This is my "WHERE'S THE BEEF" mock. We need to take the opportunity to fortify our O-line and D-line, it's the foundation of any football team. This mock fills current holes, offers depth where it's needed, and fills future holes. This mock is what I would do if I were GM, not a prediction of what Smith/O'Brien might do. Someone please lock Rick Smith in the closet and let him out next week.
1. Jason Spriggs-OT, insurance against Duane Browns injury or a big upgrade at RT, also our future LT. Improves our O-line talent and protection of our new QB. NFL level coaching and S&C program will take care of any perception that he's weak at run blocking.
2. Austin Johnson-DT, run stuffing DE who can also put some pressure on the QB in a 3-4 alignment and sub for Wilfork at NT occasionally. He can also play inside when we line up in a 4-3 alignment.
3. Jerrell Adams-TE, good size and speed, very athletic TE. He'll need some work on blocking but he's an over the middle pass catcher who's decent as a blocker.
4. Graham Glasgow-OG/C, he's got OT size and proportions and a very good inline blocker but he lacks in side to side agility, thus the reason he plays inside the O-line. Don't worry our new QB is tall, he can see over him.
5. D.J. Reader-NT, he'll rotate and learn from Wilfork for a year. Good in the box run stuffing NT that can put enough pressure up the middle to eat up double team blocks.
5b. Aaron Burbridge-WR, not a burner but decent speed and fights for the ball, offers quality depth at WR.
6. Deon Bush-FS, decent size and speed, and not afraid to get physical. Also very good on special teams and late round safeties are going to be playing alot of ST.
