Worst Football Ever?

Ok folks at 0-4 this is gonna be a long season! Which football team is the worst you have ever seen? I can recall the early 70' s Oilers as really bad! The expansion Bucs were horrid as were the The Bag full of Aints! Where would you rank this Texan team ?
:fishing:

The Texas Terror was the worst football I've ever seen. I missed the Oilers so much I never enjoyed a minute of it.

'82-'83 Oilers were the worst team I call my own.

The worst non-expansion team that I remember were the '80 Saints that beat the Jets (QB Richard Todd had a horrible day for the Jets) by a point extremely late (week 15) in the season for their only win.

Seems like the Saints blew a 35-7 halftime lead to the 69ers against Montana the week before getting their only win. The 69ers were pretty bad that year too.

The legend begins: (Dec. 7, 1980) San Francisco trails New Orleans 35-7 at halftime, but Montana connects with Dwight Clark for a 48-yard gain on the first play of the second half. It was a sign of things to come. The 49ers eventually tied the game, sending it to overtime, when Ray Wersching’s 36-yard field goal provided the winning margin, 38-35. The comeback win not only set an NFL record, but it also signified Montana’s coming of age as the team’s leader.

The 0-14 Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1976 has to be the worst team in modern NFL history.

Man, I hope we don't take that particular distinction from them!

C'mon, Texans, win one soon!!

the 2005 Houston Texans are the worst team I've ever cared so much about, it really hurts and makes me maddest. there seems to be no accountability, no source or singular root cause and little to no hope remains for this season :bag:

I grew up with the Glanville Oilers... and then they turned to the Pardee Oilers and finally the Fisher Oilers.

Even in the final year that the Oilers were in Houston they didnt look as pathetic as the Texans do right now. Our offense looks confused. Our defense plays without heart. Our special teams does just enough to be the best part of our team.

I've never seen a team that cant move the ball at all. I've never seen a team that even in a 3rd and long situation oposing offenses have a pretty good shot at converting the 3rd down.

I'm in for the long haul but right now... the Texans are as bad as a team could possibly be.

True, however that was their expansion season. You know what they did in their 4th season (where we are at right now)? They finished 11-5 and made it to the NFC Championship game. They probably should have made it to the SuperBowl however the Rams had a couple of "favorable" calls in that game.

...and finally the Fisher Oilers.

That '94 Oilers club was one of the worst I can ever remember. We started with Cody friggin' Carlson as our QB. Pardee lost his job to Fisher about midway through the year. We had run and shoot talent and switched to a run-first offense when Fisher became H.C.

I became an Oiler fan during the incredibly bad Bill Peterson back to back 1-13 era in 72 - 73. Nothing I've seen since then has been worse than that group. That was some brutal stuff there...Sid Gilman took over and we were in second place in the tough AFC Central by 74. Bum Phillips took over and went 10-4 his first year but fell back to 5-9 the next season. Bum went 8-6 the year after that before his glory days....so it may take awhile to fix this team fully if you want to be realistic about this. The NFL is a tough league and there are tons of teams to jump in order to be among the best.

I have a tape of a game from the 1972 Oilers on MNF....pretty bad, probably the worst I've seen.

I have a tape of the 1984 Oilers (Warren Moon's first game). They remind me alot of what we see now.

The Panthers won their first game and then lost the last 15 two years before they appeared in Super Bowl 38.

The good thing about the "New NFL" is that teams can quickly become competetive from year to year. So even if we are way down this season, there's a good chance we can quickly turn things around and field a team with hopes for the playoffs next year.

Some people say that Imma dreamer...
