Why not use Cushing as our "Short-yardage" Back ?

nunusguy

Hall of Fame
Cushings interception Sunday, his third of the year, was impressvie but not
as impressive to me as what he did after he got the ball: he moved it over to the correct arm while running down-field towards the GL and he used a straight-arm to ward off a Colt. All in the same play. How often have you seen one of our full-time running backs do those 2 things in the same play ?
So this is a LB who has some real ball-skills and if I'm not mistaken he learned them playing both running back and WR (among other positions), back in NJ in HS ?
So we've got us a very hard-nosed 260-pounder with some quicks who also has descent ball skills including good hands. And they say Cushing is a "throwback" ? Well then that sounds like 2-way to me, atleast 2-way to the extent of a part-time running back in short yardage and full-time LB ? Finally it would free up roster spot, because why would we need Chris Brown ?

Not so sure about using Cushing as a RB. But then I feel the same way about Chris Brown. LOL

Eh.. Line him behind Leach, Slaton behind Cush. Maybe tinker with it in practice, but I am not seeing it.

I was thinking the Maryland I... double the FBs, double the pain, double the pleasure, double the fun with doublemint doublemint doublemint gum

Power "I" formation.

chris is Kubes boy

I still like Slaton and Moats tho

Cush is a rookie making him a RB is not a good idea

i wouldnt mind seeing Casey and barwin in the offesnsive tho casy might be able to throw the ball around

We need our version of wildcat called wildbull we got the Players JJ has well

We have a pretty big, fast guy with ball skills already on offense. James Casey

HIS NAME IS JAMES CASEY. HIS NAME IS JAMES CASEY. Now Kyle, write that down until you get it.

Kind of a funny thread. Besides the obvious fact that Cushing is already used alot durring the games, I dont see how he would give us a better chance to win.

Would you really want him taking hits from a defense? A helmet to the knee and he is done.

Lets move on.

Haha I LOVE how after losses we always have a "shouldn't we use (random Texans player) in (random role)" every week

Next week it'll be why not use David Anderson as a short-yardage back... line him up at fullback, hand off and have him squirt under all the lineman.. sort of like the hidden ball trick in baseball

He falls down the moment he gets the ball. Its like he starts running in slow motion on ice

no , we should line him up at center where he can use his speed to abuse the DL

I have come hate losing just as much for the posters/fans reactions as anything. Some of the passing thoughts about moving this player here or there just need to be kept to one's self.

Why is that?? Someone suggesting a rookie linebacker morphe into a RB?? C'mon man. Makes perfect sense. I'm about to suggest Matt Turk play QB on short yardage situations. :gamer:
Can you imagine Bum Sending in Robert Brazille on a 3rd and 2?

How many posters here are really Gary Kubiak under a ghost-alias ?
No imagination !
The Pats used Vrabel as a receiver down by the GL and 'da Bears used "the Fridge" as a ball carrier in short-yardage GL scenarios. Both defenders.
I dunno, but I'd bet Cushing would have got the ball across the GL vs the Jags earlier this year without fumbling ?

i think we should all change positions.

Winston takes the snap from Kevin Walter, pitches left to the running back Pitts. Pitts roles out like he is gonna pass. he hits Mario for a td. great call by the former mb guru turned head coach Vinny. i can already hear former coach Kubiak complaining on Texanstalk.com tomorrow morning.

this has been Utahmark with the play by play.

And then, at the post-game press conference...

*crowd mumbles*

*McClain finally makes it into the freight elevator*

*McClain futilly attempts to escape the elevator*

*assistants attempt to pry open doors to elevator*

*McClain is still stuck*
Hey, guys! I've been doing this since 1948, let me out!

*The mexican guy that stole Kubiak's mic brings it back*

*Mexican guy farts at McClain*

*Vinny approaches podium*

*podium slowly rolls away*

*Vinny chases podium*

*Mexican guy steals podium, runs away*

*Vinny goes back to the stage*
Well, I've decided to throw in some trick plays. Whadaya think?

*McClain's elevator creaks*
Yes, John?

*more creaking*
Yes vinny, how would you say the team performed as a whole today?

Well, um... I thought we did good, uh... the offense played good, there were a couple bone-head plays, but we pulled it out in the end. Right?

McClain cant perform his job for the Chron worth a crap .... what makes you think he could .... ugh

Cut John McClain.

Whoa whoa, Have you seen him? It would take at least a bulldozer or maybe even Ray Lewis to knock him over. With enough motivation I feel strongly that he could definitely waddle slowly into the endzone in short yardage situations.

.... Hell , Ana Megan might even be a better option , maybe the oppsoing D would .... Kinda like the Chron expects us to ignore her lack of journalistic skills and watch the

.

Gary Brown FTW. 1002 yards on 195 carries for a 5.1 ypa... Oh yeah, and he only started
8 games that year. :)
