from a different site

MINNESOTA-DULUTH (March 8th) senior linebacker/defensive end RUSSELL RABE ran between 4.58 and 4.66 in the 40... 37.5" vertical... he is 6024, 235 pounds... a total of eight teams were in attendance, including Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Miami, New England, NY Giants, Oakland and San Francisco... his results were done on a very average indoor surface, as he slipped a few times before changing shoes... he would become the school's first-ever linebacker to be drafted... but posting 45.5 career tackles for loss and 29 career sacks should help raise his awareness among scouts... he expects to be one of the busiest guys in April taking 5-7 private visits... scouts also mentioned that he could be a 3-4 OLB or 4-3 WLB.

WEST VIRGINIA (March 11th) junior cornerback ADAM "PACMAN" JONES ran between 4.36 and 4.40 in the 40... some had his times faster... 38.5" vertical and nine reps of 225 pounds... he weighed in at 5096, 187 pounds... some teams felt that he showed good, but not great ball skills and awareness during some of the drills... and physically was smaller than they had thought, but were quick to also mention that he plays "Bigger" on tape... seemed to get additional attention from both Washington and Tennessee... senior running back KAY-JAY HARRIS ran between 4.52 and 4.58 in the 40... some had him as fast as 4.48... 40" vertical... a number of teams have mentioned his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, and the fact that he has cleared up some of the questions they had about him off-the-field, as being reasons he could be the "LaMont Jordan" of this draft in terms of a guy taken later in the draft that can develop into a starting-caliber back... junior wide receiver CHRIS HENRY ran between 4.42 and 4.48 in the 40... some had him as fast as 4.38... 36" vertical... said that he spoke at length with Pittsburgh, San Diego and Seattle... senior wide receiver/quarterback RASHEED MARSHALL ran between 4.50 and 4.52 in the 40... 41" vertical... he did mostly receiver drills, but also threw some passes, as teams wanted to get a full read on his ability to contribute across the board... senior defensive tackle BEN LYNCH ran between 5.12 and 5.20 in the 40... 1.75 10-yard... 2.96 20-yard... 4.49 short shuttle... 7.19 three-cone... 29.5" vertical... 8'7.5" broad jump and also did 19 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 6026, 288 pounds... senior linebacker ADAM LENHORTT weighed in at 6030, 230 pounds... did not workout due to a pulled hamstring, but has been rehabbing with the hopes of performing for scouts at the end of this month... Pittsburgh head coach Bill Cowher and Houston head coach Dom Capers were both among the 80-plus scouts/coaches in attendance

TEXAS TECH (March 11th) senior offensive lineman DYLAN GANDY was not able to complete the bench press, as he felt a strain in his left pectoral muscle, which is a minor injury he suffered at the Combine... ran 7.68 three-cone and improved upon both his vertical 31" and broad jump 8'11" from the Combine... weighed in at 6030, 299 pounds... teams are evaluating him as both a center and guard... Baltimore, Carolina, Houston, Jacksonville and Kansas City have all shown additional interest in him, since the Combine... senior offensive tackle DANIEL LOPER ran between 5.22 and 5.29 in the 40... 4.81 short shuttle... 7.78 three-cone... 8'9.5" broad jump and also did 19 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 6056, 313 pounds... improved upon his times, but his lack of ideal weight room strength is concerning... but did show good footwork and technique at left tackle during the Hula Bowl practices, which should work in his favor come draft day... senior offensive lineman CODY CAMPBELL ran between 5.08 and 5.14 in the 40... did 22 reps of 225 pounds... 27" vertical... 8'4" broad jump... weighed in at 6026, 311 pounds... moves very well; will fit in well for a team that likes to pull and trap a lot... keep an eye on teams like Atlanta, Denver, Green Bay and San Francisco to pickup a kid like this between the 5th-and-7th round... senior quarterback SONNY CUMBIE ran between 5.18 and 5.25 in the 40... 4.62 short shuttle... 7.61 three-cone... 24" vertical... 7'8" broad jump... weighed in at 6032, 224 pounds... lumbered during certain portions of the drills portion of his workout... a pure pocket-passer type... can look slow and mechanical at times... not in the same class as Kliff Kingsburry or even B.J. Symons... senior defensive end ADELL DUCKETT ran between 4.92 and 4.95 in the 40... 4.38 short shuttle... 7.16 three-cone... 9'0" broad jump and also did 18 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 6032, 262 pounds... pretty consistent pass rusher on the field, but not an overly impressive tester... runs high on his 40-times... more of a situational type guy at the next level... senior wide receiver/return man NEHEMIAH GLOVER ran between 4.62 and 4.65 in the 40... 34" vertical... 4.24 short shuttle... 7.12 three-cone... 9'5" broad jump... at least a total of 16 teams were in attendance for this workout.

WASHINGTON (March 11th) senior offensive tackle KHALIF BARNES did onlypositional drills, as he felt comfortable with his results at the Combine... mentioned Houston, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, San Diego, St. Louis, Seattle and Tennessee as teams that have shown more interest than most, but said across the board he has gotten a lot attention, since the Senior Bowl... Seattle, Tennessee, Jacksonville and Philadelphia have all setup private visits with him... senior cornerback DERRICK JOHNSON ran between 4.45 and 4.48 in the 40... did positional drills after that, as he was happy with his results from the Combine... senior fullback ZACH TUIASOSOPO did 21 reps of 225 pounds.

WOOSTER, MA senior running back TONY SUTTON, a Division III prospect who played in this year's Hula Bowl, had received attention from Baltimore, Houston, Jacksonville, San Francisco and St. Louis.

SYRACUSE (March 16th) senior offensive tackle ADAM TERRY did positional drills for scouts/coaches, as he was satisfied with his Combine numbers... seemed to get close attention from both Houston and Jacksonville, as well as St. Louis, Seattle and Buffalo... senior fullback GREG HANOIAN (#35) ran between 4.70 and 4.78 in the 40... 32.5" vertical... 9'4" broad jump and also did 27 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 6016, 260 pounds... gave himself a chance with these results to be seriously considered between a PFA and FA grade.

Despite a rainy day, a sore ankle and the likes of Black Entertainment Television and the local Fox 5 television affiliate on the scene, Howard University defensive back Ronald Bartell junior had a tremendous showing for the New York Giants, New York Jets and Houston Texans scouts that came to see him. What they were most impressed with was a decision he made before the workouts even began.

With it severely raining and the grass completely wet, Bartell decided that he would go outside to perform for the scouts, which really opened their eyes. He was able to go through foot work positional drills where Bartell could show his ability to move his hips and feet in a fast motion.

"Obviously you have to give him a lot of credit for even going out in the weather conditions that there were," said Houston Texans scout John Hoke. "They're extremely difficult to work in with the rain, the cold and wind that we had; he did a good job. His combine workout was outstanding and he backed it up today."

An all-Pac-10 honorable mention defensive back in 2004, Johnson set a UW record with interceptions in four straight games in 2003.

Johnson joined offensive tackle Khalif Barnes, who is projected to be a first-round pick, and five other Huskies at Pro Day. Barnes (6-5, 310) only did position drills, choosing not to run or lift weights, and drew interest from coaching staffs from St. Louis, Houston and San Diego.
Derrick Johnson--Washington

Some more still.

Great Blue North

SOUTH CAROLINA (March 16th) junior wide receiver TROY WILLIAMSON did not run the 40-yard dash, as he was satisfied with his results from the Combine... 41.5" vertical... 4.00 short shuttle... 11.10 60-yard shuttle... had lost a few pounds down to 198 pounds, as he was fighting flu-like symptoms the past week... Atlanta, Carolina, Chicago, Green Bay, Houston, Miami, Minnesota, San Diego and Tennessee all spent time with him... senior linebacker MARCUS LAWRENCE and senior defensive tackle DARRELL SHROPSHIRE did only positional drills, as they were satisfied with their workout results from the Combine... Baltimore, Carolina, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Green Bay, Houston, Miami seemed to be more interest in Shropshire, while most of those same teams, as well as Tampa Bay seemed to focus attention on Lawrence...

LAMBUTH, TN (March 23rd) senior offensive tackle STEFAN RODGERS (#55) will be working out for scouts that day... played basketball for two years, while also initially being a tight end before moving to left tackle... was named first-team All-MSC, as an offensive lineman, as a senior... recently had a private workout with Chicago, has another arranged with Houston (March 25th) and also has at least one private visit scheduled, as well for early April... currently, he is 6050, 308 pounds... our staff has contacted his player rep about obtaining additional game film, as we only had Bethel College, Georgetown (KY) and Virginia-Wise... senior defensive lineman JOHN THOMPSON (#94) will also be working out that day, as well.

ALBANY, NY (March 17th, 28th) senior linebacker/safety KURT CAMPBELL has already has a private workout with St. Louis scheduled, but has seen additional interest from Baltimore, Carolina, Dallas, Detroit, Green Bay, Indianapolis and Miami leading up to his Pro Day events... besides his first two dates, Campbell will also be available to workout on April 8th, please contact his player rep for additional information.... will likely have representatives from between 8-12 teams, including Buffalo, Dallas, Houston, Miami, NY Giants and St. Louis, at either one or both of their Pro Day events over the next two weeks, while Indianapolis will be in attendance on April 8th.

AUSTIN (March 10th) senior linebacker JEREMY DAVIS ran between 4.78 and 4.85 in the 40... has previously been timed at between 4.68/4.75 in the 40 at 240 pounds... 17 reps of 225 pounds... 35" vertical... weighed in at 6005, 230 pounds... only one team (Houston) attended this workout, so the Dallas, Texas native would be eligible to workout at TCU's second Pro Day on April 1st if a few teams would call on his behalf or would be available at his own school if necessary... Chicago, Denver, Kansas City and St. Louis have also expressed in him.

WOOSTER, MA senior running back TONY SUTTON, a Division III prospect who played in this year's Hula Bowl, had received attention from Baltimore, Houston, Jacksonville, San Francisco and St. Louis.

Actually, it says players we have looked at, right? :whoohoo:

From NFL.com

VANDERBILT: MARCH 18
The players ran their 40s outdoors on a track, their shuttles on FieldTurf, and then did their positional drills on grass. Twenty teams were there, including defensive line coaches from Houston, Cincinnati and Tennessee.

Player Position Gil's comments
Justin Geisinger OT Geisinger (6-3 7/8, 320) stood on most of his numbers from the combine. He had a 27½-inch vertical and a 7-foot-11 long jump. He did 34 lifts at Indy.
Jovan Haye DL Haye stood on his numbers at the combine, so all he did was get weighed and measured. He was 284 pounds at the combine, but 287 pounds here. He did positional drills as well.
Dominique Morris CB Morris (5-11 1/8, 197) ran his 40s in 4.56 and 4.50, had a 34-inch vertical, a 9-foot-10 long jump, a 4.11 short shuttle, a 6.78 three-cone drill, 11.83 in the short shuttle and 16 reps.

GBN Draft Report

Other than DJ and Antrell Rolle what top prospects have the VISITED the Texans ? (those likely to be first round , top half of the first round)

Its interesting that the only players of significance the Texans have actually had VISIT them are two players that are likely not to be available when their pick comes around at 13 . :hmmm:

Ced Benson

makes me think (1) we're seriously considering trading up if given the opportunity or (2) Cass thinks that the top of the draft is going to go sideways, and/or the other 12 gm's are *****s and that one of these guys are going to fall to us:

Rolle
Benson
Johnson

*two hands of prayer*

I thought that at first as well, then I realized its possible the media just didn't pick up on visits of lower-prestige players.

We have had several visits from Lower Tier guys, Boyer, and the two O-linemen from Cent. Michigan. They are both very good and would add alot of depth if we went after them in the third and fourth. Alot of people want us to get someone for the O-line, but I think getting a D-Playmaker would be a better move. Our team right now have only about 5 D-playmakers at most. Peek, D-Rob, Wong, and Glenn. U can put the other one, but these guys are the ones that make the impact plays for us and we need another especially if we plan on staying in the 3-4.

I know many 3-5th round types have visited Houston , i was speaking in reference to those projected to be first round talents

Benson Visits
the Texans hosted Longhorn running back Cedric Benson on Wednesday. While his presence in Houston is most likely pre-draft due diligence on behalf of the team, it does come on the heels of two other high-profile prospect visits of players - LB Derrick Johnson and CB Antrel Rolle - believed to be intriguing the team. Benson has already visited several other teams, including the Titans, Dolphins, Bears, and the Bucs. (April 13, 2005)
