That was the 2006 offseason - Kubiak's 1st. Brees was coming off shoulder surgery on his throwing arm. Culpepper coming off knee surgery was available also and Miami thought he was the lower risk. All pretty much esoteric as conventional thinking is Kubiak had to give Carr at least one season.
