What's the deal with Davis?

nemisis58

Practice Squad
Is there and injury I should be worried about here? I went away on vacation and come back hearing some weird things.

I think he is just has some swelling in his knee. Said he is going to rush for 2000 yards and cant even get through training camp...

I too am becoming increasingly nervous about Davis. He hasn't practiced much, been in the scrimmage, and he didn't play in the game against the Cowboys.

IIf he is going to be our featured back shoulnd't he make it at least a week in training camp?

I hope I'm wrong here because he's one heck of a player.

Well it is good to know that his absence from practice or games has been a coach's decision to be cautious about the injuries. The one thing to remember is that last year Davis had an injury prior to camp as a rookie and still had a very good season. I agree I am a little nervous about the injuries but I am not ready to hit the panic button.

A lot of running backs don't see much action in training camp. You don't want to use up many of the limited number of carries a running back has during training camp when he really doesn't have a lot to prove.

I'm not too nervous about Davis being injured because of Hollings showing what he can do. The fumbles are a problem, but those will be fixed. I'm not saying Hollings is better than Davis, but I'm just saying that until Davis is 100% healthy...it's not a big problem because we have a guy that can fill in and do a decent, solid job. Hopefully Davis will be back soon and we can see whether or not Hollings will make a push for the starting job.

It's a long season and we already know what he can do. I really don't want to see him in too many preseason games because of the injury risk. Most backs have a hard time making it through the grueling 16 week schedule anyway so why push it now especially since he has a little history. I think I'm more concerned about Hollings' hands than I am DD's legs.

he is just alittle knicked up, it doesn't seem like anything serious. But he has shown that he can come back from injurys like when he broke his hand in training camp.

Capers said today (and I don't believe it was the first time) that if this was a real game then Davis would have been playing. It's just the coaches keeping DD fresh and no needing to see what he's got in the tank. They know what he can do. It's a non-issue IMO.

capers has said that before...and i totally agree...with all the injuries this summer why take any chances...davis is working out during the morning camps when it's not full contact...the night drills he's taking off...it's no big deal imo

HE'LL BE ALRIGHT HE JUST HAS A LITTLE SWELLING IN HIS ANKLE, DON'T PANIC WE STILL HAVE 3 WEEKS LEFT BEFORE THE SEASON STARTS AND THEY ARE JUST BEING A LITTLE CAUTIOUS. UNDERSTANDABLE FOR SOMEONE WHO RUSHED FOR OVER 1000 YDS IN HIS ROOKIE SEASON. :thumbup

Yea, went to the practive last night (geez the weather was nice - can't believe it's August in Houston!), and Davis was there with the team, but not in pads - therefor a non participant. Somebody posted earlier that he suited up
in the morning 2-a-day.
My first practice - seeing them in person is better than TV to really get a good
look at individual players. Hollings looks like a football player. I thought he might
have one of those sprinter type physiques - spindley legs, etc. Maybe he can be
more durable than I thought - hope so. If he can mjust hold onto the ball !
Bradford is built like a sprinter.
AJ is awesome. I read that he lost some weight and is down to 'bout 215. Talk
about chieseled. Combination football player/sprinter pysique. CBs have to get real nervous when this freak is in their area.

Talking about practice last night...special teams kick returners, Thomas and Duff I think it was, dropped a few.....not good!

Domanick Davis along with Jonathan Wells will not be making the trip to Pittsburg due to injuries. The new guys will be geting all the reps tonight behind Hollings.

Is anyone wondering where James Allen is when we need him? HAHA!

Mcclain of the Chronicle was making a big deal about it though. "You have to be worried" if your the Texans. Thats what he said yesterday on 610.
It is a big deal and the Texans probably are worried. How many workouts has DD taken part in the past two training camps combined??? Its not that many. Atleast Hollings gets to play :excited:

I think the concern is that he seems to be nicked up alot and that worries them as far as the team goes.

They also said that he could and would have played if it were a regular season game situation.

They have a point. No need to play him in a meaningless game if he's less than 100%.

Well good point, and I'd rather have Davis with a sore knee than a broken hand anyday.

Rapping for JA. How did that turn out? What was his AKA?

Dominick would be playing if it was regular season. He will be fine. Mcclain of the Chronicle was making a big deal about it though. "You have to be worried" if your the Texans. Thats what he said yesterday on 610.

Mersilis... or however you spell it... I don't think he ever made it into the studio, may have been missing the money as I think I saw it posted somewhere that he tried out for Miami after Ricky "the bongster" flaked out. I don't think he made it.

We'll probably know how serious it is when they play the 3rd preseason game as that when they start game planning and the starters stay in longer.
