Ryan Kalil is tenancious, played @ USC in a Pro-Style set (with some pretty high rated signal callers) plays with sound fundamentals, keeps his pad level low, his quick feet with ability to move back peddle/lateral/downfield make him THE IDEAL FIT for zbs.
I really like his size @ 6'3" 299 lbs. his quickness/burst is eyepopping for a lineman 1.71 10yd. 2.87 20 yd & can get down the field with his sub 5 sec forty (4.96). Ryans no slouch in the strength dept either lifting 34 times which you can tell when he locks up/hand punches tackles in game film. he is not the vocal leader on the line like Nick Mangold was last year from Ohio State but technically Kalil is just as profeicent & skilled, yet faster & stronger.
I really would love for the Texans to draft him, but I dont see how cause he should be gone late 1st rd. if he creeps up early second its gonna make me nervous with all the teams ahead of us needing line help. Ryan also has experience all over the line. McKinney has been the best Center the Texans have had over the past 5 seasons, they drafted drew hodgdon 5th rd. 2005 but he has never panned out/injured & forget about free agency these guys are really coveted & overpaid.
Ryan is not the only Center prospect in the draft he is just the best of the group who could start very early on, especially if the Texans have a new QB (develop them together as a unit). my 3rd rd pick is another Center Samson Satele, Hawaii, very similar size but gets by more on strength yet also mobile & strong. I've brought him up in other threads even if the Texans don't draft a QB this year his QB @ Hawaii Colt Brennan would be my #1 pick next year for the Texans, just how good would that be if the Texans already had his center
