Where were the trade offers for #1???

If so many people or organizations thought that Bush was the #1 player, where were the trade offers?

Did the Texans turn down any trade offers for the #1 pick?

If we could have dropped down 3-4 picks would Mario have still been there?

I'm OK with the Mario pick at #1. I would have been excited with Bush or VY also.

Some people are still slamming us for picking Carr over Peppers.

All the talk prior to the draft was that if Houston drafted Reggie...Mario would go to New Orleans....or somebody would trade up....New Orleans wasnt interested in moving up for Reggie and Houston probably didnt receive a decent enough offer from New York or Tennessee to move down....They got the player they targetted #1 overall

No, there weren't any trade offers.

There was mild trade interest, but that was before the Saints ended up with Drew Brees. Once that happened, teams didn't feel the need to leapfrog the Saints to get a quarterback.

It doesn't sound like we got "reasonable" offers and New Orleans would have likely taken Williams although Ferguson was a better fit for them. I think they had Williams rated higher but who really knows?

Good post. Why doesn't the New York media rip the Jets for not packaging some of their many picks to move up to get Reggie at #2? Because they had more pressing needs, JUST LIKE THE TEXANS DID!!

rumors were the saints wanted the Jets #4 and #29 and the Jets wouldn't budge ..so if the Jets wouldn't go for that with the #2 pick (and bush) why would they go after it on #1 ....chew on that

from what i heard prior to the draft or on the texans never got a call for a the best player to come out in the last 25 years lol. i think the big smoke screen all along was that the texans were serious about bush may be all along they got the guy they wanted.:twocents:

Either the Texans didn't get a good enough offer to trade down or they really wanted Williams. I think it is the latter. Kubiak made this call, and he wanted to make huge impacts on our defense with the first two picks. It's a choice based on need more than any other factor at the end of the day.

Word on the street was that CC was asking for THREE number one picks. If this is true, I have no doubt why he never got a counter offer.

from what i heard the saints took bush because they thought people would want to trade for him, but no one did, now they're stuck with bush. they had been targeting aj hawk and d'brickshaw ferguson.

Well...they haven't paid him yet. Not EXACTLY stuck, haha.

I can see the headlines now...

"Texans trade for Bush, fans still not satisfied":yahoo:

The jets were pushing hard when NO was on the clock, but NO didn't want to trade.

I knew they said that the Saints and Jets were on the phone during pick #2, but that's about all I ever heard. I know Bush's Marketing Group wanted him in NY.

It will be interesting to see how Bush's contract negotiations with the Saint's go.
