Who would you take over Carr?

swisher

Old School
If I offered you any of these guys straight up for Carr, who would you take?

Bears: Chad Hutchinson
Bengals: Carson Palmer
Bills: J.P. Losman
Broncos: Jake Plummer
Browns: Trent Dilfer
Bucs: Brian Griese
Cardinals: Kurt Warner
Chargers: Drew Brees
Chiefs: Trent Green
Colts: Peyton Manning
Cowboys: Drew Bledsoe
Dolphins: Gus Frerotte
Ealges: Donovan McNabb
Falcons: Michael Vick
Giants: Eli Manning
Jaguars: Byron Leftwich
Jets: Chad Pennington
Lions: Joey Harrington / Jeff Garcia
Niners: Alex Smith
Packers: Brett Favre
Panthers: Jake Delhomme
Patriots: Tom Brady
Raiders: Kerry Collins
Rams: Marc Bulger
Ravens: Kyle Boller
Redskins: Patrick Ramsey
Saints: Aaron Brooks
Seahawks: Matt Hasselbeck
Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger
Titans: Steve McNair
Vikings: Daunte Culpepper

..........

For Sure:
Manning
McNabb
Culpepper

Maybe:
Brady
Vick
Green

No Way:
Favre (too old)
McNair (too old & beat up)
Hutchinson
Losman
Dilfer
Griese
Warner
Bledsoe
Frerotte
Eli Manning (unproven)
Harrington
Smith (unproven)
Boller
Ramsey
Brooks

The rest would be a push, so I wouldn't trade for them either. So out of 31 QBs, there's only six I would even think about taking over Carr.

Do I take it that :fishing: is one your hobbies? ;)

Manning and Brady. The rest, you can keep.

I would take boller.
In order to guarantee a high draft spot to get a new quarterback and no serious cap hit toget rid of boller.

Otherwise, I would keep Carr.

Palmer, Brees, Green, Manning, McNabb, Vick, E.Manning, Leftwich, Pennington, Favre, Brady, Roethlisberger, McNair, Culpepper...

Not to try to be a total arse, but IMHO, I would take all fo these guys over Carr...

Manning
McNabb
Culpepper
Brady
Vick

David has all the tools to be an elite QB. If they can protect him better I think he'll have a great season. There's no shame to having a guy better than you that's been doing it longer and with better teams.

I'd hate for you to be my GM...why would you ever take Favre or McNair over Carr? In their prime, yes...not now.

And Eli Manning has done nothing, so other than his name, I don't see why you would take him over Carr either.

Definite
Manning
McNabb
Culpepper
Brady
Vick

Probable
Green
Hasselbeck
Pennington

Maybe
Bulger
Palmer
Eli Manning
Roethlisberger
Delhomme
Leftwich
Brees

Probably not
Smith
Losman
Warner
Harrington
Boller
Ramsey
Brooks
Griese
Collins - not with our line
Plummer

Definitely Not
Favre - age
McNair - age
Hutchinson
Dilfer
Frerotte
Bledsoe
Garcia

For sure I'd take Manning, Culpepper McNabb and Brady. I love Carr and think that he can be good... if not better than all of these QBs... the numbers just dont show it as of yet. Vick is an amazing athlete and if we would of come into the league a year earlier he would be wearing a Texans uniform. He's just not an amazing QB yet. Last year he did have a career high in completion percentag... something around 51%. That's just not gonna get it done. Pennington remindes me a lot of Carr. There's just something about him that I dont like... cant really put my finger on it. I also think that Ramsey could end up being an elite QB in the NFL when given stability with the coaching staff and a few more weapons on offense.
To be honest though, I dont believe even the Elite QBs could of done much of a better job than Carr has done with this offense over the last few years. Manning and Brady would of been on their backs more than Carr. Culpepper and McNabb would of been interesting to watch try and run our offense with 11 defenders pulling at their shirttails.

Amen! Although not the best in the NFL, we're fortunate to have him... a class act who has remained healthy even though he's been pretty much naked every week in his first 3 seasons.

As his protection grows, so will his confidence, leadership, and QB rating. I really believe this is inevitable, can't wait.

Well that makes two of us...

my thoughts exactly, I was fixin to blast him but when I compared his stats vs Carr's first year stats, E. Manning's were not that bad. But then again the Giants were not a first year expansion team either.

#1. Vick
#2. Brady
#3. Manning
#4. Culpepper

Carson Palmer, and Ben Rothlisberger are close, but I keep Carr.

love david carr, but realistically cannot say that i wouldnt take mike vick or peyton manning....heck, i think even the patriots would take manning straight up for brady, he is the best qb in the nfl, and its not even close

Certainly:
P. Manning
McNabb
Culpepper

Possibly:
Plummer
Green
Delhomme

No Chance:
Vick
Brunell
Testaverde

If anyone wants a Vick at QB, just get a stud RB and move him to QB and he might even have better passing accuracy than Vick.

Hell with the folks they have around Manning most QGs would look great also, not to take anything away from Peyton. Don't forget we have been building a franchise around a young qb so he is going to develop slower that someone like manning. I really don't see Manning waking in the middle of the night dreaming about being sacked AGAIN.

Carr had had a MUCH MUCH tougher introduction into the league that Manning did.

 Funniest thing ive heard in a while

Bears: Chad Hutchinson--I wouldn't trade a piece of gum for this guy.
Bengals: Carson Palmer--Pretty close, both young guys on way up. Push.
Bills: J.P. Losman--Too early, hasn't proved anything yet.
Broncos: Jake Plummer--Good lord no.
Browns: Trent Dilfer--Nope.
Bucs: Brian Griese--Nope.
Cardinals: Kurt Warner--Do I even have to answer this one?
Chargers: Drew Brees--Only if he had another good season in 2005, then definitely.
Chiefs: Trent Green--Better than Carr, but on downside of career.
Colts: Peyton Manning--No brainer.
Cowboys: Drew Bledsoe--Ugh. No way in hell.
Dolphins: Gus Frerotte--Worse than Bledsoe.
Ealges: Donovan McNabb--No brainer.
Falcons: Michael Vick--No brainer. (as long as he learns to throw.)
Giants: Eli Manning--Too early, needs to prove it.
Jaguars: Byron Leftwich--Push.
Jets: Chad Pennington--Push.
Lions: Joey Harrington/Jeff Garcia --Even if you got both for Carr, no way.
Niners: Alex Smith--Too early.
Packers: Brett Favre--Too late.
Panthers: Jake Delhomme--Yup.
Patriots: Tom Brady--No brainer.
Raiders: Kerry Collins--No.
Rams: Marc Bulger--Yes.
Ravens: Kyle Boller--No way!
Redskins: Patrick Ramsey--No way!
Saints: Aaron Brooks--More talent than Carr, but not nearly as a good a QB. No thanks Aaron.
Seahawks: Matt Hasselbeck--Meh. Maybe.
Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger--After another good season? Oh yeah.
Titans: Steve McNair--Too old.
Vikings: Daunte Culpepper--No brainer.

Good to see that there is at least one Bills fan that isnt a total homer.

Panthers: Jake Delhomme--Yup.
Finally someone gives Delhomme some props. I think he is the most underrated QB in the NFL.

I wouldn't trade Carr for anybody. Even if we could say trade Carr straight up for P. Manning, I think it might hurt the team because of how much Manning costs compared to Carr. If there wasn't a salary cap, then maybe i'd trade him, but I like Carr, he's got alot potential. :texflag:

Without any Line changes, I'd only swap for McNabb or Vick.

At least I know that they can "Run for their lives" with the best of 'em! :heh:

i complete agree, and i love having carr....any man that takes the hits he takes can qb my team anytime, i was just saying, strictly from a numbers standpoint, manning is a god, and ANY team would take him for their qb straight up, but im by no means rushing carrs development or saying he needs to go...but he is peyton freaking manning. oh yeah, and mike vick is the truth!

The obvious are Manning, Brady, Culpepper, Mcnabb, and Vick. But outside those top 5. It's pretty much Carr all the way for now.

But i see Carson Palmer, Big Ben, Carr, kinda all mushed up in the same feild.

its close but big ben has the luxery of an outstanding line. i think carr is a better qb but ben's stats are better because he has time.

Bears: Chad Hutchinson - lol
Bengals: Carson Palmer - push
Bills: J.P. Losman - too early to tell
Broncos: Jake Plummer - nope
Browns: Trent Dilfer - hahaha
Bucs: Brian Griese - naw
Cardinals: Kurt Warner - uhhh, no
Chargers: Drew Brees - if he has another season like last year, then yes
Chiefs: Trent Green - push
Colts: Peyton Manning - hell yeah
Cowboys: Drew Bledsoe - can you imagine this statue behind our OL?
Dolphins: Gus Frerotte - possibly the worst starting QB in the league
Ealges: Donovan McNabb - but of course
Falcons: Michael Vick - all he does is win, and as a student at the Herman Edwards School of football, I can tell you that, "You play to win the game!"
Giants: Eli Manning - too early to tell
Jaguars: Byron Leftwich - too slow and injury prone
Jets: Chad Pennington - push
Lions: Joey Harrington / Jeff Garcia - nope
Niners: Alex Smith - too early to tell, though I was never really impressed by him in college
Packers: Brett Favre - too old
Panthers: Jake Delhomme - push
Patriots: Tom Brady - yep
Raiders: Kerry Collins - lol
Rams: Marc Bulger - nope
Ravens: Kyle Boller - naw
Redskins: Patrick Ramsey - hellz naw
Saints: Aaron Brooks - awnaw
Seahawks: Matt Hasselbeck - push
Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger - too early to tell
Titans: Steve McNair - too old and injury prone
Vikings: Daunte Culpepper - yep

Bears: Chad Hutchinson - Just get him for a 7th rounder..
Bengals: Carson Palmer - Yes
Bills: J.P. Losman - No
Broncos: Jake Plummer - No
Browns: Trent Dilfer - I'd rather take the rookie back-up..
Bucs: Brian Griese - No
Cardinals: Kurt Warner - No
Chargers: Drew Brees - Possibly..
Chiefs: Trent Green - Yes
Colts: Peyton Manning - Yes
Cowboys: Drew Bledsoe - No
Dolphins: Gus Frerotte - I don't know why he won the starting job over AJ Feeley..
Ealges: Donovan McNabb - Yes
Falcons: Michael Vick - Yes
Giants: Eli Manning - No
Jaguars: Byron Leftwich - Yes
Jets: Chad Pennington - Yes
Lions: Joey Harrington / Jeff Garcia - No
Niners: Alex Smith - No, he looked lost against the Titans last night
Packers: Brett Favre - Yes
Panthers: Jake Delhomme - No
Patriots: Tom Brady - Yes
Raiders: Kerry Collins - No
Rams: Marc Bulger - Yes
Ravens: Kyle Boller - No
Redskins: Patrick Ramsey - loool
Saints: Aaron Brooks - Yes
Seahawks: Matt Hasselbeck - Yes
Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger - No
Titans: Steve McNair - Definately, I'd even take 3rd stringer Chris Redman..
Vikings: Daunte Culpepper - Yes

All QB's are products of their OLines and Recievers.

As a Georgian Ive seen Vick in person, he is a good RB and a half***** QB. he would get injured in the first couple of games, and be a waist of money. he can run, but puts himself in a dangerous situation.

McNabb has got settled into the pocket(he can still run, but not like he used to) he would take awhile to get settled in (say 2 years).

Brady would hunch over and cry after the fifth sack. he would also have bellicheck withdrawls.

Culpepper might do decent.

Manning would be nowhere without those recievers and the OLine, and would never get settled in. (not knocking our recievers)

Eli and Big Ben: 2 rookies with entirly diffrent seasons, both will have a hard time this year. Neither right for Houston.

i might trade Delhomme for Carr, he's got poise under pressure.

p.s. my spelling sucks i know, after all i am from GA

For sure's
Manning
McNabb
Culpepper
Green
Brady

Maybe's
Brees
Pennington

The only one's that are that much better than Carr right now.

About 10 guys on the list plus Matt Leinart, Vinny Young and Reggie McNeil.

If the Texans go 4-10 and Carr plays like he did the last half of last year it will be time to start looking elsewhere.

Vick?!!, give me a break! No way I'd want Mike Vick on my team. He's fun to watch but he's expensive and he can't throw. Who wants a QB that can't throw? The AFC would eat him alive.

Tom Brady is a maybe according to Swisher. A Maybe? You have to be kidding me. As much as I like Carr personally and as a QB to lead this team, if the Pats called tomorrow and offered Brady for Carr straight up, Casserly would be doing Swinton endzone backflips all the way accross the field. Maybe? Unreal.

It was only a maybe because of how much time Brady spends surfing for porn....wait, on second thought....

Good Choices for new Blood.

However the one person that is not mentioned is the Aaron Rogers. I believe that guy will be good as time comes along.

Bears: Chad Hutchinson - I thought he retired or died off...
Bengals: Carson Palmer - push as of current offseason, palmer in the long run
Bills: J.P. Losman - not now, not later...
Broncos: Jake Plummer - never like this man
Browns: Trent Dilfer - great player, still not over carr
Bucs: Brian Griese - no
Cardinals: Kurt Warner - noo...!
Chargers: Drew Brees - jury is out on him, but not over carr
Chiefs: Trent Green - i like the guy for fantasy #'s, but not for a team
Colts: Peyton Manning - i like this guy for fantasy #'s and for my team
Cowboys: Drew Bledsoe - only on my backyard football computer game
Dolphins: Gus Frerotte - who? in all honesty, this is probally the worst qb
Ealges: Donovan McNabb - he reminds me of the cubs, he chokes...NO!
Falcons: Michael Vick - with our o line, we know he could run all day. YES!
Giants: Eli Manning - overrated because of peyton...NO
Jaguars: Byron Leftwich - yes,but only to watch freeny pummel him repeadetly. otherwise...NO

Jets: Chad Pennington - big supporter of him, but not over carr
Lions: Joey Harrington / Jeff Garcia - i wouldnt take both of them over BJ..sad
Niners: Alex Smith - this is a franchise headed to its demise even quicker now
Packers: Brett Favre - declining, hinting at retirment...so no...not this year
Panthers: Jake Delhomme - push...he is sooo UNDERrated
Patriots: Tom Brady - he is a winner, also a women, but i still take him
Raiders: Kerry Collins - only for fantasy, and maybe not that anymore
Rams: Marc Bulger - product of the system, still in prime, but carr is better
Ravens: Kyle Boller - kid has only survived this long because of lewis and his d
Redskins: Patrick Ramsey - noo...
Saints: Aaron Brooks - i have joey harrington rated higher...
Seahawks: Matt Hasselbeck - overrated now, great rb though..so no
Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger - hype has gotten to him, i'll take him in '07
Titans: Steve McNair - no, he already left houston once
Vikings: Daunte Culpepper - has the best tools to survive behine this o-line...yes!

only ones worth keeping over carr:
1. Palmer...better looking future even with same o-line...
2. Peyton...its just a given...
3. Vick...probally one of only a few position players who could run behind this o-line, give him the ball everytime, throw once, run twice, give to davis once.
4. Delhomme...about even with carr, new enviorment though...maybe not a good thing though..
5. Brady...simply put, he is a winner, we need that here...
6. Culpepper...probally the best overall option for our team, can move and throw...and he can move!

I do not recall one game where Carr has "willed" us to a win (The Jax goal line TD was nice, but was not a result of great drive). I have not seen how he has made anyone around him better. Yes the line has been extremely suspect, but for the value that we attached to him has an organization we have seen zero return on investment.

I have been patient, but if a dissapointing fourth year is served by him then as far as I am concerned he and Palmer must go.
