"Kailee Wong may be on the move yet again.
In an article posted on the team's official website, Wong has been noted as "seeing some action on the inside". Though the article does not specify, Wong could be challenging Jay Foreman for his starting spot. Outwardly though, this is a move to just provide depth in case of injury.
Wong was a starter at middle linebacker in the Vikings' 4-3 defense before signing as a free agent with the Texans in 2002. While the inside position in the Texans' 3-4 scheme is still a linebacking one, some things will be different from what he's done from outside the past two years.
"It's small things, hands and feet. You have a different dominant hand, a different dominant side. You see angles in a different way," Wong said. "Those are really the only differences. Other than that the two positions are interchangeable."
Word of Wong's shift to the inside position comes shortly after a report last month that, in earlier offseason workouts, Wong had been making the transition to right outside linebacker. Wong has been the Texans' two-year starter on the leftside, but he had been asked to vacate the position to make room for rookie Jason Babin."
