Zone Blocking Article

Wow. Looks like this should help our middle pass blocking.

I see the need for a guy like Smith or Pittman now. Pass blocking from the RB position is very huge.
 
Uh didn't we like go to zone blocking at end of season two years ago? No one has explained how Denver's zone is better than what we had. Charlie Palillo on espn 790 told me basically same system. Did you notice in first diagram the safety on right side has clear path to QB or the running back. Hopefully the run will be away from the safety leaving him trailing the play.
 
I think one of the issues was the cut block. We didn't use it and Denver and Washington do. I believe most would say the zone blocking scheme is ineffective if you don't use the cut block.

If I am lookng at the same diagram the "S" is identifying the Strongside or Sam linebacker. He is the responsibility of the TE in that formation, at least at the beginning of the play.
