K-EYE in Austin chooses Vince-less Titans over Houston

It was bad enough, but almost grudgingly understandable, that they would do so when Saint Vincent was playing. That they continue to force-feed us with the Titans when he's not in the game is just pathetic.

It's all about ratings and it is a business. I used to bash KEYE but IMO they have done their part to try to develope interest in the Texans here in Austin. The problem is the Texans haven't done their part.

I have no doubt that KEYE would love to have the Texans be an exciting team with a lot of interest here in Austin. However, unfortunately the Texans suck year after year and nobody around here cares accept a few of us hold outs.

If the Texans keep this up they are going to have this same problem in Houston.

Broadcasting stations revenue all accross the nation is falling like a rock similar to publishing levels.

What is the point? Just in case the "Chosen One" gets to play? We're not going to suck forever and Austin is not welcome on the bandwagon when we get good.

Almost better that prospective fans didn't get to see this one. Texas is big enough and has a large enough population base that it will broadly support two NFL teams....maybe even three, but if the team sucks for it's entire existence, then very few people will become die-hard fans or even care if the team is on TV in their market.

You can't be the Bad News Bears of the NFL and expect people to fall in love and have a legion of fans across the nation.

Go Texans

The point is showing a game between two division leaders, one undefeated opposed to airing the eternal expansion team from down the road vs a mediocre team from Baltimore.

As someone alread pointed out, if diehard fans can't keep the games on do you think anyone else is going to be tuning in? Don't you think KEYE is aware of that?

The bottom line is the Texans have done absolutely nothing to earn fans, especially outside of Houston. To be honest Earl Campbell is responsible for my fandom in this team. That is because I became a fan of the Oilers when I was a kid because of him. I stayed an Oilers fan my whole life until they left Houston. The Texans were the natural replacement of the Oilers for me. However people like me are in the minority.

The Texans to me have been like a very bad investment. Over the years I have spent good money on tickets, gas, gear, time, etc and have gotten next to nothing in return.

Before anyone can jump on the Texans bandwagon they need to build one first. I haven't even seen anything resembling a wheel yet.

In retrospect, maybe KEYE is doing the Texans a favor by not televising really bad football. Maybe if they ever figure out how to win, THEN maybe they'll show more Texans games and get more fans in the central part of the state.

Good news to note. The Texans game was on the big screen / PA at the pluckers on South Lamar. The Titans game was on the smaller screens with no sound. There were about 10 or so Texans fans there, and only 2-4 Titans fans that I saw.

Without Vince, the Titans are not as popular in Austin.

The problem is, (aside from us sucking) everytime they ARE on KEYE, it's a disaster.

Like next week - we're at Indy, and that game is already confirmed to be on KEYE. Yay?

You do understand that the Titans were on broadcast TV, allowing their fans to stay at home and watch the game, and the complete opposite would be in effect if the Texans were on the tube.

The Titans are undefeated, and regardless of how crappy we think it is, be thankful for any freaking Texans game that is broadcast as crappy as we are playing. Vince will not see the field again until after the Titans have lost. No way Fisher allows VY to take the blame for the teams first lost, when ever that happens.

You are correct that without VY, Austin doesn't give a damn...unfortunately they keep winning, even without him, which will only keep up the hype around the team in this area.

Where were you my brother?

Where were you my brother?

I sent you a message on this thing earlier this week that because of logistical issues I had to have one of my 5 Thanksgivings today at noon. Please tell me that it is in your inbox, I think I even sent it twice. Sorry if you didn't, I made special attempt to make sure you knew well ahead of time.

If you're a Rocket fan, I'll be at 3rd base RR tonight for the Rocket/Laker game with two Laker fans.

as much as I wish the man dead, Bud Adams delivered an AFL championship the first two years in Houston. Mr. McNair needs to throw us a bone the next couple of years or his team fan base will start to erode.

they announced 70K at the game today...I would have placed it closer to 55K-60K myself.
