs would easily develop him into the Texans future starting center for the next 10 years.
4th. RD. #108 Texans select - Lawrence Sidbury, Jr. DE Richmond 6-3 266
developmental proto-typical 4-3 DE with long arms & overall athletic ability.
4th. RD. #114 Texans select - (via Min.) Jonathan Casillas, OLB Wisconsin 6-1 228
WLB back-up to Adibi, very similar player coming off injury & only reason still available excellent in prusuit & coverage.
4th. RD. #117 Texans select - (via Phi.) Brandon Tate, WR/KR North Carolina 6-0 183
playmaker similar to Jacoby w/better hands. another prospect who falls coming off injury. love his big play ability can run good routes.

That would be sweet.

So....does Mathew Sandford get killed in a car crash with in the next six weeks ? Or did I miss something ? That truly would be a great scenario for Detroit. Pass him up with the one and have him fall past the guys in the teens very quarterback needy...and take him with the thirty three.

Something pretty similar happened to Cleveland in 2007.

Why would Philly trade up for Moreno when Wells would be available under this scenario and he'd be a much better compliment to Westbrook?

Ourlads has steadily gone downhill, since purchased by Dan Shonka 4 years ago. It was once one of the top draft guides (along with PFWs written by Joel Buchsbaum). Now? :spit:

everyone is entitled to their opinions. all I can say is its still the best printed format. just go back & watch last years draft you'll see almost every team carrying, unfolding & thumbing thru OURLADS- seems good enough for amateur research then :spit:

on another note I should specify this is not what they think teams will do based on inside information or rumors, they base these picks breaking down game film of prospects then projecting them based on need to respective teams so it has different parameters hence alternate reference viewpoint than Kipper, McClain or LZ. Mayock uses similar approach.

then you guys are really going to like this one - #19 Texans select - Jonathan Stewart, RB Oregon (MAR 31st 2008 Mock Draft). seems they think Houston still needs another RB, well at least they're consistant :)

They must have watched the Texans attempt to convert on short yardage and goal to go situations. For an offense to rank 3rd overall but just 17th in scoring is a serious fly in the ointment.

They probably also caught a glimpse of the Texans 'effort' to run the ball with the lead in the 4th quarter. Yeah...

I don't think anyone is going to be happy unless we trade down. There are just not enough elite players to make it to 15. The same type of player that we take @ 15 will be available @ 30.
