Will have signed any FA by this time tomorrow?

to be honest with u i dont think so, i mean we will sign some FA but i dont think it will be any BIG NAME ones and especially this early. BUT we should get a few before all the good ones are gone.

At least management has had a little extra time to decide who interest should be in among those available.

My question is where is John McClain? The dude has one little article about free agency that anyone of us could have written and nothing else. Come on, there needs to be some reporting on free agency.

Pure Speculation

From what I have been hearing the Texans are in very serious talks (although not official b/c this would violate team rules) with several agents (sorry to note but no big names). What's up with the local media?

Texans are scheduled to meet with Brad Hopkins.

Lacharles would be so great to Replace McKinney @ center, Draft D' Brickshaw, and pick up Arringtion at MLB, wong on the outside and Peek on the other! We need @ least one Big name Key Free Agent!

I hope we dont roll the dice on Bennie J. This year, we need a TE!!!

Why are the Texans saying they aren't going to be very active in the FA market? It seems to me this would be the perfect way to improve the offensive line. What am I missing here?

I suspect that Putzier will be a signing and it probably won't take long. After that, I have no clue.

I think someone mentioned this before last season. Should we try to get Berrian? Isn't he Carr's target from Fresno state? Is he any good? Think he might be avaialble after da Bears' acquire the El?

Replace the guy we just signed to an extension? Dont see that happening for a few more years.

McKinney will play LG for us this year, and we will probably start Hodgdon at OC unless we get someone better... like Bentley.

i liked Hofgdon at center last year, he seems like a pretty solid blocker on the run and the pass, could be my imagination but it seemed to me carr had more time to throw the ball when he was in the game.

I too want to see some action in FA. I think Putzier will come at TE. Bruce and Walker at WR aren't going to happen. Maybe we will pick up Moulds or Givens. Arrington would be great or an established OL (even though the draft is deep with OL), I would like to get at least 1 maybe 2 high quality FA's before the draft.

i admit A.V is good, kris brown had a down seson last year, yes i admit that, but why pay so much more money when we have a solid kicker in kris brown, its not like our kicking game is a weakness.

Nailed it, except the Arrington part. Putzier is the obvious target in FA in short term. Although we could get a quality TE in the draft at #33, I don't see us using #33 on a TE... maybe young LB (D'Qwell?).

A.V. is obviously better than Brown... but at what price are you willing to upgrade the K position? I would rather focus those dollars on more pressing needs.

aww.. I may be drunk, but you're talking out of your...... merry christmas :)

Putzier may make a difference on this team, but, for some wierd reason, I still have faith in Joppru. If he makes it past pre-season :)

If we sign Putzier I hope we don't have to overpay him, he's not that great of a TE but I guess he's better than anything we have at this point.

hmm joppru, i mean tony hollings played more than him but atleast he got injuried in games that counted. it will be time for joppru to retire pretty soon. what is this his 3rd year ?

At least he never got hurt during the actual season :)

haha oh yeah thats something to be proud of, he needs to be in a bubble. what can he do without getting hurt, i guess golf has taken a toll on him. poor guy :brickwall

Drafting TE is much more favorable than Free Angency TE, but do you want to spend a #2 on a quality TE.

Signing Putzier at least brings in someone familiar with the offensive blocking philosophy on O.

I think we'll be fairly quiet on FA, with the exception of making sure we solidufy Craig Nall (QB).

BTW, you know your team is in trouble when Craig Nall is the talk of rumor mills for your team heading into Free agency.

Dude, I'm drunk, rational arguments does not work here. If Joppru put on a dress and started to dance around, I might sign him just for entertaintment value alone :)

And who knows, he MIGHT just prove his worth, if he makes it past pre-season... :)

Question to ponder: If Joppru made it to the season, do you think he would have the gall to hold out the following year, citing a 'career year' in terms of performance?

Don't run the risk... cut bait.

I'll go for the bait, anytime :)

Joppru, I think he feels kinda bad already. Honestly I do not think that he would ever (in his current position) try to better his contract, based on his lack of production. But what do I know? We'll know in a few weeks from now. Personally I'm just not willing to give up on someone with an injury, I believe in chances, and giving chances to people so that they may prove hteir worth.

i think this year will be his last chance, he is just taking up cap room if he doesnt produce for us, and if he does make it to the regular season who knows how long he will last, he gits hurt in the less physical stages of the season.

I want the texans to sign Will Witherspoon and LeCharles Bentley:yahoo:

What are the odds of Casserly pulling that off????

Slim and none and I heard slim died.

Nah, you heard wrong. None tried to kill slim but being a poor shot he missed--he had his breathing down but the trigger jerk always got him. Slim defended himself and none died.

Maaaaaaan, they both missed crucial field goals this past season. They are in the same category if you ask me. Only difference is that Vinaterri is on a championship team. Remember they barely beat us the first time. I don't think they'll have such luck this season when we play them.

Chris Brown is a fine kicker, Capers made him choke on that ball.

Jopporu flopporu, he can ride the payroll cause he is injured can't he. What a joke his pick has been.

We did real good not signing troubled players, untill last year. then we signed P-burnt, johnson. so much for the holy rollers, lets get some football players.

My guess is they will target:

TE- Putzier has been mentioned
WR- Possibly re-sign Gaffney
C- Flanagan is visiting
QB- Rosenfels? as a backup
CB or S- No names...just need a player
LB- No names...just a player...preferably MLB

Do you think we have a shot at Will Witherspoon???

By the names that weve seen as potential visits to Houston...I wouldnt hold your breath for another bigtime signing...Weaver is going to be a good player and he will most likely be the "big" one...hoopefully this staff has the ability to fill roles with lower level Free Agents...thats what wins championships...I really want to see a WR brought in..whether its Bryant or Gaffney

I think they MAY take a real run a Givens. Putzier and Flannagin would be good solid players for us. I doubt we do much more on defense except maybe after June 1st. It LOOKS like they are concentrating on the offense first based on how many offensive player are being invited.
