Who else thinks the Texans are going to crash and burn in 2015

This is a 7 win team at best. Our moronic roster cuts are the icing on the **** sandwich of a season we have in store for us. O'Brien's hubris in thinking he can turn the garbage that is Brian Hoyer into a competent, NFL QB will blow up in his face. The roster holes resulting from Dick Smith's horrific 2013 and 2014 drafts will be plain to see for even the blindest homers on this message board. We are going to have trouble scoring points with a bad OL, no running game and **** starting at QB. who else is with me?

Why enter the season positioning yourself this way? You will be rooting against the Texans with this attitude and will be miserable if they surprise you and have a good season. Be skeptical... Concerned about things... But hostile and deterministic before a single game has been played? Yuck!

I'll let them at least play a few games before jumping off the deep end...BOB and the other coaches know a lot more about football than I do, so I think I'll give them the benefit of the doubt before the season begins.

Our defense looks solid not to mention Clowney is back. Foster should be back sooner than we thought. It's looking like a 9-7 10-6 season.

Hard knocks sure did a hell of a job making people think Brown n James are back ups that can make or break a team, fkn sickening.

I go back and forth...I thin OB is a hell of a coach, but I'm just not sure about some of the more important personnel decisions.

im just going to wait and see. Sometimes I think this is a really good football team. Sometimes I think we (the people in charge) are in for a rude awakening. Can't call it either way. Lots of gray area and variables at play.

I don't have high hopes for the season. We just don't have enough play makers on offense. Hopkins is a beast but be can't do it alone. Foster will be back but I doubt he can go the rest of the way without aggravating another one of his injuries. Our O-line is full of issues as well. If we miss the playoffs I would rather have a top 5 pick in the draft rather than middle of the pack like we did last year.

Super Bowl!

9-7 with last years squad. I'm OK with this years squad, except at PK/KR. Hopefully, the Texans aren't expecting any production from that unit.

For anyone who might be new, a "guest" just browsing through the forum perhaps, or just someone who's unfamiliar with the way the board works please understand that TexansFight starts most seasons out like this and there's nothing to be alarmed about.

Now of course this season might spin out of control and into complete disaster. It might end in a Super Bowl. Nobody knows and it's months in the making. When it's over you'll feel like it didn't last long enough most likely. If you're concerned about a few things well that's just perfectly normal for an NFL fan in the week between the preseason and opening day. You're probably feeling excited, optimistic, a little nervous, and concerned about the weak spots on the Texans roster and you're feeling all of those at the same time. Again, this is perfectly normal prior to the first game of the year.

But this is just a ritual he goes through this time every year when his diaper needs changing. Don't let it alarm you. Everything is going to be fine.

I support everybody's right to be a d1ckhead if they want to. I don't expect this to be a very good season but am withholding my final prediction long enough to see what we do about signing cut players or arranging last minute trades.

I don't know where you are getting 7 wins from. I've yet to see anything to make me believe the 2015 Texans have what it takes to win 7 games.

However, I don't see many 7+ win teams on our schedule. I wouldn't be surprised with anything from 4 to 10 wins.

I did like the talent on our team before learning Hoyer was going to start, before learning Foster will miss 4games minimum. So there's hope OB can do the Patriot thing & coach the players we do have & not the players he wishes we had.

I think the defense will be awesome and that will equal 9-7, 7-9. If Hoyer is what BOB thinks he is then 10/11 wins aren't out of the question. The jury is still out.

My prediction since the draft has been 7 wins at best, however, I would love to see the Texans win more than that and I hope they do.

The offense is a huge concern for me heading into the season. Foster is out for we don't really know how long at this point and Dwayne Brown has a bad hand and our LG we don't even know who that is heading into week 1. We are facing the only player to have more sacks than J.J. Watt last year in Justin Houston and the left of our line is at a serious disadvantage. We haven't ran the bell well at all through the pre season so doing that is going to be a huge key to this season.

My thoughts on week 1 VS Chiefs

I think the defense will be pretty good and we signed Wilfork to clog up the line and improve the run defense and they get a huge test in stopping Jamal Charles Week 1. I hope VW helps keep the olineman off Cushing because he is going to be a key in this game.

We need to run the ball well because last year KC were in the lower 20's against the run but they were #2 against the pass, so I would hate to see us become one dimensional and give Halii and Houston free reign to attack the QB on every play. I don't see our line holding up in that situation. I wish we had someone who is a threat to go deep, because I do like the future at WR with Strong and Hopkins, but neither one of those guys will ever be considered a deep threat. We are going to need to find that guy and if he is the Slot guy thats fine we just need to find someone who can stretch the field and give us room to run the football. Cecil Shorts made a great play against SF, and we need more of that and he has to stay healthy, but that was somewhat of an issue for him in Jacksonville so maybe he can turn it around here.

I really don't know who to pick in this game, and its probably going to come down to turnovers and based on history Alex Smith is better at protecting the ball so if I had to I would pick the Chiefs in a close one.

IDK its hard to predict this team or heck its hard to predict the NFL unless u wanna go with the tried n true the PATS Denver and Ravens will all be the Crown Jewels of the AFC but who know on that one I for one think Denver is going to implode and we wipped the ravens last year with Keenum has our QB so yeah its hard to predict the NFL

well last year we jumped out the gate with 5 wins with Fitzy has our QB so anything is possible IMO and HOYER I think led CLE to 5 wins right out the gate

last year JJ watt was the one man team and he didn't have no help this year he got a VET NT next to him and Hopefully and healthy Clowney

Anyways I think its going to have to be oUR DEF that carries us this hole year IMO WATT WILLfork and CLowney Will heve to play great and our Secondary will have to be ball hawks for use to get to At least 10 wins cus that's the magic number 10 wins

but yeah one week at a time I think or we should be able to shut the chiefs run game Down and force Alex to throw the ball down what we got to do is get rid off all the short and medium throws that Alex smith loves to throw and force him off his spot and make pressure throws

I think, you can include healthy Cushing to that mix. I believe, he is back. For Clowney, I think we need to wait and see but hopefully, he is healthy enough to play.

i'm not as negative as op, but i do thing our OL is gonna suck and make it tough to run and forced to throw too much.

Who else thinks the Texans are going to crash and burn in 2015?

I'm gonna say Pat Travers. Of course, he says that every year.

Sometimes I don't understand all the doom and gloom that goes on with the City of Houston and it's football. Its as if the entire area truly believes deep in their hearts that any football team can't possibly do anything good. Is it the smog in the air that causes this?

I look at it this way. BO'B took a 2-14 team and changed it around to a 9-7 team. That was with guys who were already here. Now he has brought in more of the talent that he knows that he can work with. Guys that will work his schemes . Do we have a question mark at QB? Sure we do. Just have a little Faith. BOB got a CAREER year out of Fitzpatrick last year. I'm honestly excited to see what he can do with Hoyer. Duane Brown is slated to be ready this week. I haven't seen word otherwise. Plus, word on the street is Foster is now projected to be back on the field by the end of September or early October. I have faith that we will win some games in the mean time. This team is more aggressive than the last several years. I see how these guys want it more than I have seen out of past teams. Maybe it's the way Hard Knocks has portrayed things, I don't know. But have a little faith that BOB is doing things different that are making the right things happen.

"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." Dr. Wayne Dyer wrote years ago. That sentence has stuck with me. If I look at the Texans and expect them to lose, they will lose. I prefer to think that I'm rooting for a winner!

Go Texans! :fieldgoal

Sheeze...... Im a Colts fan and I believe that the Texans will be better than a 7 game winner....... I think they win 10, and make the Wildcard

Are you kidding? How long have you been a fan of Houston NFL football? I have been a diehard fan since 1987, first with my beloved Oilers and now with the Texans. Heartbreak, disappointment and anger are the 3 most common emotions aroused by our teams. At least with my beloved Oilers, I was able to root for a deeply talented team put together by a great GM, Mike Holovak. Those Oilers teams were undone by moronic coaching (not surprisingly by an Aggie) and an evil owner in Bud Adams. The Texans are held back by a preening, Uncle Tom of a GM that is the joke of the NFL and a fool of an owner in Bob McNair. You must be very young or blissfully ignorant of Houston's tortured NFL history. The doom and gloom is well earned and justified. The Texans have not earned the benefit of the doubt or anyone's faith. They are not the Ravens or Patriots.

Ehh...I mean, I watched Hard Knocks and here's what I thought about those two...

on Kourtnei Brown: He can get after the QB, but he's out there for himself and not for the team. He doesn't do his job. He freelances and tries to "get his". Then he gets back to the bench and doesn't take coaching and has a **** attitude about it. That's why he's been cut 6 times.

on Charles James: Great athlete and terrific attitude. He gets it. He knows what being a professional is all about. Gives 100% every snap.....HOWEVER, he's (at the most) 5-9, 175 lbs and is a mismatch waiting to be exploited by a good offense. That's why he's not on the team. If he were 5-11, 190 lbs he would be on an NFL roster. I'd put money on it.

If anything I am more negative on this year than the original poster (hoping I am wrong)
Less than 7 wins? Isn't JJ Watt capable of 7 wins by himself? The guy is about to replace Earl Campbell as the greatest Houston pro football player ever (yes I said that). The entire league fears him. I'm afraid of going to Kroger on the off chance Watt finds out I didn't shop at HEB.

Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett, Bucky Richardson...it doesn't matter who plays QB. The Texans will win 8 games minimum.

Why enter the season positioning yourself this way? You will be rooting against the Texans with this attitude and will be miserable if they surprise you and have a good season. Be skeptical... Concerned about things... But hostile and deterministic before a single game has been played? Yuck!
I am the biggest Texans fan in the world. I am dying for a winner. I am 40 years old. My dream is to see a Houston NFL team make the Super Bowl once in my life. I thought that would happen eventually when I was younger, not so much now. I started accepting the fact that I might never see the Texans in the Super Bowl. I have been a Houston NFL fan since 1987. I WANT TO BELIEVE and be optimistic.

And that is exactly the thought process I'm talking about. I've been a Houston Football Fan since I was in diapers back in 1973! I cried when the city lost football. But what I learned by getting out of Houston and seeing how other cities do it was that if you continue to count on the team to fail, you will find every little thing that proves your point.

Have fun picking apart every coaches decision, every dropped ball, every missed field goal and every whiffed tackle. Enjoy another football season wallowing in your own self fulfilling misery. I'm going to spend my energy rooting for the team to win on Sundays. The past is the past. If you let it go and put a little faith in the future, things do change. :fans:

He'd be on my ST and work at running back for a change of pace kinda guy. He could be had for cheap and provide a spark when needed. Just my :twocents::jam:

The D should be good enough to keep us in most games. Offense is the big unknown. Maybe we win a bunch of low scoring games. I've honestly no idea what our record will be and am looking forward to watching it all play out.

Prior to TC and Foster's injury and not counting Clowney to return, I had Texans ranked about 23 for the next draft (9th best); not willing to predict W/L yet. In only three games Foster had 1246 yds and I can see him having a decent season with four or five games on sidelines. I am very optimistic about WRs and even more so with TE's because we might actually involve them. If Hoyer is healthy, I think O'Brien can coach a better than Fitz career best season.

Then f^cking BELIEVE and be optimistic.

At worst they'll be middle of the road and boring, which is highly likely. I don't think they'll crash and burn though.

I think that the Texans will definitely take a step back this year. Our defense is solid, but our offense got worse and the schedule will be slightly tougher. I predict they'll only win 5 games but could win as much as 7. I seriously doubt they'll go .500 or above.

I want the Texans to be either really good or really bad. To me an 8-8 or 9-7 record is the worse thing since the Texans' front office will be satisfied with that and Bob McNair will still believe the team is on the right track. They'll still believe a game manager QB teamed with a good defense is a winning philosophy. They'll forget that they are in the same division as the Colts and Andrew Luck.

People flaunt that 9-7 record from last year as an accomplishment anytime you say something critical of the Texans. But if they had gotten a QB (e.g. Bridgewater, Carr) we would've made the playoffs and wouldn't be in the offensive mess we're in right now!

Then f^cking BELIEVE and be optimistic.

I'm sorry, I can't take the Texans seriously when they say a Fitzpatrick and now Hoyer led team can make it to the playoffs.

If you don't believe the Texans can make the playoffs, it is OK to be pessimistic. A poor record can force positive change and get the Texans front-office to realize the error in their ways.

Perhaps that's why my perspective is just a bit different. I started following the Oilers during the back to back 1-13 seasons 72-73 and know it can usually be worse. But the promise of the Earl/Bum years kept me going. But I'll always consider the turnaround toward hope to have been the Sid Gillman mid season replacement in 73. He might have only won 1 game, but he changed the attitude and next year brought in Bum.

Even if I wanted to be pessimistic it's kind of hard for me to overlook that reasonable schedule the first month. I wouldn't be shocked if we're 4-0 going into that huge Week 5 game against the Colts. And Arian Foster is working hard to return for that game. Our defense is going to give us a chance to win every week. And our special teams can make a difference too.

Let me start by saying I was pulling for Mallet but after watching HK I'm not sure I should have been.
I trust in OB1 and I also believe Hoyer IS an above average qb and what's more.. he's pumped up to be here and have a run with a special team. If you don't think we have the propensity to be the best then gtfo. This coming from a 'noob' to the board, true, but I've been reading you kids for years, and I've been around awhile in general. Plus, I'm a fan, not a ***** and moan artist that some of you seem to get off on. That said.. yes, I am a homer but I'm also a realist. I joined this board, in part, because I dig this community for the most part and wanted to be a small part of it before we shocked the world and especially before people like the originator of this thread thought we had any chance of accomplishing said feat.

I truly believe we can shock the league this year. I actually put a hundy on winning the Bowl at 50-1 a few weeks ago. :bat:
Of course, a few days later we lost Foster and then Hoyer was named starter and the odds went to 60-1 but hey, I refuse to be dismayed. HEH
Maybe I should drop another hundo and snatch 11k.?! :diapher:
