thats a fine wish list :)

LOve Painter as a project QB. Prior to the season he was a potential first day QB. He has more physical ability than Brink did last year.

I don't know much about those guys but we all those positions are that of need. I would like to take a CB higher than that and I thinik Smithiak has shown they will not take a RB in the 1st. Either way, that's a nice list.

have you watched Brown play?

gets points for trading down & adding another 3rd. rd. pick

brace is one of the best DT in this class

Follett adds size & speed @ OLB

Greene fills void left by CC with more upside

Shaughnessy would be a steal here

Wood adds depth to OL

Sutten would complete depth @ RB

Painter could be a Kubiak type of QB to develop, good accuracy

No I haven't and I really am not as good as keeping up with all the guys in the draft and where they are expected to go.....not nearly as informed as some of you guys....so I wouldn't argue with one particular pick at all. In fact I would be happy that those positional needs got met and think it's a good list. Wouldn't mind learning a little more about some of those players though.

Why would the texans draft a running back in the 1st round and we have bigger needs on the defensive side of the ball.

Because a strong running game keeps the defense off the field. Look at our time of possession and you will where Kubiak is getting better at resting our defense.

You explained this better than I could.

Just wanted to add, I believe Brown and Brace become two of the big movers in this draft. I am just early to the party.

Ron Brace not listed top 5 DT on Draft Scout. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/players.php?genpos=DT&draftyear=2009&sortorder=tsxpos&order=ASC

Check out the running back thread, because we can fill that need on 2nd day. I have Green avail in 3rd, but many doubt that. Also, Ian Johnson from Boise in 4th and I have him in 5th.

I think Peria Jerry and BJ Raji will rival each other as to whose the first DT off the board. Jerry is the pass rushing UT where Raji is a run stopping NT that is good at rushing the passer. Brace may very well be the next NT in line after Raji. A team needing one of those type of DTs will most likely not be drafting Jerry or Marks or the So Cal guy.

I've been on the Peria bandwagon awhile, but what is it thats so captivating about Raji & how does he fit the 4-3?

325lbs playing the UT. He has the athletic ability to split the double team, and the size to manhandle his way through to the backfield.

This season has a group of stud DTs, mainly UTs, coming out guys like Peria, and Ziggy Hood will be stars in the NFL once they figure the pro game and if the coaches utilize them correctly.

I just don't agree. I see this being a poor DT class. There are some big names, but I'm not impressed by Raji, Brace, Peria, or Hood. I like Atkins some, but as a boarderline first day guy. The only DT I really like is Cody, and I don't think he is ready to come out this year.

Qurious, what about Raji doesnt impress you?

WOW!! Now I see what you mean. Yeh he is overrated. He should of not just made that tackle but also knocked out the guy blocking him and break at least one of the RB's legs. Had he done all that and recovered the fumble I might give him a first round grade.

Yep I really think he will be gone before we have a chance at him. If some how he is still there at 15 there will be no one else available that could help our team more.

Cody = a young Gilbert Brown
Raji = a young Haynesworth - a little aggression.

Time to update my wish list, this was post bowl games pre-senior bowl.

Time for my post Senior Bowl pre-combine mini-mock

No one excites me at 15, so I am still looking to trade down.

1st Alphonso Smith CB Wake Forest
2nd Patrick Chung SS Oregon
3rd Rashad Jennings RB Liberty
3rd Louis Delmas FS Western Michigan
4th Mitch King DT/DE Iowa
5th Devin Moore RB Wyoming
5th Lawrence Sidbury DE Richmond
6th Stephen McGee QB Texas A&M
7th Kaluka Maiava LB USC

I missed out on my favorite player, Donald Brown, and might consider trading a future pick to jump back into the late 1st early 2nd rounds. Had I done that Jennings or Moore then get passed, and I look LB is possible. Also missed on one of the OC in the 3rd.

Both of these safeties would make the Texans all time best list pretty early in their careers. Smith is small but a play maker, and willing tackler against the run.

Don't see how Delmas makes it all the way to the third when nearly everyone has him rated as a top three safety...

yeah, his first pick is over valued, 2nd & 3rd picks on the money then teeters into the sublime, Delmas in 3rd, King in 4th Sidbury in 5th & Maiava in 7th? is a "wish list" :)

Just my thougts:

- Smith is to short to be a 1st round CB

- Rather have Delmas in the 2nd, over Chung. Delmas will not make it to the 3rd round

- Doubt we draft 2 RBs

- And please no McGee, unless as a UDFA.

I like most of the picks.

4th Mitch King DT/DE Iowa

so now you've got four of them. Now what ? You're making my point. You ain't getting a first step guy past the 37 unless it's blind huag luck. You can slum at linebacker. Might find someone who can get there when they send five. Just hope your safeties can make plays in the 2.5 second window Manning gives you.
Might be able to sneak in a specialist pass rush guy in on third down against him.

I was using a list from the huddlereport.com, sorry it's a subscription list. I admit there list is usually slow at catching guys on the move, guys like Delmas.

I will go back and give you guys where the players are rated by the huddlereport.

26 Alphonso Smith CB Wake Forest
49 Patrick Chung SS Oregon
73 Rashad Jennings RB Liberty
69 Louis Delmas FS Western Michigan
115 Mitch King DT/DE Iowa
161 Devin Moore RB Wyoming
164 Lawrence Sidbury DE Richmond
215 Stephen McGee QB Texas A&M
225 Kaluka Maiava LB USC

The ranking is not considered to be a draft position by the web site.

I did not look for a 3 down DE, I picked up a specialist in Sidbury, and King is a high motor guy that just makes plays, don't worry where you play him, just play him.

I also want guys to remember I said Raji would be a top 10 pick when he was being projected a mid 2nd rounder by most sites, so I try to semi stay with the guys I like where I think they go in April. And I agree with the poster above Delmas should be gone by the mid 2nd.

Boy I hope we draft 2 RBs, cause what if you only have 2 RBs that are true threats and one gets hurt. We need to stop going after the Greens and Browns, and get fresh legs, lots of fresh legs.

And I was like you about McGee until the Shrine Bowl, he was the best looking QB there, and the QBs in Houston looked better then the guys in Mobile. He is what I look for in a late round QB. Plus he has a year of learning the terminology already under his belt.

I expect us to pull somebody off of the Free Agent pile, along with draft 1 RB.

McGee can also do other things for you, like be a part of our Mad Cow formation. If we draft two Rb's, they will be later round guys, like a 4-7. Or UFA.
