"Worth the Wait: Gary Kubiak and the 2015 Denver Broncos"

Premieres at 7:00 PM CT - NFL Network - Wednesday, September 7, 2016

I figured Kubiak's documentary could use it's own thread.

Much respect to the old coaches. I think it's pretty cool that he was able to return to Denver and reunite with Elway to achieve a championship.

And then you have Son of Bum, Wade Phillips, who is the only coach that I can think of that returned to be an assistant coach to a franchise that he was once head coach.

NFL Network Celebrates Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos Wednesday, September 7

The night before the 2016 NFL regular season kicks off, celebrate the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos with the premiere of three new shows on NFL Network.

On Wednesday, September 7, Worth the Wait: Gary Kubiak and the 2015 Denver Broncos, America's Game: 2015 Broncos and Top 10 Peyton Manning Games premiere on NFL Network starting at 8:00 PM ET.

Worth the Wait: Gary Kubiak and the 2015 Denver Broncos

At 8:00 PM ET, Worth the Wait: Gary Kubiak and the 2015 Denver Broncos airs, providing a behind-the-scenes look at some of the biggest moments and decisions that led to the Broncos' win in Super Bowl 50. Building off of the success of last year's Do Your Job: Bill Belichick and the 2014 Patriots, Worth the Wait features sitdown interviews with Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak, defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, Executive Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway and the entire Broncos coaching staff.

Narrated by Broncos fan and renowned actor Tim Allen, the hour-long show provides an inside look at the Broncos' journey to the franchise's third Super Bowl title. Featured on Worth the Wait is previously unseen wired sound and footage of Kubiak, quarterbacks/passing game coordinator Greg Knapp and quarterback Peyton Manning discussing Manning's removal during the Week 10 game against the Kansas City Chiefs and his return during the Week 17 game against the San Diego Chargers; Broncos coaches providing insight on such plays as the winning touchdown run in overtime against the New England Patriots in Week 12; and a look at one of the greatest defenses in NFL history as told by the coaching staff.

I was pulling for Wade more then anyone to win that Superbowl. They go on and on about how great that Broncos D was, but I hardly every hear them mention anything about the guy who was running it.

Me, too. I have nothing against Kubiak and thought it was a cool story to see him reunited in Denver with Elway, but Wade is close to our hearts as Son of Bum. I was glad he got his ring and only wish his daddy could have been there in person to see it.

From what I've been told, Wade is the same person when you meet him as you think he is as a celebrity. Just a genuine country boy that loves him some football.

He should get a LOT more credit for that championship than he does.

I'm guessing his daddy raised him right.

Good show. I didn't understand the "Worth the wait" theme, but I got it now. Many of the position coaches had years & years of coaching experience in the NFL without winning a Super Bowl, Wade waited the longest, 38 years.

I know my reputation around here points to the title, but I was absolutely pulling for Wade most of all (I favor the Houston family, and if Bum is king - Wade is a prince in Houston and has earned a ring more than anyone in the NFL). I'm on record before he was hired that the team was built for Wade, but that was only his projected starters. What he turned the entire roster into is borderline silly the way they destroyed teams. Elway appeared to have given half of the 53 to Wade's linebackers and linemen - they rotated and killed like truly nothing I've seen before. All too often I expected a flag to show up because you're not allowed to have 15 linebackers on the field. He doesn't do it with Dick Lebeau exotic designs, or stretching the rules as far as possible like Belichick - Wade is far and away the best teacher, give him proper clay and he can make his 1 beat your 1. Last year he was given more talent that he'd ever seen, and his backups were abusing probowlers.

I recorded the show and will probably watch it tomorrow. Don't spoil it for me, but I truly hope Wade gets his due.

My takeaways from the show:

Peyton is a douchebag
Kubiak's "aw shucks" attitude and "battlin'" still make me rage for some reason....

The ending really got me. Bum Phillips coaching 'Luv Ya Blue', his son coaching the defense and a potentially great kid as his ball-boy. When Wade choked up saying 'Kubiak put his hand on my head and said 'Bum would be proud', that was emotional for me'. That brought it home. For all of my arguments about how and why and everything else, this is why I'm proud of what they did and why I'm most sad it wasn't done in Houston. Wherever they are, those two are irreplaceable parts of the Houston football family. Wade had to work his ass off for decades, but finally got his ring with his friend and I think that's how Bum would've wanted it. I'll probably have to watch it again to remember the rest of the show, everything but the last 5-10 minutes got blanked from memory.

Not that he needs another story of affirmation, but my folks attended a concert a few months ago and were sitting just a few feet away from Wade. They said the same thing, he's exactly who you think he is.

Haven't had the opportunity to see it. Did they say anything which reflects on the McNair forced Wade on Kubiak storyline? Always seemed it was a natural fit rather than a force but open to info rather than conjecture.

Very little Texans at all, and no to your question. I agree that they seem perfect for eachother.

Also, to my previous posts, I'm almost just as excited watching Bill Kollar. Again in the category of 'Worth the Wait' ... or more accurately 'earned it more than anyone', it was awesome to see Kollar celebrating. That's one hell of a coach, and along with Wade should have more jewelry than Mr T.

Huge fan of Bum & Wade.

Pretty sure Dave Campo went back to the cowgirls as an assistant coach after Jerry canned him as HC.
