OK, I think this could be an interesting poll. Select every player on this poll that you would consider taking at the #8 pick if you were the GM of the Texans. As I can only put 10 guys on this poll, I'll exclude Calvin Johnson since he's arguably the best overall player in the draft and I know every single person out there would at least consider taking him at #8, and I'll leave out Joe Thomas since likewise I think everyone would at least consider taking him at #8, plus I think those are the two least likely players to fall to us. Again, don't only select your single favorite player, select every player that you would at least consider taking with the #8 pick depending on who could be available. For those math whizzes out there, you'll realize that at least three of these guys on this list will be available at our pick.

Personally, I'd consider JaMarcus Russell if he fell, but I likely wouldn't end up taking him. I would take Adrian Peterson in a heart beat if he's there, he's my #1 option. I would definitely consider Jamaal Anderson if he's there, would probably take him over anyone but Adrian Peterson, and Calvin Johnson but he's not part of this poll. I would think about Leon Hall or LaRon Landry depending on who else is available, but to take either one a decent number of guys would have to be off the board already. I would obviously think hard about Calvin Johnson if he somehow fell, would not take him over AP but would probably take him over anyone else. Joe Thomas I'd definitely think about even though I'm not real fond of taking an OLineman that high, he'd be about 4th or 5th on my priority list.

I'd consider everyone except: Quinn, Lynch, and two of the most overhyped players in the draft from one of the most overhyped schools in the nation (mich.).

i selected peterson, branch, and adams in that order. i just havent seen enough of anderson and dont want to take safety at 8. i believe that we can get landry or nelson if we trade down to the 12 range.

I went Peterson, obv as my #1 option! Then I locked in Anderson just ahead of Landry. I would maybe swap those two if still there and AP was gone...

The only ones I would not consider at #8 are:

Quinn - over-hyped, seemed to take a step back this year
Lynch - could be had with a lower draft pick, wouldn't stay at 8 to take him
Anderson - Adams might be a better compliment to Mario, could change my mind on this one
Branch - not unhappy with the DTs we have, rather add one through FA than the draft
Hall - not much better than the other top corners in this draft, wouldn't take him at 8

Adrian Peterson
Brady Quinn
Alan Branch
Reggie Nelson

Maybe, Laron Landry or Leon Hall.

Rather not with the maybes... Landry will be good against hte run and lay some big hits on receivers, but he wont be that great of a cover safety. We need a cover safety.

Leon Hall has been dominated by some good talent in college... what happens when week in and week out you are facing top tier talent?

Adrian Peterson if he's available at 8 would be my first choice. But there's a strong possibility AD's not available so I would go with Reggie Nelson. I would love to see a Gaines Adams in a Texans uniform, but I don't think the Texans will go back to back years picking a defensive end with their no.1 pick.
