Where is Vinny?

Does anybody here have any contact with him? I hope he is okay and he's doing well. So if anybody does talk to him, is everything okay?
 
I'd like to know too. I know he wasn't in the best health but I'd love to know how he's doing.

There have been a few threads about Vinny over the past 1-2 years, and Ive been following them as best I could. Heres the information I could garner:

1. At some point in the past, Vinny decided to take an internet "walkabout" in which he quit messageboards and focused on offline life. Original intention was for it to take as long as it needed and then he would return. I think the moderation game was taking a negative toll on him, among other reasons I believe. At least thats the impression I got.

2. He never returned from said walkabout, and other moderators with personal contact information have been extremely vague about his current whereabouts. However, they insist he is ok.

Based on #2, I imagine that Vinny liked the way that #1 improved things for him. And so I wouldn't expect to ever see him back. Meaning, we'll just have to take the vague words from mod friends that everythings the way he wants it.


My personal consipracy is that he left and eventually did come back, albeit it with a different moniker and a non-red name, so that he can continue to post but without all the crap given to mods. I have my suspicions on who he might be, but who knows :tinfoil:
 
I heard the big man found a fantastic lady and has been spending most of his time with her. Whatever he's doing I wish him nothing but the best. I miss the guy.
 
Lol @ the Vinny-love. He didn't think enough of y'all to let anyone know what's up. That's cool with me though. I can respect an "each to their own" move...

In truth, someone should visit one of the 49'ers message boards.... Vinny runs or /used to run one their boards, as well....

didn't know him from here, but knew him in 02-04 when he was on the old houstontexans.com message board. He was always cool. Maybe he just got tired of all the crap the texans put us through every season.

Vinny hasn't been on the niner message board since 10/2009 I haven't seen or heard from him in over a year plus. I do know one of the other moderators has talked to Vinny a month ago. Vinny is fine and enjoying his life without the computer.. I am sure when he, is ready he'll come back and say Hi..
 
Vinny is one of the reasons I am around these boards and stayed around these boards. He let me play in their fantasy football league. He offered me tickets...though I unfortunately couldn't take him up on it. He always offered a kind word on the side. Boards are much better with objective people with a good attitude here. I'm sure he is doing much better without it all.

To refine that point, I believe (and have some basis for this) that he got tired here and at the other MB's he admin'd being told he couldn't have an opinion or being criticized for his opinion just because he was the admin. Dude loves football and is very knowledgeable. It got to where almost any time he made a football comment somebody would throw out an "oh so the admin speaks and we are just supposed to believe you" kind of thing. Nobody would just straight up discuss football with him anymore and that was what he was here for in the first place.

As others have said - we miss you Vinny. You were a huge part of developing football MB communities in Houston, New Orleans, Tennessee and San Francisco. Hope your garden is going well and you are happy.

Seriously though... I seem to remember grumblings more as if it was the "higher-ups" who were telling him what to do rather than the average posters challenging his authority. I can't imagine any of us being responsible for him leaving. I don't remember anybody mistreating Vinny in their posts.
 
This is a slight derailment but I want to thank Vinny and all the mods (and donors) who make this site possible. I don't know of any forum that is well managed like this one.
