UDFA tracker from draftnetwork.com

Houston Texans
Akron EDGE Jamal Davis II

Oklahoma State WR Tyron Johnson

Michigan RB Karan Higdon

Ohio State OL Malcolm Pridgeon

Ohio State WR Johnnie Dixon

Add in the Colorado NT, and we have a pretty decent haul so far. Davis II in particular, intrigues me. Dixon could surprise as well.

Can we have thread with names of UDFAs without comments that could continue here. Would like to see a list without going through numerous pages. Thanks

The Texans agreed to a free agent deal with former Missouri running back Damarea Crockett, according to a league source.

Crockett has run the 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds and posted a 37-inch vertical leap.

Former Clemson defensive tackle Albert Huggins announced on Twitter that he has signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Houston Texans.

He joins former Tigers in Houston with Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins, D.J. Reader and Carlos Watkins.

Huggins stepped in as a starter for the College Football Playoff and tallied six of his 30 tackles last season (

I can't believe LT, Mitch Hyatt is still unsigned as of 1222 (Italy). Texans drafted 2 guys who came off their 2018 seasons as RT's. Their hope I guess is to get Howard to move back to LT.....a position he played in 2017. At the moment, a bonafide 2018 All American LT from CFB Champions Clemson and 4 year starter to boot is still waiting to be signed. Hey Gaine, he might be the most inexpensive sure bet you could sign to play LT if the rest of the group fails to shine.

RB, Bruce Anderson from North Dakota State is still available and another player who would make a lot of sense to get under contract.

As UDFA, both of these guys could safely be stashed on the PS for a development season, that is, unless they crack the roster. At this point, there is nothing to lose and everything to gain from a couple of players coming off Championship teams.

I hope they sign this guy. Camp body at the very least. Could continue to develop.
Malik Gant S Marshall. 6'2" 194lbs
Man Coverage - Impressive tape in man coverage during the three games I watched. Physical at the top of the route to re-direct receivers downfield, but will need to watch for flags. Good patience to keep himself square to the receiver and open fluidly with the route break. Clean footwork, utilizes catch-man to keep himself in phase. May be a bit limited athletically against smaller, shiftier slots, but matched up with tight ends and bigger slots Jakobi Meyers and Emeka Emezie very well.

Fluidity/Agility - A little tight in his hips and can play through a straw at times, but seemed to do a better job of throttling down and re-directing as I watched more tape. Moving at top speed, change-of-direction can be labor-some for him, but as long as he controls his aggression, he's agile enough to make stops in space against most ball carriers.

Tackling - Extremely good tackler despite filling from a long way off most of the time. Box safety mentality and physicality coming from a two-high alignment post-snap. Takes good angles and finishes with terrific form to target knees to chest and wrap up. Has some big hits in his highlight reel and will send messages to receivers over the middle of the field, injuring three with clean shots against N.C. State.

Run Defense - Outstanding run defender with the ability to close from distance and find the football through trash. Patient and disciplined in his run fills. Natural sense for picking the best path to the ball carrier. Can struggle a bit to disengage from blocks despite good hand work, not surprising for a safety but still something to note. Usually beats blockers to spots due to zero hesitation in his fills, often by design in Marshall's defense.

Route Recognition - Rotated a lot post-snap, both to single-high alignment and to the box. When he was in deep coverage, didn't show great instincts to process routes entering his zone and break on them. Rarely out of position and does not blow assignments, picking up crossers into his zone and communicating through pick plays.

Versatility - Gant has enough arrows in the quiver to play from a lot of different alignments, but he's never going to be an impact deep safety. Just doesn't show the ball skills or range. But he can play there and not give up big plays, matches up in the slot against bigger receivers and is a beast in the box or coming from deep against the run.

Competitive Toughness - Former walk-on who earned a scholarship in 2017. Diligent worker on and off the field, plays with an edge and won't back down physically from anyone. Relentless motor. Hustle plays are frequent.

Athleticism/Size - Outstanding size, length and build for a safety prospect. Not an elite athlete, but he should test well enough and does not appear to be out-athleted very often on tape, even against Power 5 competition.

Has a very nice turn of speed when he hits the jets.
Hard to put on the ground - but that may change against better defenses in the NFL.
Regularly beats the first tackle or breaks it. Great balance to stay on his feet.
Not afraid of being hit.
Be interesting to see him progress
We have a nice stable of young bulls behind Miller and Foreman with Higdon, Crockett and Dixon.
May the best man win.

Got to be a reason he not only went undrafted and still hasn't been signed by any of 32 teams... sometimes fans perception of a player doesn't align with paid professionals thoughts

He’s sneaky fast and shows good power. That’s a good combination

Would love to see us bring in OTs Hyatt, Adams and Brandin Knight.

OG Benzschawel and Herbig

Was going to say mark Fields but he signed with KC

Texans were definitely very interested in Adams so I wonder if he was already picked up?
Edit - Yeah, Adams picked up by Giants.

If still available:-
Tommy Dennis OC/OL Penn. Decent run blocker and pass pro.
Kenneth Trezvant OG/OT Briar Cliff U. Giant - 6'5" 390lbs. Will need an Uber to get around him at Guard. Beast road grader.
Josh Doyle L/RT Eastern Ill. Decent run blocker and pass pro.
Devon Johnson LT/OL Ferris St. GLIAC Offensive player of the year.
All these guys have proto-typical size for the position.

It's not like Clemson games were blacked-out for his 4 seasons.....hell, this is a shocker b/c even I got to see a lot of their games while stationed overseas. He's an All American 4 year LT who went undrafted. First Team All American out of HS, Third Team All American his Freshman and Sophmore seasons, Second Team All American his Junior season and First Team All American his Senior season. Exactly when did he become so bad that OT's out of third level college football programs got picked ahead of him? Texans would do themselves a big favor by signing this guy while they got a chance. Also, any chance their is another LT out there that might know the nuances of protecting Watson's blindside?

So why did 32 teams pass on him seven (7) times? Why is he still unsigned by 32 teams?

They're idiots, that's the best I can come up with. He will eventually be signed and don't be surprised if he's one of those players that folks will talk about later that slipped through the cracks. If so many players hadn't made the NFL as UDFA's then I might be willing to put all GM's and their scouts on a pedestal but even they miss very good players.
