Whats up with playing Tampa Bay week 4 every pre season...and on Thursday nights?

do the texans have set teams that they play every preseason. It seems we've played Tampa bay for several years, Bears, and Dallas seems to be a given

I have been pondering this question for several seasons...

Why do we play Tampa Bay in pre season every year...and on a Thursday? (except on '02 when we played them on Friday) Doesn't matter if it is here or there, and always on week 4. It has my curiosity up...

Here is my research to back it up...

I guess we can look forward to playing the Saints every year also. Just like we play the Cowboys every year. The owners usually agree on it and get it approved by the league. As far as it being the last preseason game I have no clue.

Three practice sessions this week between the Texans and New Orleans Saints went so well leading up to tonight’s second preseason game that the owners are planning to make it an annual event scheduled on a home-and-home basis.

Bob McNair and Tom Benson have to get the NFL’s approval to play an annual preseason game because the league makes the schedule. It tries to accommodate owners when possible, and this request makes so much sense the league is bound to approve it.

As far as playing on Thursday or Friday it's because all teams play the last preseason game on Thursday or Friday so they can get ready for the opener.
