If I understand correctly, the Texans have until the end of this week to offer Carr that extension. I would say that will be the tell all to what they are planning to do with this #1 pick. Right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Tha_Tinman said:So NOW ...we're looking to see IF and WHICH contract extension Carr may or may not get.
Let's explore the options ....shall we ...
1) They do not re-sign him ...what happens then? Does he fulfill his current contract and then go to free agency? How many years or left? 1 or 2? Also, I would think that we would then get Vince ...right?
2) They sign him to a 2 year extension ...then maybe we're looking at a sign & trade ...or 3 year extension ...we're looking at getting Bush or D'Brick ...or some other option with the pick.
3) Any other scenarios?
In a perfect world ...we end up with 2 early picks ...and get both Vince & Bush ...like that trade rumor of Carr for Ricky Williams and a pick ...or sumthin like that ...I'd love it. Say what you want about Ricky ...the guy can play football.
I'd also like to make a push for T.O. ...I mean put all that together ...free agency is going to be very attractive ...we could be talking playoffs next season.
Don't tell me what a young QB can't do ...not after the past 2 seasons the Steelers have had ...we could be right up there.
I say Carr, Davis, the 2nd round pick, and even our beloved AJ are all trade bait.
MorKnolle said:FYI, if they don't give Carr his extension he is done now and as of March 2nd this year he is a free agent and leaves the team and we get nothing in return for him.

Tulip said:My guess is that they're taking a their time with this because they can. I don't expect anything but the 3-year extension.
Even if they wanted to trade him (which I seriously doubt), they may still have to sign him for 3 years because they wouldn't want him to appear less valuable to other teams.

Tha_Tinman said:Okay, so I guess the plot is thickening. The Texans DID offer the contract extension.

No details as of yet ...that I'm aware of at least. Man I hope this works out for the best. (FYI The Best=Vince Young).
MorKnolle said:The press conference to announce it was 1.5 hours ago. Although it is still a slight possibility, after listening to them I'm pretty sure Vince isn't going to be drafted to come here.
Tha_Tinman said:Did they say anything about Sherman accepting the coaching offer?
Tha_Tinman said:SportsCenter just reported that the Dolphins may be interested in trading Ricky Williams for a good QB. They said that at $545,000/per year Ricky was a "BARGAIN" ...also, that he still has 1500yd rushing potential.
I Agree. I'd push the button on that one. The question is ...could this potentially be a multi-player trade ...if so ...who would you like to get from Miami ...or give up in Houston.
Dolphins
RT Vernon Carey
DT Vonnie Holliday
CB Sam Madison

MorKnolle said:This rumor has been floating around for weeks. Carr isn't going to be sent to Miami for Ricky Williams, that makes absolutely no sense for the Texans to do that. With Tim Couch trying to make a comeback, Jon Kitna likely being available, Philip Rivers maybe being available, and with either Daunte Culpepper or Brad Johnson on the market the Dolphins have plenty of free agent or trade options (as well as the draft) for a QB, but Carr is not one of them. I think the Dolphins would likely go after a better veteran (Kitna or Brad Johnson if the Vikings keep Culpepper over him) to start for a couple years and then drafting someone, either a Cutler in the 1st round if he falls, maybe Croyle or Jacbos in the 2nd, or waiting til later in the draft for more of a developmental kind of guy, although they do have Brock Berlin on their roster already. Brad Johnson could definitely be an option because they are only a couple players away from serious playoff contention, and he has the ability and playoff/Super Bowl experience to get them over the hump and back in the playoffs next year.
Tha_Tinman said:You who knows nothing! It would make PERFECT sense. In all this talk of cap hits and what not ...getting a player of Ricky Williams abilities for that price tag is an option you HAVE to explore. Maybe, the particulars are too much ...but it would be *****ic not to explore it.
Say, what you want but deep down we all know that Vince Young, win or lose, is the best fit for these Houston Texans ...WHY??? The guy is gonna sell tickets and bring excitement back to Houston football!
