Yahoo AFC Offseason Rankings - Texans #13

Texans34Life

I BLEED TEXANS!
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...slug=cr-afcrankings051006&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

13. Houston Texans – The Texans should be able to put together a respectable rebound season, a la Cleveland in 2005. They added a nice group of solid veterans in free agency with Anthony Weaver, Eric Moulds, N.D. Kalu and Sam Cowart. The draft should have some instant impact, too, with Mario Williams, DeMeco Ryans, Charles Spencer and Eric Winston all vying for starting spots. Plus, Gary Kubiak should be able to breathe some life into the offense immediately.

Got us ahead of the Jets, Bills, and Titans.

well thatd be the highest our O has ever been ranked if that holds true during the season, but i actually believe we'll be better than that !

I think we should have atleast been ahead of the Raiders, considering they will probably get the #1 pick next year.

What kind of record would make you the 13th best team in the NFL? 9-7? 10-6?!? Man, that would be nice for a change! :bananasplit:

CBS Sportsline had the Bears finishing the season at 13th last year. Anybody know what their record was?

I can't read the link (blocked at work) but isn't it 13th in the AFC and not the NFL? Not that it means anything anyways.

Yeah, you're right. I got ahead of myself. :shots:

I think we are better than the Raiders and the Ravens if Steve McNair doesn't join their team. If McNair joins, they could certainly be better than us.

We must've rubbed our bad luck all over the Bills last year when they were beating us. That'll teach 'em. :neener:

Umm, it's 13th best in the AFC. That puts you near the bottom. That equates to five or six wins. :chicken:

You do know they suck don't you??

I see it as :

1...Pitts(they're the champs.......)
2...Denver
3...Indy
4...New England
5...KC
6...Houston
7...Miami
8...Oakland
9...Jax
10.Cincy
11.SanDiego
12.Clevland
13.Baltimore
14.Bills
15.Titans
16.Jets

But I've been accused of being somewhat of a Homer.

You mean five other AFC teams are going to finish better than 13-3?

no......... sometimes the better team don't win........

check out the Houston Texans 2005........ & I don't think the Steelers are going to have the best record in the AFC.... I think they are the best all 'round team though.....

looks like we never learn our lessons when it comes to predictions :stirpot:

therefore this year the Texans will win 8 (8-8) thats about where they should be given the talent, structure and coaching in place so that would be cracking the top 10 in the AFC :mario:

Which is still better than 2. :tease:

Not a whole lot better. 2-14 is miserably bad. 5-11 is miserable. If you go from miserably bad to just plain miserable, is that "better?"

No this is just offensive rankings.....................

I believe they're offseason ratings, not just offensive. But then again, if you don't like them, I guess you can call them "offensive."

I misread the word. I stand corrected in this case. Yep, I guess he does believe that we will be ranked about 13th. I would rank us higher provided DD is healthy. If not, then the RB position will be a real question mark?

Ha, #13 would put us just out of the playoffs. Well, if it is evenly split between the AFC and NFC in the top 12.

I'd be extremely happy with an 8-8 record this year, but I still feel that might be overly optimistic. 6-7 wins is probably more of my expectation range, and anything better is icing on the cake.

I agree with this for the most part, however I would have Cincy and maybe San Diego in front of us.

Good point. That's why if we won 5 games I'd almost rather have another season like this so we can get the 1st pick in the draft.

That's why we got Antowain Smith and I don't think it should affect our ranking that much if DD isn't healthy.

It's not the draft pick so much. It's just that folks who say, "Well, five wins would be better than two" are ignoring the fact that five wins still has you below respectability.

I know I just think that if we are going to suffer through a 5-11 season and get about the 8th pick than we might as well go through a little bit more of suffering and losing to get the number one pick. We shouldn't have to worry about that though considering I think the loss column should only have one digit in it.

That would make all the Carr haters here happy.

We'd have a shot at Brady Quinn.

Are you serious?!?!?!?!!!

Is that you mark vandemeer???

OMG this is too funny. San diego is 11th and cincy is 10th??? :shoot:

I thought the orginal list had KC too low. I see them around #7 and the Texans being somewhere between #8 and #13. All of the teams in that area should all be around 500 ball next year, and that where I think the Texans will finish.

Bias adside, this is how I'd have it:

1 Pittsburgh
2 New England
3 Denver
4 Indianapolis
5 Jacksonville
6 Cincinatti
7 Miami
8 San Diego
9 Kansas City
10 Cleveland
11 Oakland
12 Houston
13 Baltimore
14. Buffalo
15 NYJ
16 Cellar tacks

OHHHH!....and the ref takes a point away, try to keep the gloves up.

Even funnier than that is fan attendance in Jax, i think all three fans frequent this board. :whip:

Actually, our season ticket sales are going pretty smoothly as of right now.

So 5 wins isn't better than two?....this is coming from the guy who went on rants about how you couldn't be a true fan if you wanted the Texans to lose ANY game...especially that last to the 49er's....but now is trying to say that 3 more wins isn't even that much better. Some flawed thinking/reasoning there. Well i guess it isn't flawed when your main objective on a board is to take the general feel and attitude of the board and purposely and constantly go against it.

I think all of you have new england ranked too high...we are basing on current talent and not past history or reputation right??? they have lost a couple of key veterans and it will hurt them this season...Im not sure what their schedule looks like but I still think that number 2 in the afc is too high.

Last year they had a lot of good players leave and they made a huge push at the end of the year to make the playoffs...but still, they've lost more than that this year and you are right they have barely anything left compared to the last few years.

Im glad someone agrees, but I just think people see them as the pats of the past winning 3 out of 4 SB's and not current team they will field this time around. I think they are over-rated.

No kidding, any team that wins 3 out of 4 championships is going to be considered a Super Bowl contender, but they have lost many good players this year (such as David Givens, Willie McGinest, Adam Vinateri, and Tom Ashworth) and losing a great player in Ty Law last year and having a year last year barely getting in the playoffs, I don't see them even going .500. They added nobody in free agency and the only player they got in the offseason was in draft Chad Jackson.

Let's say that the Texans will be better this year than last year. With that said as I understand it then last year they lost the last five games of the season in the fourth quarter as the opposing team scoured our defense with winning comeback points. So even if we play as good as last year but even better and improve on that previous statistic them you should have five wins right there. Okay so then you add another 3-5 games based on the improvement and same teams that we should be able to handle just like last year. Stat predictions are just that but this adds up to be 8-10 winning games mostly based in the breakdown of the defense statistic alone. We know though that it all comes down to gameday anyway but there is no argument for impossible. May I also add to the injury prone related to the less production theory well that can also apply to the other teams and only time will tell.:fans:
