I think it's more desire than pride. Seems to me they don't have the fire in their belly or the desire to be at the top of the class anymore.

Also, I agree with you about D Rob. He is a small guy that's not afraid to hit somebody, a real head hunter.

There is certainly no doubt that this team lacks desire or pride. It hurts me to say it because I really do want them to succeed, but the honeymoon phase is over and it is time to start playing some football.
 
No pride, no fire, no win!

Remember the good ol' days just two years ago that even when we lost if almost felt like a win? We would always play hard the entire game. People like Faggins came from the practice squad to a starter because the desire to win was so strong.

Now we are a lackluster team that is an embarrassment. I, like most people on this board predicted us to lose yesterday when we made picks weeks ago. What I didn't count on was a team that just gives up. If we go 5-11 but fight to the end in every single game from here on out I will be happy. (And Capers will be fired.)
 
Actually pride is Carr getting up and soldiering on after the sacks. I'm in Fresno CA., and watched him through a teriffic college career. The Houston offensive line simply isn't worthy of the name. They are so bad it can't even be coaching, there has to be personality issues somewhere. Good grief, the cheerleaders know that sometimes a lineman has to hold and take a chance on the peanlty to prevent a sack. Carr would be more than justified in benching himself and telling Capers to find another tackling dummy until he gets some protection. He signed on to win games, not be in a wheelchair byu age 30.
 
I had high expectations going into this season. I was predicting 9 to 10 wins. That was also when I thought the Cleveland game was a fluke. I thought our team had fight in them. I thought that they would battle untill the last second of the 4th quarter. Now that I see what kind of character this team has, I'm predicting 1 to 2 wins. If we can pick the 2 or 3 guys on this team that actually care and rebuild from there, then I'll be happy.

Yeah, D. Rob does seem to have the most heart out there. I saw him getting in some folks on the sideline - I think it was babin for that offsides penalty. How did he not make Pro-Bowl last season????

I'm a Carr supporter, but he needs to be more vocal and lead this offense. Offense should be out on the field putting the points on the board when their defense makes the necessary plays to get the ball back. O-line has been horrible, but how about making something happen - seemed like Roethlisberger was the veteran out there yesterday making something out of what could have been bad.

I hope its 2 or 3 wins so we can parlay the picks we'll get into more draft choices since next year's draft is stocked with Oline studs.

I'm sorry, but I dissagree. I'm a big Carr suporter but he has lost what it takes to lead a team. He plays like a coward now. He'll run, even with 0 preassure, and destroy any chance the offense had at executing the play.
 
D. Rob right now is the only texan player who is playing at the level we expected...cc brown is doing ok...peek after yesterday is getting there...coleman is doing enough not to get noticed...but the rest of our linebacking corp couldn't be much worse...you know sharper is watching and laughing at this team right now...our d-line hasn't been nearly as good as predicted...on offense the only player not screwing up is the rookie mathis who's been hurt...honestly this team has no leadership other than robinson and unfortunetly no one is listening to him...buchanan might be a worse tackler than deion sanders right now and that's just pathetic...that's why i think we need a coach with some fire in him like grueden or mora jr. someone who isn't afraid to show when he's pissed on the sideline...right now if you look at capers you can't tell what he's thinking...no passion...no fire...no pride...no fight...these guys are beat...right now i think one of the local high schools could beat these guys

Unfortunatly, that will never happen. In reality, after yesterdays game, they all got in their Porche or Benz or BMW and drove home to their multi million dollar house and slept on a king size down bed next to their multi million dollar trouphy wife.
 
Carr is worse than Warren Moon. Carr is worse that college QBs. Carr is worse than some High School QBs. Its time to trade Carr in for a new Carr!!! lol We need to use MVP of Europe guy! He is way better than Carr but he is 3rd starter up behind Carr. Carr never made MVP for anything, Carr Suxs. In the last game against Pitsburg he did nothing of any interest in the first half and I believe I could have had better stats than him. It is like he is scared to play football. He runs the same running play to the left or right giving the ball to #37. He should pass the ball knowing he will make a completion. Not running out of the pocket and deciding at the last minute to run it or pass it.

CC Brown should not be on the list. He has played his heart out for a rookie. Coleman is a true professional seems motivated to play also. For the most part I am very happy with our secondary's play given how horrible our pass rush is and how much time the opposing team's QB has to throw. Yeah PB's effort on that one play was just pathetic, but other than that I have minimal complaints about the secondary. How does the old saying go..."Show me a top notch secondary and I'll show you a top notch pass rush right in front of it."
 
Okay okay... I was a little heated about things yesterday and you're right LBC, Coleman and CC Brown werent as horrible as the rest of the team.
 
Anyone who thinks this is a step in the right direction is mistaken. The rest of this season will provide all the proof anyone could ever ask for. All this means is that the scapegoat has been handed over to the angry mob.

The root of the problem is still here.

This is just the begining. If my Texans fail to show a winning record, I'm sure the rest of the coaching staff will be out the door aswell. Firing Palmer isnt going to get us to the superbowl this year, but it may show Mr. McNair that the root of the problem is the main guy in charge.
