Why is this site more active than HT.com?

In general, a much higher signal to noise ratio. I find a lot of the main posters here are more knowledgeable than the average poster on HT.com. This site gets fewer drive-by posters, and even the fans of other teams who post here almost always post at least semi-thoughtful things. I think part of it is that you have to actually work a bit more to find this site, so it's one that is more likely to get the more diehard fans interested in more in-depth discussions, rather than the enthusiastic though not too deep posts on the main HT site.

Honestly, though, it's been a long time since I've even read the boards at HT.com. I finally stopped reading them once I realized I was getting nothing out of them that I wasn't already getting here. I'm guessing a lot of other people have come to the same conclusion, and so the people who are going to read/post most regularly have migrated elsewhere.

This board used to be the official board at HT.com. When HT.com decided to change up the board someone over here pulled some strings to rescue the old board and it's history to move it over here. Most of the fans moved with it. That is why this board has more history and more active members.

The nice thing about this board is it is run by the fans. We don't have to worry about any corporation screwing with it or regulating it.

Any ideas

Yes. When the Texans revamped their board a couple of years ago, their message board did not work for awhile. Some nice poster told me about this site, and many of us jumped. I saw all the familiar names, so I stayed. I still post over there, but this board is better, IMO.

Hookum hit the nail on the head! REGULATIONS!! Thanks to Hookum we have a private board dedicated to the fans! A lot more freedom here than on the main MB. I bet those mods over there have someone jerking their chains all the time.

As long as you stay out of the NSZ forum, this is the best board in the NFL!! :worldpeace: J/K! It's the best board anyway!!!

at least for me this site seems to have ppl with more football knowledge. I also get tired of the trade this player for this one.

I remember some posters over there said we should trade DeMeco to get some draft picks then just draft another MLB. They seem to think it is like Madden or sumthing. I'll have to look but i swear I saw a similar thing for AJ on HT's boards.

Yeah I was devastated a few years back when the news came that the main HT.com message board was receiving an overhaul. I made the switch (it sucked) for a few weeks until I got an email from Vinny (I am pretty sure he was the one) that this site was opening up with a ton of the old members. Needless to say, I haven't looked back.

Shamless plug!!!

:jk: You da man!

The HT.com board is just way too silly for me. This place is filled with good people that know their football. Its the best MB I have ever been a member of. :texflag:

this is kinda like a big virtual group hug

That's exactly how it happened with me. It does take time and lots of ongoing hard effort to maintain this board at the high level that has come to be expected. The "founder{s}" and Administrators are the true unsung heroes for affording us a great fan-based meeting place.............of the "people," by the "people," for the "people.":texflag:

I went back to the old board last week, after not signing on since April. Was lame. Could not stand it at all. It's like a bunch of johnsonfans posting in one place.

I can't believe it, I had no clue about this board.

Yes I have been posting a little on the "official board", only because I didn't know about this one. I have been longing for the old board, it feels like I am back home, like I just walked in the doors at Cheers or something.

Don't worry, it is pretty hard to find. The only reason I found this board was someone replied to an old thread that I was subscribed to and it generated an email to me (thanks T.A.).

I only have like 20 posts since March on that other board, there is very little of any value over there, at least right now during offseason anyway. But this is great to have found this board and alot of my old friends, I had given up on being able to plug in with other true fans.

For the record, there is a big overlap of admin and mods from here to there. The Texans for whatever reason will not let us have more than a few mods at that site. When everything moved here the mods did as did their loyalties as well. Only a few of us are trying to moderate the official MB now. We try, but this is a volunteer gig. I try to catch the egregious conduct but it is an uphill battle. Fact is when the fan base from the old TT merged with the old HT it was game over for a long time. 99% of the hard core fans were on one of the two and now are here. Tough to maintain a good MB when all they let you have is a couple mods riding burros trying to herd cats.

I stayed at the official forums for like 4 months after the switch, until i found this place somehow. I'm glad i found it though, i hated the other forums.
